My child ignores me!

My three year old son is very much obsessed with his father, he is very much attached to him but on the contrary he ignores me totally, even though i try to be very patient with him, spent time with him, but he simply brushes me off. He also does not talk to me or respond to me the way he talks to his father. This at time depresses me a lot. Can there be some way of letting him know that i care for him or develop some likeness in him for me?
