definitely. that s the best way nowadays kids can learn to read at the earlier stage. if they are thorough with the sounds they can read any difficult words even if they dont know the meaning. i have used  that technique and i got the result. try it now itself. but i have not send my kid to any classes. i did myself

thanx for a positive response. even i have heard and seen a lot about the pros of using phonic sounds for kids. its unbelievable when u see kids breaking a fairly long word into parts in accordance to the sound they make and then blending it together to pronounce a word so correctly. i have started the same technique for my 3yr old and she simply loves the fun time she has playing and learning with the flash cards made out of colorful glitter pen.

U can just google and see u get endless options telling about the rules and techniques to follow when teaching kids through phonics. i liked a site named jollyphonics.co.uk which is excellent telling u in detail regarding the simple steps to follow when u want to start teaching ur kids using phonics. it would be highly advisable u start this at home initially. kids really enjoy learning and having fun with their parents. dont make it look like a serious teaching session, just make it more fun filled and exciting. most of the schools now prefer to teach students using this technique. u can really check out from some good schools.

Phonics does work very well. We used the Leapfrog Letter Factory DVD with our children and they easily learned the sounds of alphabets. It did wonders for them and it is sweet and simple.

You can checkout the site starfall. It is one of the best for phonics.

Instead of buying from shop, you can download phonic flash cards from net and print it and stick it on cardboard. This way you can get lots of them.

3 and above would be an appropriate age to start with this but parents are the best judge as every child is different from others.
