Dear friends

I am 34 years old and I am keen in learning Bharatanatyam.  I stay in Thiruvanmyur Chennai. I have 2 children, boy 9 years and girl 5 years.  Is it ok to start learning Bharatanatyam?  Has it go anything to do with my health after 2 deliveries?  I have not danced in my life before.  Please advise.

If positive, please suggest good dance teachers in and around RTO office, thiruvanmyur.

Thanks a lot

Hi radansha,

I do not know about dance teachers in Chennai, but I can definitely say that Bharathanatyam will not cause any harm to your health. Infact you can consider its a form or excercise for all parts of the body including eyes and fingers and will keep you fit. As long as you do not have problems like arthritis which in that case you have to avoid, otherwise, this is a good way tp excercise.

Age is no bar for learning anything. Appreciate your interest. As you live near Kalakshetra, try out there. There should be some teachers around, who can accommodate the bigger kids like you!  Wish you all the best and share your experiences.
