@kolCB and @arunadhati85, My 25momth old has been diagonsed for mild autism by observation only,we are yet to take the psychiatry test. He is undergoing speech therapy with Dr Probir Karmakar at speechplus..How do you reckon this therapist is? My child has just started with few words like 'ta ta' and 'blue'. Suggestions are most welcome from other memebers as any guidance will surely be beneficial.

My daughter is 5yr old she has some sensory issues and behavioural problems like adjustment in new atmosphere, hair cutting, brushing teeth..she got diagnosed with mild to moderate autism by dr.monideepa Banerjee when she was 2yrs 8months old..right now she doing with OT with jahir Abbas and Vikas Kumar(peerless), special education in Care for autism(baguiati)..we went to Chandan Biswas(dumdum) for her speech therapy but during her assessment my daughter turned extremely aggressive and Chandan Biswas started scolding her and then took her forcefully to OT room as a result my daughter started screaming and extremely violent..He told us my daughter has extreme behaviour problems she needs medicine and suggested me dr.praveen Kumar and bidisha Saha for ABA therapy..I don't want to give my daughter medicine..i read about jahir Abbas here and went to daughter was extremely calm and happy during her assessment with jahir sir and he told me my daughter doesn't need medicines but she needs behavioural therapy...i stay near dumdum airport area plz kindly suggest me some good behavioural therapists

@kolCB we started therapy with him in Jan end this year..his eye contact and sitting habit is improved a lot, he understands commands with visual prompting. As stated earlier he has just started with two words, though no speech yet..child is getting familiar with Dr Probir. The Dr is going to suggest psychiatric analysis in coming session. Can you give us some insight about the test and measures post evaluation.

@Priyanka87 Please get the CARS-2 assessment done every year so that you can gauge the progress. Suggest behavior modification therapy - you may consult Bidisha Saha and Dr Praveen Kumar for second opinion (I have consulted both of them earlier and was satisfied) - medication should be the last option. Chandan Biswas as a speech therapist is good but very eccentric at times. Bonding of the child with the therapist is very essential, please don't ignore this factor.

@Kolcb : My son is currently with medication with inspiral and brain iq by Dr. Debanjan Pan . As per Dr. DEBANJAN pan's suggestion my son is Doing OT and group activity therpy to develop social skill at saltlake institue of sensory and integration research centre once a week. Dr. Debanjan Pan has suggested my son is extremely impulsive and due to that sometimes he becomes oppositional. So he suggested to take apointment with good behaviour therapist and told me to involve more more group therapy activities to develop his social skill turn taking etc behaviour ?? Also I was going through internet and saw some institute called Caring mind and Dr. Prathama chaudhuri. Do you have any idea about this?

TBasu 2019-07-15 16:40:31

@kolcb & othrs : My son is already involved group play therapy on Saturday at saltlake isirc and we are planning to enrol him sunday evening @Dumdum Bikalpa for group therapy as Priyanka suggested above. But I am also looking for other one to many group therapy session including group speech thrapy. At saltlake isirc already have afternoon group speech therapy classes but as my son returns from school at 1 pm. So we can not enrol him there. So please suggest is there any group speech therapy centre.

Hello sanjub22,
Thanks for sharing your kid's details. Very good to know.
Can you please share the details of how are you treating your kid? Are you following Bio-medical?
Best regards

@kolcb : I have taken apointment with shibani for group therapy at bikalpa. But I have doubt with the medicine. My son takes inspiral at morning before going to school. I am his shadow teacher in class . So I can follow him in classs. After taking Inspiral his seating habit is increased. He can seat more than 1 hour in a chair and can follow board and also can answer questions when teacher asks him. Allthough sometimes he becomes inattentive when the class is going on , but even other normal children also become inattentive occasionally. But his impulsivity is not getting reduced. But my son becomes extremely excited whenever any park activities ,Pt classes, art and craft classes held in school and that excitement turns to impatient and physical aggression. What I observed in class as a shadow teacher to make my son independent in school it is required to reduce his impatience & impulsivity which actually triggrers anger and physical aggression . I told this situation to Dr. Debanjan Pan many times. But Everytime he says it is due to his extremely impulsivity and suggest me to involve him more and more grouo therapy classses. So that his patience ,turn taking ,waiting nature will improve and he can control his emotion. Inspiral has improved attention ,sitting habit but not reducing impulsivity. I am very confused. Apart from this impulsivity issue my son does not any other problem in school.only this problem is the drawback to make him independent in school. Already before Dr. DEBANJAN pan i consulted Dr. Anirbsn Roy who also gave inspiral & Dr. J Ram who gave attentrol. Now planning to consult Dr. Prathama chaudhuri to get some behaviour tips or what extra therapy is required. I am really confused what to do. My only intention to facilitate as possible therapy or activities to my son , so that he can gradually become independent.

@SouravDalal Its a not a good school for common school students let alone mild/ moderate autistic ones. Also they don't have any board accreditation. I would suggest Aditya Academy Raghunathpur or St Mary's Bangur over this school. However if it is possible I would insist on home education rather than a school.
