I am planning to shift to hyderabad in 2011. I have a 11 yr old daughter who will be in std VIII next year. I am looking for job at a company which has offices in secundrabad and at rajbhavan road. So I would like to know good schools of icse syllabus, maximum yearly fees of 40-50k as i am a single parent and can't afford anything more.
Hope somebody can help me with this.
There is still lot of time (one yr). You will have to try in Apr/May '11 when the forms are given depending upon the vacancies for class 8 in different schools.
If you are at Rajbhavan road, you can try Nasr. Its the best ICSE school for girls.
There are many extra curricular activities for girls.
Forms will be given in first week of May'11 followed by the entrance test in the end of May or first week of June. You can also try in Neeraj Public School (ICSE)in Ameerpet. HPS and Gitanjali at Begumpet are equally good ICSE schools.
U prefer NASR first followed by Gitanjali, HPS and then Niraj if you plan to stay near Rajbhavan raod. All the above schools will be near and in your budget too.
If you are planning to stay in Sec'bad, you can try in St Anns and Johnson's Grammar school.
You can also try in St Josephs in King Koti. It will be equidistant from RajBhavan road or Sec'bad.
So start keeping a tab on these schools from the end of March/ April 2011. You can call them up and find out the admission status. Any help, lemme know. U can get in touch with me.
thank you for the info. actually i started enquiring now cause here admission forms r actually given out in december and by February all admissions closes.
Forgot to mention one requirement, I prefer her studying in a co-ed school. Also, was looking for cambridge because I couldn't find much schools there with ICSE syllabus. CBSE is also ok, but their hindi standars will be high i guess for a student coming from ICSE?
oops keep on remembering points after i press the sent button :). if possible would prefer a school where they have a mess option. am a terrible cook plus my kid like other kids hates veggies. so if hvaing food at school, she might get a balanced diet.
oops again. do all these schools have high donations???
also, i can take a house near her school and travel to my office. not a prob. though it should be an area where the rents r not so high.
The schools which i have mentioned above will not have much donation. I think it should be around 40 to 50 k or even less . Only few International schools have high donations.
If u r looking for a Co-ed school ,u can try HPS and Gitanjali. HPS has a mess facility.
U can also try for Future kids (ICSE) in Nanakramruda which is a bit far. My neighbour's daughter goes to the same school and she will be in X next year.
I stay at Rajbhavan Road so u can try for Future kids too as it has a transport and good mess facility.
You can try Chirec(CBSE) in Gachibowli if vacancies are available next year. At Hyd, the admission forms are given for LKG,UKG in the month of Oct/Nov/Dec and admission closes by feb. For higher classes it starts in the month of April and closes by June. But we do have to keep a tab from feb onwards.
Chirec follows CBSE. It has Cambridge curriculum too and has good mess. Cambridge curriculum in any school will be expensive. It wil be more than 1 lakh.
Transition from ICSE to CBSE is easy. Your daughter will be able to cope up easily.
If your daughter opts for second language as French in CBSE school, she can take Hindi as third language. From IX they have only second language which can be either French/Hindi/Sanskrit. As such u don't have to worry about Hindi. An ICSE student can easily cope up with Hindi.
It would be ideal to decide where u would put up and decide the school accordingly.
You have good CBSE schools like BVB, JHPS in Jubilee hills.
I am not sure if mess facility is available in St Josephs , Gitanjali and Jonhsons Grammar school. All the above mentioned schools are co-ed. We will have to find out from the numbers given in its website
You have Gitanjali Devshala in Secbad too.

putting up, am looking for an area where i can get a house below 5k as rent. my kid is now traveling around 10 km one side to her school now. so journey is not much of a prob. i thought i would think about the accommodation depending on where i get a good school. i have a two wheeler. so hopefully my office journey wont be very hectic other than traffic :)
Rents in Somajiguda ( places around Rajbhavan road )are pretty expensive. 3 bedroom flat is around 25 to 30 K per month. 2 bedroom will be around 18K or so.
What's your budget?
You can try in Ameerpet, a few locations in Erramanzil , Khairatabad , Secbad , Kukatpally , Miyapur too where the rents are low. If you have any relative in Hyd , they could do some survey for you . I
You can search for a house when u come down to complete admission formailities. It is better to do then.
Where is ur office ? Travelling very long distances (above 10Km) daily by two wheeler is not advisable in hyderabad's hectic traffic. You will land up dead tired after going through so many traffic snarls and will be left with little energy to spend time with your daughter after u come home. You can prefer a company cab or some other means of transport. So lemme know ur office location.
she likes french and has some studied some and maybe can do a first level course while she is here this year with alliance francaise so that it will be easy for her to cope up with it in school. so then i guess moving to cbse school is not much of an issue.
there r two offices for the company that i am looking at. one is at rajbhavan road and other at secunderabad, near paradise hotel. i have my brother in law and family there, and also a friend, who suggested in and around secundrabad, where rent is low. near about sainikpuri?
is niraj public school good? and any idea about the fee structure? also niraj international school?
Niraj Public School at Ameerpet is good. The fee should be around 50K. I called the school 4 months back. I have not read good reviews about Niraj International Schoo in this forum.
Some parents weren't happy with the International school. You can check out in this forum using the search tool.
howz diksha school? do they have till X?
Diksha is a good school based on waldorf system. You can see Tejaprasad's review on 15th Apr'10 in the below link. It is near Alwal.http://www.parentree.in/groupdiscussion-3018/Schools-near-Alwal---Komplly.html
Waldorf is a stress free and involves a play way method of teaching. U can know more about it from some parents whose children are in waldorf schools in the below link. Refer to Vijayagowri and Sunithacapgemini 's reviews.
I have a query. can i now put my kid in Waldorf system? will she be able to cope?? ICSE pressure i guess is too much or sometimes it might become different if the student teacher ratio is less. at her current school it is 43:1, which i think is too much. :(
I don't think, your daughter will now like Waldorf system after coming from ICSE board at high school level.
I would actually suggest you to join her in a good CBSE school if u want to reduce her stress. It would be better for her. Personally I don't know much about this system nor interacted with any child from waldorf schools.
Lemme know when u come to Hyd. Nowthat CBSE is doing away with X boards, there will not be much stress for the child. Only grades are given. They have CCE. Continuous Comprehension Evaluation throughout the year. X Boards will be optional from this year onwards. We will get more clarity in this regard shortly from the CBSE board soon.
august, am coming to jst see the schools and the place and to decide where to. moving hopefully by may end as school will start in june.
