Does Abacus really help children? I have 6 yr old twins - there's an Abacus class very close to where i live which is why i am tempted to send them. The question is - Is it really helpful?

It may be helpful coming from a different authority than their own mother plus with peer pressure. Also children tend to pick up faster from their own group. You are likely to face these challenges even though abacus can easily be taught at home.

My son will be 5 this sept and he goes for the abacus class once a week. He seems to be enjoying the learning process immensly. I had checked with the school authorities also before i enrolled him . They recommended it too. My prime concern was that my child would be confused with two methods of learning. But this class only seems to have strengthened his number knowledge.

@ vineetarishi - I have read some ads about Abacus but didn't give much tought to it until now because my daughter is 4 currently. I thought there's still some time before she can grasp in such classes. What would you recommend is a right age to enrol in abacus classes? Appreciate your input...

In my research i found the right age for the child to enrol is when they have completed 4 years of age. My son started this April . He goes to SIP academy's Accelearated Mental learning progrramme (AMAL). I asked for some past references before i enrolled my son and all the 3 parents I spoke to spoke well of the class. Based on this i enrolled my son and I am happy i did so. So for ur daughter - i think its the right age. Just make sure u have checked on the past performance of the class before u enrol.Hope this is helpful.

@ vineetarishi - yeah, this sure is helpful. And yes, it makes sense to check on the track record of the class. Thanks dear.

yes, abacus really works on kids.  ABACUS is an instrument to learn mental arithmetic. It is a mathematical tool which is only used to do arithmetic calculation easily and quickly as a calculator. It helps to increase  speed, efficiency, accuracy, concentration and memory power of students. IIVA is a great place to learn abacus and vedic maths through online/offline mode.
