Hi Micky,
Thank you. My son is 5th Std and he is studying in Bhavan only. My problem is he is 9 years old and in 5th class. i dont know its because of his age or syllabus this year he is not able to co-op with the studies. last year he was in 80%. This year he is in 50%. When i asked him he says he is not able to understand. and as per age he is one year head so we wanted to repeat the class and change the school. Cannot repeat the class in the same school because he will get different kind of problems.
So i am looking for good schools. I thought of Indus World School. But i got negative feed back from so many people. How do you think DPS?
Pls reply.
REgards,
Manoja
Hi Manoja, Ideally he should be in Class 4 if he is 9yrs old.
Did you talk to his teachers ? There is no harm in repeating the class. But did u ask him ? He should be also comfortable enough to study the same syllabus again even if it is in a different school.
As such DPS is fine.
Rgds,
Mickey
Hi Micky,
Sorry for late reply. I had spoken to him and convinced him. Will see this year if he is still not able to cooperate with studies would like to give special coaching in summer. So that he will cover. Will try to see in that way so that year will not be wasted.
Do you have any idea about DAV Sailguda?
Regards,
Manoja
Hi Manoja,
Thats nice. No idea about DAV Safilguda. DAV in Kukatpally and
Banjara Hills is very good.

Hi Micky,
Thank you. Do you have any idea about DPS Diamond Point. I heard that it is good.
If you know any information like admission, fees structure, etc about DPS Diamond Point pls share with me.
Regards,
Manoja
Hi Manoja,
You can find the fee structure of DPS hyderbad in the following link
http://www.dpshyderabad.com/fee-structure.html.
However DPS Diamond Point's fee will be less than DPS, Madhapur(Hyd)
DPS, Diamond point is a good school. My friend's daughter studied here for 2 yrs before she shifted to New Delhi.
Also go through this link.

Hi Micky,
Thank you. I understand from the website that Delhi Public School, Diamond Point & DPS Nacharam are different. I have seen the fee structure in website.
I already told you na my son is now 9 yrs old. Do you have any idea about the age limit of DPS? If they say my son is running short of age then i dont mind repeating the class. If you know any thing about age cutoff limit then pls pls tell me.
i am ok if i get admission in 5 th 0r 6 th according to his age. and one more doubt i heard that they will have only limited seats so that we need to have recommendation to get seat. Is it correct? How difficult it would be to get seat in DPS, Diamond Point?
If you know any one administration person , pl give me phone no. I will speak to them directly.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Manoja
Hi Manoja,
That should not be a problem. It is better to talk to the Principal personally and not on phone. It makes a lot of difference. Sorry Manoja, i don't know anybody from DPS. But once when i spoke regarding mid term admission for one of the parents , they were quite open. There is no need of any recommendation. Try it out. Good Luck
Rgds,
Mickey
Hi Micky,
Thank you for your replies. You are knowledge book when it comes to schools.
I have read in one posting that your kid is studying in Chinmaya Vidyalaya. How are you feeling about the school? If that school is extra ordinary when compared to DPS then i will prefer Chinmaya.
As i already told you my sons problem is it possible to get the seat for 5th STD? What are the school timings? How will be the communication there? Here in Bhavans the class teachers and students also talk in mother tongue that is in telugu which is irritating me.
and i also wanted to tell you dont prefer Bhavans to any one. I am sick and tired of that school.
Pl Pls tell me some information about Chinmaya Vidyalaya and your personal experience as your kid is studying there.
Regards,
Manoja
Hi Manoja,
Chinmaya Vidyalaya is definitely good. My daughter is studying here for the past 6 yrs. The school believes in 'Simple Living and High Thinking'. The school does not believe in show off or any kind of publicity. It is non-profit organization.
I haven't seen teachers speaking in Telugu except for language classes. Communication is good. It is an English medium school. However there are no language labs like in DPS or Oakridge. I encouraged my daughter to speak in English at home too and made her write on different topics and created interest in reading diff types of books. Now she is voracious reader and is very good in creative writing and takes part in elocution too. I think, we can't rely on school totally for communication and writing skills. As parents, we too need to take pains to guide them and teach them if possible. Of course, the school should provide a solid foundation in all the subjects and the required atmosphere.
You can see my detailed review of Chinmaya in the following link to RSV and Aniki on 20th Jan '10 and 16th Apr'10 .
http://www.parentree.in/groupdiscussion-1489/good-schools-in-and-around-begumpet.html
You will have to enquire in the month of Mar or Apr'11 for vacancy in class 5.
If DPS or DAV is nearer, better prefer that school.
I found out about DAV Safilguda. The school is very good. My neighbour's son is studying in this school in class 8. Till last year, he was going to DAV, Banjara hills. As DAV, Banjara Hills is till class 7, he now goes to DAV, Safilguda. Iam told that Safilguda branch is till class 12 and is better than DAV, Banjara Hills. So please have a look at DAV, Safilguda too. Fee is also economical. My neighbour is very much satisfied with the school, its activities and communication skills too.

Mickey
Hi Mickey,
Thank you. yeah i also came to know about DAV, Safilguda. Its good when compared to Bhavan's.
As of now i shortlisted 2 schools, one is Chinamaya and DPS Diamond point. I dont mind repeating the class rather than giving pressure if i get the seat in the above said schools.
What i feel is the child should cooperate with the education.yesterday we had one small gathering and one of the parent whos daughter is studying in Bhavan's J'hills is one year ahead and next year she is going to 10th. She is saying she will manipulate her age in 10th class.
Is there any particular age criteria for CBSE? Will CBSE follow strict rules when it comes to age? Is it that easy to manipulate age??? because that girl should be in 9th next year according to age but she is going to 10th.
I dont want to give that much pressure to my son as he is one year ahead and ofcourse he will copup when we give extra 2 hours training. but what i feel is he will end up daily by reading. What my personal feeling they should also enjoy childhood and they should not feel education as burden.
He is very good in playing guitar. He loves to practice guitar. So i dont want to discourage him by giving education as extra burden which he cannot take. So i wanted to repeat the class as per age.
What do you say?
Hi Manoja,
It is not a problem. I don't know about all the maipulations and wouldn't recommend too. My cousin's daughter too is one year ahead and she spoke to the Principal long time back. There is no need of any manipuation unless she is below 13 or 12 .
There are other ways of requesting the Board if the child is extraordinarily bright.
She can as such go to CBSE website and know the details.
How can u manipuate so many records when a child is in class X ? It involves DOB municipal certificate and so many report cards too. Not advisable.
You can surely go ahead and repeat his class. There is no problem as such.
Do encourage his interest areas and let him study at his own pace. It doesn't really matter in the long run. Bottomline is, he should enjoy his schooling and education too.

Mickey
