How old is your child and what is your overall goal/thinking for schools? Do you believe in homework? Less homework? Projects?
He will turn seven in couple of weeks. He attends 1st grade now. We are looking at admissions in 2nd grade for 2014-2015.
Looking at school to incorporate teaching methodology for overall development for their students. I am not against vast curriculum. Extra stretch, if managable is good. I do believe in homework. Brings about discipline. But it should be something which child can manage on his own. say revison of what he has learnt in school. Intent of projects is good...but only if child does it on his own. So projects should be taken care in school.. once they come home they get 'parents' touch!!
Again playing is a integral part if child development. I am planning to start work..so not sure how much I would be able to manage his outdoor activities. So looking at school providing extra outdoor sports activities.
I think, both NHSS and Euro seem to follow the above and hence not able to decide. Appreciate if you or any other parents can share their inputs/thoughts/experience..
Euro school does not have homework at lower grades and they do not have tests, per se. They evaluate with tests, but children do not know they are tests, if that makes sense. No stress on it, so if you prefer to know when so you can prepare your child with a lot of extra studying, Euro School will not be the best bet.
Their homework is less and will be more project-based. The example given was to go to the garden and find various types/shapes of leaves. Parents or maid would have to be involved. So you can get your parent's touch by discussion on leaf types, etc :)
A friend's son is at NHSS and they are satisfied. We are considering both Euro and Billabong as we do not prefer heavy emphasis on testing/homework.
Even I am in the same situation as Sunny04. I am confused between NHSS and EuroSchool.
I liked the concept of teaching in Euro, but concerned if that will be a burden later if students cannot adept to the vast syllabus of ICSE if they are not habituated to it earlier.
Also at NHSS any idea do they focus enough on english speaking? Most schools i have observed that there is not enough emphasis on communication in english, correct pronunciation etc.
Can you please provide ur inputs, it will help me a lot.
2 Days back we had been to Euroschool for 2nd Grade admission but was very much dismayed to see the location, approach road and under construction infrastructure. We felt concerned about the safety of the child seeing the compound wall that separated school from Sanjay Gandhi National Park's back side keeping in mind that few days back there were numerous sightings of Leaopard on the sprawl
We decided not to go further with Euro
I would like to know which area of euro school are u talking about, that has a compound wall dividing sanjay Gandhi national park.
Hi any reviews on NHSS and euro as in which is a better school
Please advise me your feed back on schools. As i plan for nursery adm of my daughter
We are planning to relocate to Thane and we are quite confused between Euro School (ICSE) & The New Horizon New branch Majiwada (CBSE) for admission for Grade 4.
Currently my son is in ICSE board itself.
Thanks in advance.
