I am in similar situation as most parents here i.e. to decide if I should put my son in IB or CIE. He is just 2 but I have started preping from now. I also want to learn if a combination or PYP + CS1+2+Alevels would be a better option. Most schools i know of near by are offering the combo program i.e PYP+CS1/2. Could pls send me the details as well. My id is email@example.com. Thx so Much.

Dear rosh mom can u mail me all details of ib and igsce board diff on
Im dr aditi aggarwal and im very confused about chossing right board for my 2 year old daughter. Most of the schools provide igcse board in the name of ib board.
I want to know the difference and also what is future opportunity to study in abroad universities in both the boards. Also as cie is till 10 grade. How is futher education continued after that.
If u can also mail me the details ur talking about on mu emaip id firstname.lastname@example.org that would be realy great.
Hi Aditi, schools can't offer IGCSE in the name of IB world school. I think there is some misunderstanding. Most schools follow PYP for primary followed by cambridge's IGCSE for middle years and the IBDP for 11th and 12 grade. It's not mandatory for schools to follow all 3 programmes of IB (PYP,MYP and IBDP). School can choose to offer one or 2 or all the 3. But they have to get the affiliation for each individual programme separately. Even with affiliation for one of the programmes, it will be called IB world school. CIE is Upto grade 12. There are CIPP (Cambridge international primary programme) for grade up to 5, Then Cambridge secondary 1 for grade up to 8, Cambridge secondary 2 I.e IGCSE (for grade 9 and 10) followed by AS/ A levels ( for grade 11 and 12). After IGCSE (grade 10), student can opt for A levels or IBDP or any board for that matter. I will send the differences in email.
i sent the email. But it's not being sent as it's blocked by your boxbe account..
Can you please forward the mail for Roshmom. We would be shifting to Mumbai and would be putting up in Ghatkopar. Can u please enlighten some good schools there.
Can u also mail me the details please !
I have tried contacting you via personal message a week back but still awaiting a response
Hence not sure if you received it.
Hence I am copying and pasting my query below:
What are the implicaitons of directly doing the IBDP without having the MYP certificate?
To put it the other way, do MYP scores/ MYP certificate matter when it comes to Uni admissions, or is the IB score the only factor that is relevant?
Can you give your personal experience ?
Hi, sorry I didnt check this website for a long time. As the school mentioned, most universities don't bother about MYP certificate. All they need is IBDP score..but a few universities in Asia might require the myp certificate. Similarly in UK Oxford shortlists the candidates using IGCSE / any equivalent scores. So as long as your child gets a transcript for grade 10 exam, it shouldn't be a problem in universities in Asia. Hope you know that MYP exam is an optional one and the exam is internally assessed and only a sample is externally moderated. The newly introduced (2016) externally assessed eAssessment is also optional. many schools may not go for the exams. So it is not important. But you may want to check the criteria for Indian universities though. I am not very sure about them. Because 10th grade exam was optional for sometime . But it's going to be compulsory from this year. Criteria keep changing..
Hi roshmom.. thanks so much for helping out so many confused parents like us .. 4 yrs and still going... Great job.. .
I m based in chennai...And i m very much confused about these 2 boards ...Can u help me too and mail me ur suggestions
My mail id is email@example.com
Hi ShraviMom, Thank you. I have not been checking this website for a very long time now. So have missed replying to many posts above. Also Didn't realise it has been 4 yrs since the thread was started. It's wonderful to see that in last 4 yrs, a lot of changes have happened in IB to accommodate Indian students and more and more schools are either moving from Cambridge to IB or trying to become full IB school (at least in Bangalore). I will write to you by today evening.
Thanks so much
..pls check ur mail..
Hi Rosh Mom,
Like many others, i am also confused about putting my 2 years old daughter to IB board or IGCSE from long term perspective. I still have 1 year to make a decision but meanwhile i want to do some background research to come up with the conclusion.
Also i would like to have your suggestion on Pune's best school for both IB and IGCSE which can help me to decide.
My Email address is firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks in advance for your help.
Its wonderful to see you actively replying to the posts. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Like many others here, I am also trying to figure out the best board and best school for my 2 year old son. Will be really helpful if you share the details on my email - email@example.com
nice to see your guidance to many in this forum.
My son is 5 years and i am planning to enroll in IGSCE syllabus for std 1st. Need your help. Please share the details on my mail id.
Im happy that you are still keeping this thread alive. Appreciate it. My son is 7 years old and he is in ICSE school in Bangalore.
We are not quite happy with the current curriculum. My question to you is I generally see this trend in most of the International schools in Bangalore.
They offer PYP for grades 1-5 MYP for grades 6-8, IGCSE for 9th and 10th and IB diploma for 11th and 12th.Why do they switch to IGCSE for 9th and 10th grade alone?
Also could you send me the same mail to me as well? My mail id is firstname.lastname@example.org
Since i could interpret that combination of both IGCSE AND IB is ideal. What should be opted first as i would want enroll my kid soon in Nursery
Please mail me details for IB board and igsce
Its great to see that you have this great knowledge of the boards and helping us.
I am a parent of 2 kids in the CIPP (Cambridge Primary).
I would also want to know the differences between the IGCSE and the IB for the higher classes till 12th.
Can you please help me by sending email to email@example.com
Thanks a lot.
I went thru the entire thread and got a lot of information and more insight in a few hours as against looking for more information and clarifications regarding IB and IGCSE over the web.
We are shifting to mumbai and i am looking for an appropriate board of curriculum for my kids (gr2 and Sr.kg in cbse currently). I would really appreciate if you could respond to my queries as under:
1. Difference between IB and IGCSE and most of the boarders have posted here.
2. Impact of assessing the child at the time of considering further education in indian universities. More so I am interested in knowing the appropriate course of action to allow the child to be competent and eligible to apply for universities in India and abroad at the same time.
3. What are the options with the child studing in IB/IGCSE to apply for technical/enginnering universities.
4. when the school says that after grade 5 they willl access the child to identfy what curriculum is better for him, is that the apt way for going further.
5. Lastly why the schools offer PYP, MYP, IGCSE and then IBPD courses.
6. Where do ICSE schools stand in this?
Thanks a ton again for your responses and clarifications. It really means a lot to a bunch of us confused who have studied just the state board.
pls forward your responses to my email firstname.lastname@example.org. thanks
