Dear All,

My son, is 2.5 years old and his height is around 88 CM and weight round 11.5 kg.

Is his height and weight are ok.....or is under height and weight?

Thanks and Regards

he is underweight, but its ok. weight is very very varying factor and even at our age( 25 yrs +), when all other organs growth has stopped, weight doesnt seem to obey the rule. so dnt worry much.

his height shuld be 90+ , and again it varies on lot many factors. Both his height and weight are NOT ALARMINGLY LESS. so its just all right.

My baby is 2.5 too and she weighs same(11.5kgs), her height being 87 cm. Whereas, my grpwth chart which my mother has maintained tells I weighed 15.5 Kgs at 2.5 yrs and was 95 cm. So cant predict or conclude anything.

My son is 2 yrs and 4 months and he is almost 12.5kgs and 90cm in height. So looks like they are pretty similar in their measurements. However I have observed that my son is smaller in size than many Indian boys of his age (we are in UK) but our Health Visitor has said that he is very average size as per Indian standard and so I try not to worry.

Saying that, my daughter who is now 9 yrs and 3 months, was much taller (and also heavier probably) at this age. At least 92-93 cm and even now she is taller than most Indian girls of her age that we know about.

You can see...they vary so much!! However I am just hoping that my son will catch up like his dad did (he was a shorty till 15-16 yrs of age and then suddenly shot up to be a 5ft 8.5in).

Hope this helps.

My baby is 1.5 Year old and his height is around 75 cm. Does anybody have any idea if there is any exercise for infants to increase the height? Since I m working, I don’t get much time to do give him baby massage regularly.

It really is not required to care about increasing height as far as you are giving them good diet and healthy environment.

You may schedule him to parks where he can roam, run and jump freely. At this age if he has mastered running with control, then just observe and have fun with introducing many more physical activities viz- Jumping, touching something kept a little hightover his jumping height and encouraging him to touch etc. etc. Height is more of genetic nature and nothing can increase it as such.
