I am seriously considering Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul School, Hyderabad; for my son for 1st Class for the year 2016 - 2017.  Request you to share feedback, pros, cons of this school.

Pn124 2015-12-03 15:00:39

My son is also studying in the first grade in swaminarayan school.  I feel education is okay but infrastructure is not good.

Pros:
Good education. My son became good in studies
traditional school
moderate fee
Cons;
Timings are too long (till 4 PM)
transport service is not up to the mark. Previously they said they will be available by 7:15 AM but now citing few students dropped out, the bus is coming at 6:50 AM only. It is very difficult especially in winter season to make my son ready by 6:50.

Hi PN124,
Thanks for your prompt response.
In a society where most of the schools are driven by instant profits, greed; this is one of the few schools functioning for social reasons.  As every school has it's pros and cons.  With these cons, I still don't see any other school which can come close to this school in the overall value for money, peace of mind and discipline given to child.
On the Infrastructure, no other school has such a big campus.  What exactly are you refer by meaning Infrastructure ?

Would be glad to speak to you, if you are aok.

kireeti 2015-12-28 11:19:26

Dear Pn124
What about the faculty's communication at school?
where do you stay?
Really 6:50AM is too early.

kireeti 2015-12-28 11:21:10

Hi,
Journey time is 1 hour so long, will the kid is not getting tired off.

Hi Pn124, shanti swaroop,
How about the education for day scholors?
Are they combine hostlers and day scholors in the school?
There is a new building in the premises and says, that it is for day scholors, is it true?
I had visited a day back to school, and confirmed seat for my son to grade-V.
But i don't like the class rooms in the old building. AV projectors provision was there but projectors were not visible in class rooms.
What about the communication skills at school and sport , extra curricular activities in school for day scholors?
please reply

Chaitu15 2016-01-04 18:03:40

3. Does the school have smart boards and teaching
4. Student to Teacher Ratio
5. School Timings
6. Extra activities in the school apart from studies
7. Is this school only for Boys?
8. Quality of Education
9. Overall feedback from a parent whose kids are studying at school.

Pn124 2016-01-05 09:20:20

Hi Kireeti,

Hi Pn124, shanti swaroop,
How about the education for day scholors? - Education and teachings will be similar for both day and hostel students. However, as you aware, parents need to take care of home work for day scholors.  We currently spent at least one hour for the home work which is normal, I guess.

Are they combine hostlers and day scholors in the school? - Yes

There is a new building in the premises and says, that it is for day scholors, is it true? - No idea. My son is in old building only. May be that is for higher grade students.

I had visited a day back to school, and confirmed seat for my son to grade-V.
But i don't like the class rooms in the old building. AV projectors provision was there but projectors were not visible in class rooms.
What about the communication skills at school and sport , extra curricular activities in school for day scholors?
please reply - I agree and that is the reason, I said infrastructure is not up to the mark in my previous posts. communication skills are just average of my son's teachers. Rest, I don't know. Office staff communication is below average

Sports and extra curricular - once in a month, they conduct sports day it seems but no regular sports activities for day scholers.

kireeti 2016-01-05 11:25:20

Thank you Pn124,
It was communicated that the hostlers day schedule and day scholors schedule is different.
Means there are hostler section and day scholor section as different. I hope so.
What about journey time for your kid?
Is he not getting tired with long travel?

I got admission for my son in this school for 5th Class this year (2017).  Please share your experience with this school for last one year.

ShantiSwaroop 2017-01-31 17:13:43

I am happy and will continue our son their next year, it gives me an opportunity to have him in Hostel in 5th Grade.
I am happy because
Driven by social good instead of quick profit; Reasonable fee, Run by swamijis; 20 Years in HYD, 30 schools all over India, Pearson Curriculum, Projector in Class, 35 acres of campus, fresh air.
What Can be Better in School
Wash Rooms to be better maintained.
School bus should have a Sir / helper who monitors the activities in bus.

We live in Seilingampally, ShantiSwaroop@gmail.com, Cell: 9440345670
Good Luck.

Hi parents, My son got admission into class 1 for academic year 2017-2018 in gurukul Hyderabad... He has travel from Bachupally probably route no 11 ... 1) any fellow members who travel this long.. Pls help me decide... 2) how is the day scholars for primary school 3) how involved r parents (moms) in ptms and other stuff.. Where staff(swamyjis) don't see a woman.. 4) how about food restrictions for day scholars.. Even they aren't allowed to bring onion garlic stuff I may sound silly, but its very important for me to know before I decide... Thanks in advance vahni

ShantiSwaroop 2017-02-14 00:44:37

We are in Serilingampally, we are Bus No: 13.  These 20 buses cover all the major routes.
Our son is 1st class now and we will continue him next here as well.
Many parents of our son's section are in WhatsApp group.
During PTM's on Saturdays after exams, some of the parents get to meet.
Swamij's are NOT part of PTM, me and my wife have attended all PTM's till now.
We don't send Egg / Omelet / Nonveg for lunch or snacks.
In a society, where majority of schools and hospitals are driven by extreme financial greed, where schools profits are more important than welfare of children or society or anything.  Gurukul is one of few schools driven by social objectives.  There's no pressure to buy a specific dress or shoe or others.  There's NO FORCE to make you buy something specific to make their commissions.
I have met Swami and had a 1-1 discussions for more than an hour.  These swami's are good and have sacrificed their lives for welfare of society.  These swami's are knowledgeable on all the challenges of Families, Children, Society and how Television is destroying Indian Families and Children.
What Can be Better in Gurukul School
1. Every school bus MUST have a Helper and a responsible Sir.  This is very important because these children are capable of doing all the naughty and mischievous things in buses and are capable of getting seriously injured.
2.  Washrooms in general can be improved.  One can live without going to a temple but not wash room.  No point in maintaining a clean temple and poor washrooms.
3.  Write an Email to Swami (Swami Vishwamangaldas Swami)  at Gurukul Hyderabad <hyderabad@gurukul.org> and clearly mention above two points and take a written confirmation saying to have a responsible sir in school buses bus journey is SAFE, SECURE and CALM.  And that quality of Wash Rooms is improved.  I have had multiple 1 - 1 discussions with this Swami, he's a very good person with knowledge, discipline, concern, hardworking and makes sure to improve the school every year.  So mothers can kindly write emails to Swami and Fathers can directly speak to Swami on all issues of school.  Swami is just awesome and outstanding.
4.  Instead of boys only school, this school should be changed to Co-Ed; as many parents who have 1 boy and 1 girl; it will be good to send both kids to same school.
In the big picture, I would strongly recommend this school it gives you holistic education at a reasonable prices with 35 acres, 21 years, 30 schools, Pearson Curriculum, CBSE Syllabus and an option to have residential from 5th class on wards.

ShantiSwaroop 2017-02-14 00:47:06

Swamiji's are excellent background operators and are involved in directly teachers from behind the scenes.  Their focus is Planning, Strategy and Execution.  They will NOT meet all parents for all normal issues.  These Swami's work for 16 hours a day out of their dedication, passion and service to society.

PReddy 2017-11-16 12:32:23

Heard from a parent that the transport facility is a CON and sometimes even the attendant/helper on the bus will not be there and driver alone will be there. So pls get clarity/conformation on that. One of my colleague who joined his kid there in 1st Gr is planning to pull him out for this alone reason

Kannan1112 2017-11-22 08:16:13

is it only for boys.  I sense from this forum that it showing as only boys school

ShantiSwaroop1234 2018-01-27 05:06:48

I think nearest school (affordable school) is the best school because
1.  Kids get to spend less time in traffic and pollution.
2.  Kids get to sleep more.
3.  Parents can visit school often, and can build a relation with teacher, so that kids know that Parent & Teacher are in sync all the time.
4.  All schools more or less teach the same thing.  And every school has it's pros / cons.
