I might be shifting from Powai to Chembur next year, if I get admission for my kid for KG in a good school in Chembur. Currently I have applied only in Gregorius. Which are the other schools there? I need an ICSE / IB school with a mix of academic + extra curriculur activities. Can anyone give me some info on this? Thanks!
i stay in chembur. Theres Ryan International which has recently opened. ICSE board with extra curricular activities.
BTW...Gregorious works only with donations. last heard that the current donation demands are in the range of 3-4 lacs.
IB school in chembur is RBK. Quite expensive school with ISCE too. Fees are very steep.
hope this helps. take care.
Thanks for the reply. Definitely helpful.
In terms of quality (teaching methods, extra curricular activities and teacher:student ratio) etc. which is the better school of the three? Can you give some idea on the differences between the 3 schools - what are their pros and cons?
RBK is quite expensive of the lot is what i hv heard. Not much idea abt it otherwise.
RYAN n Gregorious is fine ... RYAN recruits teachers who are almost freshers...not quite happy with that. Higher standards are not great at Ryan is wht i hv heard from parents.
Gregorious is fine that way i guess. honestly finally its wht we teach home and how we teach home...tutions are a must for both the schools as most parents cant depend only on wht the school teachers are teaching and the school teachers also know that almost all students are taking private classes. Its happening everywhere in mumbai i think.
gud luck n tk care.
Hey, Thanks for that forthright reply!!
I live in Chembur too, and my kid is going to RBK, in fact several children from Deonar area go to RBK ... and I am happy about the teacher:student ratio (1:15 - 1:20 max) and the methodology of learning definitely puts much much less stress on the kids and the parents too ! They have affiliations with Trinity College London for English Language and Western music too which have yearly child - friendly assessments.
While I cannot comment on schools which take donation, there are schools in Chembur which have 40 - 50 kids per class and probably 3 or 4 such sections. From a child's point of view, this is more than the best teacher can handle.
So if you compare apples to oranges, probably RBK might seem steep (comparitively), but if you are really keen on the overall development of the child, it might really seem a good idea to check out RBK.
All the best :)
Will check it out..Hope the admissions are not yet over.
hi Gemini !
The admissions are on till Jan 15th I guess.. You can alwasy check their website and call them n find out !
hi kalyani ... it was nice to here from u ... i m planning to take admission for my son in RBK for nursery nxt year. i have already visited the school, and m really impressed. i always wanted such an international school for my son. Definately the fees is very high, but thts ok. My problem is that RBK has only authorization for PYP and not for MYP. I have cross-checked it with the IBO... i wanted to know till which class the course is currently run ... and any thing u would like to tell me rgd the admission protocol ... thanks alot
I also heard that the MYP Pre-auth visit was completed this week, so I am assuming the MYP auth also will be done soon. These authorisation visits from IBO is not a formality and is taken quite seriously by the school. There is no protocol per se. so, by the time ur kid comes to MYP, the authorisation will be complete. So dont worry too much ! I think they have closed admissions now, but you can always call the school and check with the PRO / admissions officer there. I can tell you that nursery kids will enjoy themselves as there are enough activities and a very low student:teacher ratio (never exceeding 1:20).
