has your child been clinically diagnosed with learning disability? if yes, what recommendations did the psychologist give?

and how old is your child? sitting tolerance of half an hour is quite good for a small child, and okay for a big one.

poor eating habits are more indicative of emotional/behavioral/lifestyle issues. if a child eats snacks, he loses his appetite for meals. so you need to cut down on his snacking to improve his food habits

my preterm son will turn 9yrs this month and is in normal school 2nd std . he is orally v good in all subjects, he is v good at maths as far and it is his favourite subject. . But poor when it comes to writing . his notes are  incomplete he hardly writes one line or to maximum of 5 to 6 lines. when forcing a lot completes half of his notes. In school assesment he writes few answers and leaves off even he knows the answer . when i sit nxt to him and askes him to write the answer he answers. handwriting day by day is detorating. when in 1st std teacher use to come nxt to him and make him write the answer once she leaves him he doesnt write. now teacher is not doing that so he is not concerned to write... It worries me a lot. He is attending remedial classes in his school . the remedial teacher has told us he has learning disabilities.

He has problem making friends and throws trantrums for simple things, doesnot tolerate NO word. keeps thinking of it again and again.keeps complaing about his classmates. He thinks everyone are troubling him intatively. so far we are consouling him to get emotionally stronger.

i am looking for normal schools who accept my son with LD .and with lesser strength.

anybody pls suggest me regarding this..

with RTE in picture, no school can deny admission. however, you need to find out which schools will simply take your child, and which ones will really do something to help you. VIBGYOR is an inclusive school and so is Deens. other schools like Chrysallis, Harvest, are also very open to helping children. choice of school also depends on your location.

thank you Aanchal for the comments.

School has not deniyed the admission , i strongly feel .. my son is going down emotionaly. but remedial therapies have helped him a lot. he has borderline learning disability. but the report says he is lagging by 3yrs. he is v poor in motor skills and get tiered or shows no intrest in activities.

Definately i will try with the schools u suggested. it would be great help to if u suggest some more schools around marathalli.

Hi  Aanchal - Based on Pinkyarun's message, I assume the message I had sent you in June probably did not reach you! Is there a mail ID to which I can write to you? Alternately you could drop a test mail at vs_uma@hotmail.com

UmaHrishi: sent a test mail

  Hi pinky

I think you should also look at ABA therapy for your child. It might help a lot actually since all ur concerns sound familiar. Or are u already doing that?

pinkyarun 2013-08-27 13:01:33

My son is 12 yrs 9 months old and is in class 7.
He has learning issues and is not able to focus on studies at all.

He can watch TV or play TV based games for hous together - even 6 to 10 hours but when it comes to study or anything to do with it - even talk about studying - he gets irritated and shouts and screams.
When he is away from TV for a while - and he often realizes that he should study but he is not able to.
When he does sit down to study (which is very rare) - he cannot focus - seems not to understand and then gets frustrated and says he cannot and will not.
Earlier he was an average student - now in class 7 he is not able to cope at all - his scores have now dropped to 20-25% from 50-60% last year.
We have all kinds of tests and diagnosis done - docs say he does not have ADHD or similar - he is very intelligent otherwise.
I am worried - what should we do?

It could be an LD or an emotional issue blocking his learning. You may come to me for a consultation. You may send a session request to Info@confidentliving.co.in

My 12 year old son has been diagnosed with dyslexia. He is in an Igcse school in Mumbai. The English language is of a very high level and the school offers only Science and Commerce in senior school. I am worried about wether my son will cope.
Is is better for him to be in another board? Please advice.  What are the the advantages of ICSE board for dyslexic children.
