We have recently shifted to Powai and looking forward to sending our 3 yr old son to a day care. I had tried them at a different location and found them very professional, unfortunately they are closed down.  Please suggest. Thanks

Hi Manzie,

We stay in Powai. My daughter goes to a daycare called Educare. It's in Powai PanchShristhi complex just opposite Eurokids. Its run by a lady who was a montessori teacher earlier. Its not a very commercial kind of a creche. Its has a very homely atmosphere and I found the lady to be a very caring and motherly person.  If you want, I can give you her number. My daughter has been going there for a year now and I am quite happy.

I had put my son in The Little campany by godrej. Very professional set up with good deal of manpower, space, well articulated activity calender and all systems in place in terms of giving a feedback of child on a day to day basis as to what they ate, their activity etc.

what is fee structure...i m  also thinking about it...

Manzie 2010-01-26 09:25:48

I found The little Company worth it. They have various activites from Karate to crafts to pottery etc which we would have otherwise paid extra and sent our kids. it's kind of one stop solution to working and also concerned parents. A record is maintained on a day today basis of your kids eating/ behavior/ sleeping patterns. They make a note of each and everything you want to know abt you child in your absence. Due to their network and professionalism by the time we reach our kids in emergency they will do the first step and in bombay i feel that's the most required.

Regarding the fees structure, they have different break ups for full day, post school, full day with play school, only activites from 5 to 7 etc ranging from Rs 8500 to Rs 1500

Hi,

Can someone help me with the fee structure at Educare? I have a 5 month old baby girl and we are planning to put her in a daycare in another 1 month's time.....

Try Vivero International preschool which has Daycare facility , it has started in Hiranandani Gardens. My kids go to the Pune branch daycare and it is good.

I am also looking to shift to Powai - Nahar's amrit shakti most probably. Can someone please recommend a nice and professional day care nearby for my 3 yr old daughter? She is currently going to Eurokids in Gurgaon which is very professionally managed and yet has a homely atmosphere.

keeku 2010-03-23 19:28:07

Hi Gemini,

You can try Kangaroo Kids in Raheja Vihar or Vivero International in Hiranandani gardens. Both are in Powai and are very professional day cares. Their charges range from 5000 to 8000 Rs per month.

Gemini 2010-03-30 11:59:26

Hi Keeku..Thanks a lot. Will be checking this out. Like I said, we have rented a flat in amrit shakti.

I am joining work in 15 days. I was wondering if I could put my 3 yr old directly in a formal school for nursery in June. She can then go to a day care once the school is over.

Can anyone recommend good schools in powai?

AartiR 2010-03-30 12:01:33

Both schools which Keeku had mentioned has pre-school and after school day care facility. That way you can save on time and efforts in commuting.

Hi I'll be shifting to Nahar's Amrit Shakti shortly. I am looking out for a Nursery cum Day Care Centre for my 2.5 year old son.I want to start sending my son to daycare from May.

I contacted Vivero International but they start functioning only from Mid-June. Kangaroo Kids is the only option I have now.

Can anyone suggest some other pre-schools with daycare facility.

Thanks

Can someone provide the contact nos. for Educare and Vivero.

I read somewhere that Amber Day Care in Powai is  also one of the best day care centres. Can some1 provide the address and contact numbers? Thanx.

keeku 2010-04-13 11:46:25

Hi , Since I visited Amber day care, I thought I will provide you with a feedback first.. The day care is run out of a residence of a lady. When I visited, I wasnt too comfortable with the way the kids were being handled. The infants/toddlers were hung from the ceiling is a drape type of a cradle. The cloth was soiled and the ones who could walk were also urinating where they sat or stood. In short no toilet training was being done. The family members who stayed at home, had the television on and some kids were sitting right in front, not sure for how many hours. I also had some issues about the cleanliness being maintained in the house.

AartiR 2010-04-13 12:02:47

Good that you have posted this feedback--- That is why I have always been advicing all PARENTS to PLEASE do not go for In-RESIDENCE Daycares / Maids , Professional Daycares are the Best even if they are expensive, after all it is your child's health and comfort which should be of higher priority than the day care fees.

keeku 2010-04-13 15:02:13

Aarti , I too believe in the same school of thought. Our infants/ toddlers, require 3 basic things - hygeine, training and balance of physical and mental activities. MY 3.5 year old daughter has grow up ina day care. She started going from the time she was 6 months old and I have never compromised with the 3 basic requirements i had in mind for her growing months. Today thankfully we have much better and professionally managed day cares and we should not think twice. I never believed a maid can be there for a child like a mother would be, however a day care environment is much more than what a mother can do for the child.

  • I completely agree , my daughter has been going to a daycare since she was 8 months old ,although we were abroad for 1st two years (they have much more professionally managed day cares as compared to India). But still anyday I would rate a professionally managed day care much more than a maid /residence daycare .They have no personal issues with the children as no body is owner there, all are employees. Also there are so many children so they have to maintain basic standards.
