I shifted from Bangalore last year. I don't have any personal experience about Vibgyor. There are mixed reviews about the school in this blog. To my experience I feel pressure is much less in Pune schools when compared to banglore. My kids are in Indira National school. Its a cbse board school and I am happy with the school. For any more information pls feel free. All the best for ur school search and Welcome to Pune.

Hi All,

Am moving to Pune from Chennai and am looking for admissions for my child for Class VI. Worried because higher classes are diffcult to get admissions to. Looking for either CBSE or ICSE schools near Viman Nagar. Could anyone pls. help out by giving me some information.

Its true that it will be difficult to get admission in the established schools. But the upcoming , but equally promising schools should not be an issue. I heard good reviews about Sharad pawar public school in magarpatta. It follows CBSE. I dont think you would have much of a problem to get in Bishops school in Undri as long as you can pay the cash(not their main one in camp). You can also check out their branch in kalyaninagar. This is also recently started.

I'm moving from US in November and my work will be in Chinchwad area. I'm looking for good schools (preferably CBSE) that do not have a 3rd language requirement. If all CBSE schools in Pune have 3rd language requirement, then can you suggest any good international schools that are not very expensive (under 2-2.25 lakhs).

Also, can you suggest any apartments/villas that have a community feel with good security, 24 hours water, power backup and are near shopping area?  Thanks in advance to all for helping out.

Hi anbala,

There are very less CBSE schools in and around chinchwad. All schools almost have 3rd language but still they don't have exams ,even if they have they are not serious abt it. You have not mentioned your kid's class. Indira National school, GGIS and GIIS these are some of the CBSE schools in and around this area. You can go to their web site and get further details abt the school. There are international schools but they are not near chinchwad area. All the above mentioned schools will only cost 1.1 lakhs and less.

Regarding the apt. you can decide once you select your school. I stay in a villa near wakad area and my kids are studying in Indira National school.

My son is currently in 2nd grade. I'm open as to location, the only constraint being I do not want to commute to work more than 30-35 minutes

My Husband works in chinchwad and it is 15-20mts drive from my place. My younger son is presently in 2nd grade. The school I had mentioned above has got its own advantage and disadvantage. No school is prefect it depends on the satisfaction of the parent and the child. You can see the reviews of all the above schools in Pune parents itself.

I am so glad to have found this website and forum.  It is so informative.  We are planning to move to Pune, too, for the coming school year 2012-13.  We moved from the US two and half years ago to Chennai (after almost 2 decades in the US) and had similar requirements as Bala.  We were lucky to have found a suitable transitional school in Chennai.  Now we are worried about finding the next school in Pune.  Our kids will be going to 1st and 4th grades, and we will also be looking at CBSE/ICSE schools.  My husband will also be working in Chinchwad.  We plan on visiting Pune in November.  I am looking forward to hear what Bala finds and decides on.

 Hello Kav,

I am moving to Pune in the summer and I liked Indira National School.  I plan to visit the school this month and most probably seek admission too.

Since I am not from Pune, I have to rely on online feedback while shortlisting schools.  I have mostly got only positive feedback about the school.  However, I did read about 1 parent's complaint that the school sometimes has very harsh punishment for kids.  Could you please share if your child had any such experience?

The other schools I am going to look at are - Vibgyor (Balewadi), Euroschool (Wakad) and Blue Ridge (hinjewadi).  Any feedback you may have to share on these schools is also welcome.

Blue Ridge is relative new and there is very little feedback available online.

 Hi arisia,

Sorry its been long i had visited this site. Just saw ur mssg. My kids r in INS for the past 1 1/2 yrs. I personally like this school. Its not gr8 but defintely not bad. I feel this is a good cbse school in this area. I don't  have any idea abt the school u had mentioned. In my society kids go to vidya valley, GGIS ,GIS,DAV,Orchid.

Regarding punishment u had written abt INS i am not aware of. I had not experienced such things. Pls feel free to enquire abt INS. My kids are in 6th and 3rd std.

All the best for ur school hunt and welcome to Pune.

arisia85 2012-12-19 15:25:10

Thank you for your response.  I visited Indira School and found the receptionist very very helpful.  I also liked that they focus on the overall development of the child.

Vicky80 2012-12-19 16:24:58

Do you know if Indira kids is linked with INS as INS doesn't have pre primary classes, if we take admission in Jr Kg class in Indira kids, do they get automatically enrolled under INS for further grades. We enquired about this at Indira kids but there response was confusing and was not really a kind of assurance.

kav 2012-12-20 16:16:35

To my knowledge they almost accomodate all Indira kids children in INS for I std. They give preference only for Indira Kids children. You need not worry about the admission in INS if u r  in IKS.
