Dear Parents,

I have been reading information about kids who are OCI's (Overseas Citizen of India) , restricted/limited/difficult  in getting enrolled in Indian colleges. Can anyone give us some inputs?

Can an IGCSE student get enrolled into colleges in India?

Regards

VaniSam

Hi VaniSam

There isabsolutely  no problem with getting into admissions for higher education in India after completing the IGCSEs. The accepted grades are C and above.

My elder son joined in Engineering first yr after the IGCSEs and A levels.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Shailaja

Can you share where your elder son has completed his IGCSE and A level exams?  In which college he is studying now and which subject he has taken in Engineering?. Thank you.

Hi Sreemadhy

My elder one has completed his GCE O'levels and IGCSE from Maldives and younger one did it at one of the International schools in Bagalore and for A levels decided to homeschool as there is no school offering A levels in Hyderabad. He sits the exam through a school in Bangalore as external candidate.

Elder one is now in first year of Computer Science Engineering, having cleared EAMCET last yr. But he is leaving to UK to pursue undergraduate course in Cyber forensics in September.

Younger would be finishing his A levels in Oct/Nov 2011 and later he would prepare for SATs and try for Singapore.

Any more details, pl. drop a mail to my inbox and I will reply.

Regards

Shailaja

IGCSE/O level/A level exams happen in June and November not at the same time as CBSE and ICSE. So do A Level students loose a year to when take admission to colleges in India?

Thanks and regards.

Hi Shailaja
Its nice to find you on parent tree.  I think I met you once in Jubilee hills,  you were hosting private classes for IGCSE students right.
My son completed his fast track IGCSE (1yr) at Jain in Hyd and he scored excellent grades n completed 9 subjects.  You gave me some suggestions in 2013.  Right now he is doing As levels in Bangalore.
My son is resident of Singapore and I am planning to apply to NUS and NTU next year.  Did your son manage to get into Singapore University?  Please provide some guidance on applications.  I think their requirement is SAT and 3 SAT subject tests right
Please mail me with any information you have  madhubindu.b@gmail.com
