does it make any difference in the upbringing of a child if he or she studies in a co-ed or single gender school

tough one, but an interesting post to start a debate.

my take is co-ed is definitely better because 1) makes communication and getting along with the opposite sex better  2) lots of opportunities to fight :) ;)

My first priority would be a school with good repute academically and sports.

But if I have to choose between a coed school and a school of the same gender with "equal" reputation then I would pick the coed school.

Hi.

I read a book "How to raise your child" wherein it was mentioned dat girls excels in all-girls school coz.. thr is no gender bias and equal opportunity is given to all. I was convinced and had thought of opting only girls school for my daughter.

But I happen to meet girls from all-girls school and they suggested me to opt for Co-ed school only. The reason they cited was that in a all-girl or all-boy schools the kids become excessive attacted towards opposite sex. Later they may also develop cold feet talking, mixing with opp. sex. Moreover, recently, i read an article where it stated that each boy and girl sd be nurtured in a normal way-In other word. co-ed should be the right environment for proper mental growth.

hi, i agree with NJ here, first pririty school (academic + overall balance), and then co-ed, siingle, also i'd prefer co-ed. i also think other factors like ur family dynamics, ur social life etc. influence this part of ur kids upbringing.

which schools r u considering? do let us know what u decide.

cheers,

ab.

Hey Girish,

I would prefer Co-ed over others.

This gives Kids Opportunity to mix well with Opposite sex.

Co-ed would definately help in better Social growth of your Child.

Cheers,

VS.

co-ed or single gender, whatever may be right but the fact is the most important thing today is to get admission in good school. In current situation, we are no more the choosers
