Hi Micky/Parents,

I have to get my kid admitted in UKG. I 'm confused among two real good schools and methodologies.

GD Goenka Saroornagar, just starting this year is a nice school I felt . But its a Montessori School.

If I admit him in this, he will learn good ethiquettes and revolutionary way of education. But i'm concerned will he able to cope up first standard pre-requisites as for 1st I will have to change school (CBSE/ICSE/IB)

GD Goenka will start from Jun 19 they say. They are prviding school food option(good as workingparent)

Akshara is good but its same academics.

Fee wise Goenka is less (but that is not deciding criteria for me, I'm looking for a right decision)

I stay at Kothapet,Marutinagar.

Can you please help me to take a proper decision.

If I had to admit him in LKG , without single thought I would have admitted in La petite but for UKG , not sure what is correct.

have you you tried to contact shloka birla school? in akshara, I know few kids going in 3rd standard and they are doing pretty well. I am little skeptic also about Montessori kind of training, if I have consider the competition now a days. A YES to such schools if they cope up with the kids learning and writing activities par with the normal schools.  I heard it's good too. I will have to plan a shift by next June for my both kids. Please do let me know if you have decided anything. I stay at kothapet too.

I see that this discussion is more about the ability of child to cope up with academics in 1st standard when he joins CBSE/ICSE/IB. I believe he/she will surely do, may be she will take some time to adjust to new curriculum. But the way her neurons get trained from 0-5years will be with guide her personality for the life time. I cant convince you over a small post over a forum like this but I suggest you to read a beautiful book: Brain Rules for Baby: How to Raise a Smart and Happy Child from Zero to Five.
Also, if I look at myself (Just to give you an example in this context) - I was not academic oriented in my school days. In fact I scored zero in an entrance test of a school in 6th standard. But that didn't stop me from scoring 100/100 in 10th nor it stopped me from clearing IIT-JEE. I don't want to brag about myself, but I thought an example is better than 1000 words. After reaching IIT, I realized what I really missed in life and I decided to give my child the best (not by enforcing, but by exposing him to various activities to let him choose what's best for himself).

With this in mind, I have got my son's admission in a school with Montessori methodology.
Hope this helps.

Best wishes,
