Hi All,

I have been considering Vibgyor school for my daughter as the reviews were pretty good till recently. Have been reading now that since the principal & some staff has changed it is not as good as it used to be. I'd like to know from current parents if that is the case. Please advise and share your experiences with VIbgyor.

Also which is the better choice Vibgyor or St Marys?

Thanks,

ab

St Mary's is not a choice rather LUCK , and these days even St Mary's reviews have been bad.

Thanks for Vibgyor's update.

Aarthi,

:-) Yep...it is. But from my side I'd like to know what the drawbacks are before I even apply. You said there were some bad reviews on St Marys. Can you pls elaborate - i which way? Will really appreciate it. Thanks a lot,

ab

Hi Aparna,

I dont have any first hand experience abt Vibgyor . St Marys is considered as  one of the best schools in pune. But it is very much academic oriented and there is pressure for performance from first standard onwards. It is very difficult  to get an admission there.

Last year I tried for my daughter as well , But didnt get selected.  I couldnt understand  their  selection criterion  as  last year they didnt even ask a single question to my daughter and she is a very smart and bright girl. I have heard that they usually prefer highly educated ,non-working mothers .  In my case  we are both working and I am a software professional. One of my friend knowingly kept her work status as "non-working" and they got thru.. Also St MArys admissions  come at last when all other schools have completed theirs. So you wud have to take an admission in another school as back up .

All  the best for you !!!

Thanks and regrds,

Nithya

Hi Aarti,

Yes you are right!!!!! Its pure LUCK  and as per my last years experience. Not merit !!!!!!!

Also heard rumours that they prefer christian students  and that it is also a selection criterion.  I am not sure of this point thou.

Nithya

AartiR 2010-10-06 16:15:39

St Mary's prefers only Highly educated Non working MOMs , preferebly Business Class(atleast u shud look like one) or else mainly from christian community. It is still following the age old method of teaching and learning , not project driven, all good old teachers have either retired or on verge of it, their old Principal as well has moved out since this academic year she has joined Wisdom world school in Wakad. I know at least 2-3 families who have pulled out their kids from St MAry's this year.

Even if I try to adjust on above facts still I could not adjust on one major issue is ; They treat parents like dirt, u can't meet teachers frequently and even if you meet you can't ask many questions.

I had visited Vibgyor this year and I liked it, I know one of my family friend whose kid goes to this school and they are happy, still need to check on your latest news abt it.

Thanks Aarti & Nithya for your replies,

I am also confused right now whether to go for marys at all or not. Which other schools would you recommend in Pune?

thanks,

ab

Hi Aparna,

Last year after many iterations and a lot of research , I finally got LKG admission for my daughter in  Wisdom World School , Wakad. I am very happy with my decision and am awed by the development that my daughter has made in the last  few months.

I would suggest you to select schools near where you stay  , visit them and find one whch would give your ward a right balance of academics and extra curricular activities.

thanks and regards,

Nithya

Hi,

Further to our discussion, I found this feedback on Vibgyor. Am not sure how accurate it is, but maybe worthwhile going through it if you're considering Vibgyor.

Last saturday I met a mom who moved both sons from St Mary's to Vibgyor, she was very happy with Vibgyor since last 2 years her kids are studying there. in Kodhwa pune

According to her St MAry's puts a lot of academic pressure on kids and only selected lucky few kids are made to take part in all Elocutions, debates, dances etc because once the kid is trained teachers don't have to teach a new student every year (less rework) which means a whole lot of students remian deprived of all these activities so your child ends up doing does the academics where as in Vibgyor every 6 weeks they have a Culminating activity wherein say if 1 kid was given a Major role in one cycle then next cycle that kid would be given ;lesser responsibility so every kid develops and takes part in all activities. Apart from that the method of teaching is good. Another important news she gave is Vibyor is opening up a branch in Balewadi.

So I am still keeping Vibgyor as my first option.

Hi All,

I was going through all the posts on school reviews that seems to have started with the feedback on Vibgyor. I am not very sure of Vibgyor though, I thought of sharing my feedback on VKE (Victorious Kidss Educares) in Sopan Bag. I would advise you to plan a visit to this school before you make up your mind for any other school. You can also visit their website http://www.vkidss.org/

AartiR 2010-10-21 13:40:30

what is the fee range of Victorious kidss educares?

aparnab 2010-10-21 16:13:25

hi,

i hv visited victorious and met with the chairman for a long chat. i hv serious concerns regarding the school philosophy and the quality of care given there. i would not receommend it to anyone; this is simply my prsonal opinion.

thanks,

ab

RDJ 2010-10-22 13:08:43

Aarti,

Its in the same range as Vibgyor as far as fee is concerned . The school timings are from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.

hi Aparna and Ritu

u both seem to have had 2 absolutely diverse experiences with Victorius Kidss, request for a little clarity please, as a parent intersted in finding abt this school will really request for some more first hand experiences so as to make the right decision. Thanks a lot. aprajita

reemali 2011-01-27 23:17:24

Hi Asapra,

I've been reading these blogs felt like answering u. I stay just behind victorious kids and I'm completely agree with Aparnab. this school is hardly anyone would recommend. Fee structure starts with 1.40lacks/year + other expenses. they call it IB school. The fee structure at vibgyor is 65000/year. My 2 sons are in vibgyor moved from mary's. (don't ask why?:-)) Anyways victorious kidss is good 4 full time working ladies who wants the day care should teach their kids something. when my younger son was 3yrs. i'd gone to victorious kidss where the lady there had said u came very late our school starts for the age of 6mnths. what a careless mother I'm!! how can I be so reluctant about my kids admission. (but my kids had gone through toughest adm. procedure of st. mary's:-)) hope this helps. afterall choice is yours

Hi Reemali,

Thanks for sharing ur experience. I know u said 'dont' ask', but plese I have to ask :-). Pls share ur experience regarding Mary's and Vibgyor. This info is very hard to come by, and its a critical decision for a parent, so I hope u can help. Is you prefer not on a public forum, I'll share my email id and you can email if you want.

Asapra: There are many other better options than VicKidss in Pune. Explore them.

hi Reemali / ab

thanks a lot for your response. have heard abt Vickidss very recently and knew nothing abt the school hence was curious

Am looking at applying to st mary's and Vibgyor hence the above discussion was amazingly relevant for me. \Reemali, request for more details as ab said, the move from mary;s to vibgyor is very intriguing indeed. looking forward to hearing from u.

thanks .

reemali 2011-01-28 23:45:00

Hi aparnab n asapra,

I know that u people r very curious why away from st. mary's???...... (afterall we r all Indian moms:-)) always curious.......

Anyways, actually i'm not in side of any school nor opp. I think personally all schools r good. but what happens in actual, that we try to go for perfect one which we never get. Same case happened with me.  when i took admission to st.mary's (4 my kids offcourse) I was very clear.....why mary's? coz it's no.1 school in pune. and was dreaming of IIT's for my atleast 1 kid :-)) afterall i'm typical Indian mom yaar:-)). And u know if u want IIT's then academics should be best.

but over the period of time I came to know my kids r very good at academics but they can't do their best when there is a lot of pressure. when I was in the school I was most brilliant kid. I don't know why?? I used to tell the answers those were already in the books. (and that's why I was brilliant:-))). Still I lost iit rank just by 1 grade.

and the funny thing is I couldn't answer the question, when my kid asked me, "mom where eskimos go for loo.........in the ig...loo?"....what's the use of my 89%for Xth and 97% for group for XII ???? what if I'd have gone to iit? I'm sure i wouldn't have known the ans. of  it. It's not question of g.k. it's not IQ it's not good academics it'sjust an innocence. then I really got impressed with igcse board which has got some nice teaching methods. many says our indian education system is best but theirs is not bad either.

offcourse i havn't changed the school just for that 1 question :-))))) .it's a result of lots of thinking and situations.

vibgyor is the only school that time was offering igcse with blend with indian syllabus. now so many came up. but running after schools may be good 4 us but not for our kids. And we don't know what will be the education needs after 10-15 yrs. Let's let them enjoy the education.

hi reemali,

this is archi new to this site. i've read your reviews and it seems that you have studied a lot of schools or u know them. gr8 article above. which class ur kids in at vibgyor ? my daughter is in 1st at vibgyor. Do u really find vibgyor worth? or we r just wasting our money? I want to put my kid to st. mary's but my hubby is saying NO. as our kid is happy here. but practically thinking st. mary's is much better.

what u feel? as u know both the schools.

Any experience about DPS please?

please reply,

archi.

reemali 2011-01-30 01:13:14

hi archiz,

Thanks, but I'm not an article writer :-)) i just wrote whatever I've experienced. It's a big big competition out here for schools but atlast 2x2 = 4. (in every school). my kids r in 4th and sr.kg.).

actually, u r asking me @ my feel i'd suggest if ur kids r happy money shouldn't be a problm and so as the school. there is nothing beyond kids happiness. pl. do 1 thing take a paper make 3 columns 1. for your needs 2. for st. mary's 3. vibgyor. write all + and - points.(honestly:-)) and then decide. we moms think a lot.............but very good method to make a decision is (which really works) ," ALWAYS LISTEN TO YOUR HEART WHEN THEIR IS A CONFUSSION"!!

DPS IS a good school kids r bold.....cbse board. Iguess vibgyor principal was former Dps authority(i heard something like that but surely don't know) if mistaken then sorry.

hope this helps,

reemali :-)

Thanks for your reviews.

Still I want to know more about the Vibgyor and st. mary school. Is there any parent of class 4 or above child in those schools??

Ashsen 2011-03-23 10:29:59

My daughter is in Vibgyor, Undri for the last 3 years- she is very happy to go to school and we are satisfied with how she is shaping up in school. It is indeed true that the principal has changed and she was definitely far better than the present one. And now the school has become a lot more commercial during the annual activities like concert and sports. BUt these I feel are not as important when I consider the low number of students per class= greater personal attention, involving all students in activities other than just academics, the class techer + asst teacher knowing each student individually and making sure they are upto the mark. There is a lot of focus on making teaching fun and interesting, rather than the staid teaching methids I think most of us have grown up with. My daughter is to be in standard II from this June session and I think we are quite satisfied with our decision. There are pros & cons for each school.

Hi Reemali,

Thanks for the nice reply. I'd really like to know what reasons were to shift your kids form St Marys to Vibgyor? Everyone says Mary's is no1 but then why are people shifting out. I need to understand. Please share.

thanks,

aparna

Can anyone tell me why not Victorious? I m planning for my kids to victorious.

Hi Archiz

I have gone through your comments and would like to ask your opinion. My daughter is in grade IV in St Helina and for the similar reasons as yours we are also planing to move her to VIBGYOR but are little worried for the following:

1. Do these new schools do justice to the academic alongwith the activities?

2. Will our kids be equally competent with the kids of st Helina/Merry at the Board examinations or will they loose the habit of hard work and more studies due to more activities?

Because as a parent we cant forget that ultimately they have to face the board exams and have to compete with these kids. Most of these schools are new and their board records are not yet established.

What is your opinion regarding this. Please share your honest opinion as this may help us to take our decision.

Thanks in advance.

Neha
