Harry Potter Series should be started at wht age ?

My son is 9 yrs old can any one tell me wht is the right age for him to start the harry potter series .. He has heard from his friends and is quite eager to start them . Can any one guide me on this...

The first 2 or 3 books in the series can be started by 4 th or 5th graders. I.e suitable for 9 or 10 yrs. But the rest are for 12 and above.
