i came across the total development program for kids offered by educational technologies. They even came home for a demo of the productl and i was quiet impressed. I want to buy the product for my son but as it is on the costlier side i would like to have second opinion on it.

Has anybody used the product. A feedback would help a lot.

Hi Deepa,

I think u should check out the thread " Feedback/ Review on Grolier Products" in Parentree. There is an extensive discussion on both time-life and grolier to help u make a better choice.

I like the time-life series. I have a two & half year old son. i have been using the books with him right since the time he was 2. Yes,the entire series at one shot is a very big ask money-wise. So my suggestion to u wud be to try out one series at a time which u find most relevant to u right now, preferably bet'n the math or skils or values. Then carry on from there. Whatever u do do not feel pressurised to either buy or once bought to use the books....it wud take out all the fun from these books.

mommyash 2010-06-16 12:24:25

i have been using both grolier and time life series for my kids aged 4 and 1/2 yrs and 7 months.....u can get in touch with me on 9892332128.....would be happy to share my views....

i think if u wanna buy on a piecemeal basis....go for skills set right now....if ur child is less than 3 yrs old....howvever, if u get Cbbebies channel at home....i dont think the english set wld be of much use to u.....cos u will get more variety and exposure on c-bebees......but definately buying the english package is not waste of money.....though i do not find it worth 44,000/- that it is being quoted at.....

Hi Mommyash,

Do u also have the math series of Time life ? If yes, how do u find it ?

Hemal 2010-06-16 17:29:16

hi, you can check out the website www.librarywala.com

This is an online circulating library in Mumbai and I am sure they have the Time Life series also. They have a wonderful collection of books for various age groups. Hope this helps.

Does anyone knows the library for children in Hyderabad who have time life series or other books for kids in their collection?

mickey 2010-06-16 19:28:35

Hi Charu,

As far as i know, there is no library in Hyd that provides time life books. I have tried to find out before buying these books. It is  worth the investment. I have bought the skills, values and knowledge series. It is better to own these books than to hire them from any library. I had even asked in time life office at Hyd, if we could get these books on rent somewhere. You can find such libraries in Bangalore.

In Hyd there is only one good library i.e British Library opposite to Secretariat. I have been its member for the past  4 yrs. I have renewed my membership recently. Right now there is some refurbishment work going on.You can call them and check out.
It is worth joining this library. The whole family will like it. There are various memberships right from Silver  to platinum starting from Rs 500 to Rs 2600 per annum.

I have taken platinum membership where you can borrow  6 (children/general collection)books, 1 CD, 3 periodicals , 3 DVDs and access to e-library. You can keep them for 3 weeks max.

There are so many activities going on through out the year for children. You will be well informed on regular basis by their emails.Do visit this library. It is fully air conditioned, very neatly maintained and fully automated. You can find your books
online from their catalogue and reserve them too. I am sure you will like it.
Do take the membership. You will love it.

Find  below the address :

AartiR 2010-06-21 15:27:13

Hi All,

Last weekend we had the demo of Time Life Series product, i was very Impressed , I wish to buy them but obviously they seem to be quite expensive. But main confusion is which series to buy first ? I have 2 kids one is 5 yrs and another one is 3 yrs old. If at all I have to buy one of the series then which once should I go for? Please advice.

 Former member 2010-06-21 16:20:53

Where can i buy this series in mumbai?

mickey 2010-06-21 16:26:09

Hi Aarti,

If you want to go for only for one series for both kids, you can go for skills.  I think.  Both of them will enjoy the skill series. After that , you can opt for Knowledge . As it comes with walter, both of them will enjoy reading . U can expain the same thing / facts to your 3yr old and 5 yr old kid in a different way. Choose some simple topics for your 3yd old kid from knowledge series.  These books suit all age groups. There are so many facts in knowledge series which we as adults are not aware of.

I too thought of  only skills first for my 3 yr old daughter, but then decided to go for values and Knowledge series too. I must thank Itawer, parentree member for this.

I have interacted with Queen , SSG from this forum . I thank them for giving positive inputs too.

Its just been 2 months I bought these books. (Skills +Values +Knowledge ) and i can find lot of change in my daughter. She just loves these books and looks forward to spend time with these wonderful books.

The value series comes with audio cds. I was a bit hesitant to take values initially but now when my daughter tells me the name of books/ stories and is able to understand the hidden meanings and relates herself to those characters, i feel very happy to have invested in this series too.

If at all you have to buy only one, try with child's Early Learning Program/Skills which comprises of 17 harcover books.

Maths and English Time are also good which u can try later. But don't delay it for very long.  The math series is also good  which can be introduced right away at the age of 3.  Many parents feel that as it is taught in school, they dont have to go for it.
You can go to  the Time Life office at Pune, spend some time and see those books , cds, dvds  of Maths and English before you buy. Infact , you can see all the books of  skills, values and knowledge series  too. Get convinced as to why they are priced so high . You can ask your sales consultant to show u the books too.

I feel it is definitely value for money. So if you like, do go for one set at a time and see your children's response and order the remaining ones.

Thanks a lot mickey for the prompt response !

Times life helped my four year old twins. I have been using maths, values and skils books since they were two. Started with Values. My kids are crazy about books and just love them all thanks to times life

emailtosharad 2010-09-29 01:07:35

 hi every body,

if you go to amazon and search for the books provided by eductional technologies knowledge series( time Life publication) or value series the cost  they are quoting as a pckage is too much. Also there you have the option to buy the individual one.

No doubt  i like the presentation but following is the cost they mentioned

English time: 44000

Early Learning Program: 20650

Child first library of values: 20650

knowledge(child first library of learning): 35000

Maths: 20650

currently i am looking for these books seller in india it could be imported edition also i do not have to pay a lump sum amount.

the only disadvantage is i will not get the walter which they are offering.

also I am not sure my 2 year kid will sit and listen the walter
