I am expecting my 2nd child soon. I have heard that 'shea butter cream' is good to remove stretch marks. Has anyone found this useful?
Does anyone know where I can get this in Pune? I stay in Kalyaninagar.
Shea body butter is available in Bodyshop in SGS magnum mall(MG road). Perhaps other branches of Bodyshop have also opened in Pune lately.
My aunt had used olive oil on stomach and thighs and she did not get a single stretch mark. I used olive oil also diligently through my pregnancy on my body and thighs. I did not get stretch marks till my 34th week. After that my tummy expanded very rapidly and I used to always sleep on the right side. Then viola!, one fine day my maid told me, hey you have got stretch marks today. It was like it happened overnight!. True I looked at the right side of my tummy and saw those stretch marks which was too hard to believe to see it as it was not there yesterday...
I think getting stretch marks depends on various factors like if your tummy expands too rapidly during one period or its expanding regularly allowing your skin to stretch without its tissues tearing and to some extent- genetics(ie your skin type). So there is no 100% gaurantee that whatever you apply can prevent stretch marks. Some people say they have had good results with cocoa butter cream. Biotique has cocoa butter cream. Its also available with body shop. Cheaper options would be our good old coconut oil.
Also once stretch marks appear, it cannot be removed. The texture of the skin can be improved by regularly applying heavy moisturizing creams which will give an appearance of fadedness to the stretch marks. But they cannot be removed completely.
I already have marks from my previous pregnancy. I had read somewhere that these can be removed with shea butter, but was not too sure. May be I'll give it a try. :)
