My son is 25 months old. We communicate with him in mother tongue at home.

Now he is going to a playschool and teacher is insisting us to speak in english with our son. Is it appropriate to introduce two languages at this age?

Most experts believe that it is okay to introduce 2 or more languages. In fact earlier the better. Because it gets more etched in their minds. It is amazing how their brains are. In the begining they might be confused but later will start getting it. Some steps that you can take to  avoid confusion are one parent talks one language and the other a different one. Or even talk mother tongue at home and in school and outside talk English.

Sometime back had read this Parentree article on this topic. Multiple Languages and your Child's brain.
