I am a father of a non varbal daughter with ASD and we are from Bangladesh. She is 6.8 years old now. She does not speak and does not understand our command as well. However, her other understanding is little better. We want to undergo therapies in India and thought of two options:
Option 1: Nambikkai Nilayam (Facility for children with intellectual disability) at CMC Vellore. where we may continue taking various therapies and take parental training.
Option 2: Kolkata. Taking therapies under Santanu Mukherjee and parent training under Autism Society West Bengal / Sunshine Autism. ( was advised by @kolcb much before but could not materialize)
Please suggest which option will be better. Can some of you share your experience in Nambikkai Nilayam ? @Kolcb , your thoughts please.....
@KolCB - Thank you for your prudent advises, as always.
I could manage two months leave from my office starting at mid December. I am planning one on one sessions with Shantonu Mukherjee. I am already taking online sessions with him and Milan Debnath. I am interested to undergo parents training also. Sunshine autism is not conducting parent training now.
Kindly suggest me an effective program at Kolkata so that time stayed there gives me best dividend.
Can you please suggest me some homeopathy and Ayurveda doctor at Kolkata or in india.
Is it possible to get your email address?
Thank you once again for your selfless attitude towards all the struggling parents.
I have twins - one boy & one girl. I am observing speech delay for my son. My daughter started picking speech from 2 year 6 months but my son is still non-verbal.
Some observations about my Son as following:- Speech issue (trying to pronounce alphabets since last one month but not very clear), If he needs something, he will point to the object or will try to get it by himself by pulling chair etc.Usually have tendency to press every object & Hand flapping whenever he is very excited Confusion in understanding multiple instructions (but understands fixed set of instructions) - Generalization issue. Does not focus on one task for long time (however can solve alphabet board -placing A-Z, 1-10 etc. as well as Points to object when he is interested but if he is not interested, we can't engage him to do those activities). Makes eye contact, recognizes name.
We stay at Jadavpur. Kindly suggest options for speech therapist and sensory center nearby. Also I have heard mixed opinion about ABA. Can someone share more light on this.
Hi, I am new to this amazing forum. My 2.6 year old son has been diagnosed with high risk of Autism (MCHAT). As i read online that 25hr to 30hr of intensive early intervention is so crucial at this age, we are considering Amrit Somani Memorial Center (5.5hr daily, 5days a week, currently offering 2hr classes daily due to Covid). We couldn't find any other reputed center providing such ABA intervention so we are considering relocating to Bangalore for the 10-months program at Comdeall (2hr daily, 5days a week). Autism Center for Excellence in NCR (5hr daily, 5days a week) is too expensive for us.
Is there any reputed intervention center i can consider in Kolkata or anywhere is India. We can relocate anywhere since I work online only. Your suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thanks.
Hi, I am new to this forum. My 21 month nephew recently has been diagnosed with autism. We have been told to consult Santanu Mukherjee for speech therapy. Can anyone help us regarding this issue?
How it is concluded that your nephew has autism? Have you consulted a Clinical Psychologist? Speech delay or speech issue at times may not be related to Autism Spectrum Disorder. Please start the early intervention if the child is delayed in meeting the developmental milestones as suggested by a physician but as far as I know Autism Spectrum Disorder cannot be confirmed before age of 3 years.
@rituparno he does not have eye contact. does not respond to his name. Walk on toes , move his eyes in a certain way. Always gazes at space. He can't speak and don't even understand who his mom or dad is. He has been diagnosed by Anindita chatterjee from peerless hospital.
@ kolcb thank you for your information. Everyone told us that he is so small that he can recover the symptoms. I just want to have some positive information from anyone who has gone through similar situation. Because right now everyone in my family is feeling helpless and empty.
Can anyone suggest me any successful autism therapy center in india? Can't trust the Google review and desperately need first hand information. We can relocate anywhere for the sake of our child
One good institute I know is gangaram child development clinic delhi.I have seen children improving .though my own son is slow but he is also improving .it is headed by dr praveen suman and dr imran noorani
Anyone interested can have a look at http://alphatoomega.org/india which is based in Chennai. You can also email them if they have any centres in other parts of India.

I posted in this forum for help and received a lot. specially from @gfj87 and @kolcb. right now my son is attending speech therapy from mr. shantanu mukherjee and ot from zahir abbas. At first we just ommited wheat and milk from his diet. recently we have consulted dietician aritra khan. If anyone in this forum please share their positive story it will be a great deal for me. Dear Parents
I am new to this group. My son is 3.2 years old and detected with mild autism. Upto 1.5 years of he has proper eye contact and responsiveness to his name calling. But during lock down period starting 2020 suddenly his eye contact and responsiveness fade away. He has habits of spinning in rounds, hand flapping, babbling, playing with his fingers, prefer to play and stay alone, communicate his needs with his parents only also have issues with bathing, brushing, teeth grinning. We have visited Dr. J R Ram and as per his suggestion currently in touch with Dr. Shaneel Mukherjee. My son is undergoing OT, Speech Therapy and Special Education for the last 6/7 months. Till now there is no speech improvement. Eye contact has improved slightly.
Please suggest what we can do more
Any other doctors or therapist we should visit
Shall we admit him in normal school or play school. Please suggest some names of helpful inclusive school.
We are thinking of visiting Dr. Deepak Gupta. If anyone has any past experience with him please share.
Looking forward for any help as we are very worried for our only son.
Thanks and Regards
Dear parents, I am a mother of 2.4 year old autistic son. I am also a government employee who is currently on sabbatical leave. But I have to join office after 8 months. My son is under Dr. Shantanu Mukherjee and mr. Zaahir abbass. They asked me to resume my office and not to leave my job permanently. Instead they told me to arrange a caregiver who can do all the therapy in my absence. Is anyone in this forum know a special educator or caregiver who can help me with my son?
I don't think any other person would take the same care as parents. Special Educators are required based on the nature of augmented education he requires irrespective of parents are working or not.
My son is 4 yrs old, i suspect he has a mild syndrome. Poor concentration, sometimes do make eye contact, point out at things also and sometimes respond to his name. He is restless when out. I am very worried about him, seems like end of the world. I am very shattered. Is it fully curable, can my son be cured fully?
