I am seeking admission for a 9th grader and a 5 grader in an international school in the Powai area.  Can anyone recommend a couple of good schools where I can start exploring?

There is so much info on the internet that it gets confusing...

There are couple of good Internantional schools in Powai itself. However, you will have to specify which Curriculum you are looking out for. For instatnce, if you are going to stay at Hranandani complex then ,Hiranandani foundation school offers IB -curriculum and ICSE ( Indian Board) too. However, getting admission there is usually difficult unless you are a resident Hiranandani. Or you have connection who could help you  get in there( being very frank)

Another option, which is coming up quite good is the IGSE ( Cambridge University) at SM Shetty International School. My daughter studies there and seems quite happy. :))

So, you can take your call depending on the feasibilty and availaibity .

Thanks Sophie

I am leaning toward the IB curriculum and I understand that most schools offer IGCSE in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades leading to the IB years.  Please correct me if I am wrong.

I have been reading a lot of different blogs.... and thus confused as to what is the best.  Does anyone have positive feedback from NES international (someone who has children in that school)

We are planning to move in May/June 2011 from the US and have not yet identified any particular area for residence, as our priority is schooling for the kids (9th and 5th grader).

Good luck Shalu

Tough decision - lots to look into - kids age for adaptabilty, school curriculum / board, financial background......

Yes, we moved to Mumbai and after a lot of online research and ground work we finally zeroed in on Oberoi International in Goregaon. Expensive, but a good school with excellent infrastructure, good teaching staff, management- very approachable.  All-in-all kids are happy (a very crucial factor).  It is almost 2 years now and other than missing their friends, they have not complained of the school.

All the best

i learnt here that your kids go to Oberoi International School.

Could you please let me know how are they fairing in their CLSP (Middle School) years? Is that program any good? Is that program recognized?
