Hi enigma,

Thanks for the detailed report on Billabong Thane. I am looking at Billabong for my son's admission in 4th Standard.  Do you know their teacher:student ratio or How many children in one Class?  I heard some Thane schools have 60 students in a class.  How would you compare Billabong with Singhania for overall rating?

Hi ,

My daughter is currently studying in Rainbow preschool. Its a very good school for playgroup.U can see the difference in ur kid. The best part is that they have opened a new school from std I this year Laurel Public School(CBSE). To get the admission in this school will not be difficult. The way they have developed their Rainbow school, you can expect that they are going to develop Laurel also.

Vasant Vihar (SSC) is a good school.Specially the primary section is the best.Admission is already closed. Nalanda is a good CBSE school(formed by ex singhania staff). The admission form distribution starts in October. They are in process of shortlisting the students.

Singhania has the lottery system so you cannot just rely on it. Its called the best school in Thane.

Billabong is a good school with lots of activities. The fees is around 45K for nursery.Quite an expensive school.

Universal and Lodha are new schools. The fees are almost the same 40 K in both. Lodha also take some 20K non refundable deposits. They dont have their own transport. Its not difficult to get admission in these school next year. And there is no point paying 40K for nursery in these new schools.

Arunadaya  is quite far. And the school is Ok. DAV admission is yet start but they give prefernce to siblings. The school is not very great. No extra curricular activities. Only studies.

what abt lodha school no feedback in this forum...which board do they follow any reviews on the same??do they have nursery??

ML2009 2009-12-24 16:54:40

Lodha school website is not functional...is the school ...any reviews...abt fee structure and board

puja09 2009-12-24 18:23:46

Lodha School follows ICSE patterns. Its a new school. They have around 100 students right now. They have nursery. The school is just one year old. About the school reviews no idea. The fee structure for nursery is 38K(fees) + 20K (non-refundable deposit) + Transport extra.

dm 2009-12-28 13:55:42

ML2009- Me too is looking for a day care/creche in the same area, there is one creche in runwal nagar (a-plot), vinaya bhavan and little tigers. Incase if you have any idea abt any creche please let me also know

ML2009 2009-12-28 17:16:35

where is little tigers in our vicinity. i will keep u posted if i come across.i checkd with tree group but they havent yet started n that is very far .

dm 2009-12-29 10:10:22

ML2009- Little tigers is near Royal INN hotel. I am looking for a home based creche due to long working hrs some times . This reputed day care centre have fixed time slot. which would be difficult for me. A home based creche somewhere in our vicinity would be more better option for me .

ML2009 2009-12-29 16:42:34

dm 2009-12-29 17:52:28

ML2009- There is babysitting in the building oppsite to Dream planet, which is also a home based baby sitter and I read . Do you have the contact numbers of vinayak bhavan.

ML2009 2009-12-29 20:25:04

dm-i think then it wud b more convenient as ur daughter goes to dreamplanet...hav u checked with that baby sitter?

vinayak bhavan i had gone personally so dont hav the number but u can c the board near their gate...

Snair 2009-12-29 22:46:08

I  have a mixed response for Vasanth Vihar . They say the children are indisciplined. Teachers dont care about their studies.I really dont know how much  truth it is. Billabong they say fees are exorbitant .I dont know much abt the studies part.D.A.V. i personally didnt like the school. I am looking for a school tht can instill discipline in children..The language also is a major criteria. There is no fluency in english language among the children  these days.Pronunciation is very poor.

Apart from parents the schools  shld also look into these matters. They should equally get involved in nurturing and moulding children as kids tend to spend most of their time in school.English is a universal language and it should be taught properly. They should start putting more emphasis on phonetics rather than alphabets from a very early age for their speech to improve.I am totally stunned by the way children speak english even in class 6.Things have drastically changed from the days we hve studied. Elocution was a subject on its own and we were taught how to pronounce each word. Its impossible to get a school of our choice as every school has its own drawbacks .

dm 2009-12-30 09:44:42

ML2009- My daughter will go to Dream planet till March and then she will go to some other school, my mother stays at ganpati Villa so i think vinayak bhavan would be better option, if i late at office then my kid can stay at my mothers home. You mentioned you went there personally how did you fell the atmosphere and also do you have idea abt the charges.

I am planning to visit there this weekend.

ML2009 2009-12-30 10:47:47

dm-no idea about charges neither the atmosphere ...but plng to check in the near future as my kid will turn 2 very soon...

do update ur experience after the visit...

u wud find baby sitter opp madhuri stores/diamond parlour also...again no idea abt fees / atmosphere

dm 2009-12-30 11:21:53

ML2009- I knw that place which to opp diamond parlour , her charges are nominal, but personally speaking I didn't like the place. I have heard there is one in Pitamber also need to check.

Hi dm and ML2009

I appreciate your efforts of searching a good day care/baby sitting option on the Internet. But it would help if you could create a seperate discussion for it. The topic that you are currently discussing, although very important, is bit off topic for a "Good Schools in Thane area" thread.

A seperate thread would also help other parents looking for the same information.

Thanks & Regards,

Hemant

Thnx in advance

Amitabha 2010-01-04 11:59:58

Hi, my daughter has got a call from Lokpuram. Any idea how is it?

Mommyisthebest 2010-01-04 16:15:37

Hi Amitabha,

My daughter has also got a call from Lokpuram, i have been to the school. The school does not boast of any good buildings etc but getting admission mid term itself is a big thing. In any case, I have thought of getting her admitted to the same as it is a CBSE board and also the teacher to student ratio is 1:12 which seems to be fine.
