Hi, we had attended the interaction for Nursery class in the last week of November in Chirec, Kondapur Campus. Had called up the school a number of times to find out the status and they kept saying selected candidates have been sent a confirmation mail while rejected candidates have been sent a regret mail. I din't receive any mail yet and am really confused.

The interaction session did not go very well according to me as the teacher who interviewed us was a little taken aback when I said that we both (myself & my husband) work and the child goes to a daycare and would continue to do so when he joins school. I could have lied saying he goes back home to his grandparents but opted to share the truth. But from the teacher's expression I could understand that she was not very happy with the fact presented.

Even I went for the interaction in the last week of november. Have'nt got any email yet. When I called them up today , they informed that the first list is out and asked me to wait till next week. Seems the chances are remote now . Meanwhile have gotten through in DPS and have proceeded with the same. However am personally  not able to rate still which school is better between Chirec and DPS

krishnalatha 2013-12-20 14:20:52

Same here. They asked to wait for a week more... lets hope for best

raju85 2013-12-20 14:26:56

@krishnalatha....we had applied for pp1 cbse. How about you . And what are the schools you are looking at for a backup...

HappyMom2013 2013-12-20 14:29:15

@ raju85: Even my child had got through DPS but we did not opt for it because I wanted Nursery class for my child. Though DPS calls the class as Nursery, it is I guess LKG. My child is a March born and so do not wish to pressurize my child and hence am planning to put him in a pre-school most probably Oi Pre-school. Will try the bigger schools next year.

DPS & Chirec are almost on the same level I guess. I totally understand your dilemma because I was equally confused when I was trying for the bigger schools. I had listed the following: Glendale / Chirec / DPS.

raju85 2013-12-20 14:39:12

@happy mom.....Even my daughter is April born . But she is going to a playschool, globetoters for nursery already . So if she joins DPS for Nursery/ LKG , it should'nt be too much pressure for her. Also, I do not want to delay the decision any further. Last year , i had applied for Nursery which is the starting level at chirec and got a confirmation within a week. However, I did not proceed because of the same fears of a bigger school vs the comforts of a playschool. And this year, though i went for the orientation for pp1 on 23rd Nov , no response yet .

krishnalatha 2013-12-20 14:50:31

@Raju We also applied for PP1 CBSE. Attended orientation 23rd November.

raju85 2013-12-20 15:04:34

As a matter of coincidence, ours was also on the same day. And my presumption was that the earlier the orientation with the school, the brighter the chances of getting through. If I am not wrong, 23rd was the first batch of interactions for pp1.

Did you get any mail from chirec?

HappyMom2013 2013-12-28 11:46:49

Yes, yesterday received the mail confirming provisional admission.

HappyMom2013 2013-12-30 10:30:23

Dear All,

Please help me out in taking a decision of whether to put my child in Chirec or not. What are the advantages and what are the disadvantages?

Hear a lot about attitude problem of management in the school and attrition rate of teachers is very high.

Please help!!

iamaparent 2013-12-30 10:34:07

@HappyMom2013, what are the alternate options do you have?

HappyMom2013 2013-12-30 10:40:53

Alternate option now is to put him in a pre-school for a year and then try bigger schools for PP1.

But if Chirec is considered one of the best I don't want to miss the oppurtunity...

HappyMom2013 2013-12-30 10:43:32

SyamalaRani: Chirec has 3 branches: Pre-school in Jubilee Hills, Main campus in Kondapur and another branch in Gachibowli. It is supposedly one of the esteemed schools in Hyderabad.

schoolhunter1 2013-12-30 11:04:06

HappyMom2013 , unless you live far off from Chirec's campus (at JH or Gachibowli for the lower classes), it might be a good idea to enroll your kid in Chirec. Chirec is about 25 years old, and is regarded as one of the better schools in the city. Having said that, the point that you mention about the staff being inaccessible has been repeated in many threads in this forum, but equally parent have expressed their satisfaction with the school. In terms of the attitude problems developed by the students (as was mentioned in one of the threads here), I think that is as much built at home as at school. So if you are okay with the fees, you can go ahead and admit in Chirec. Next year you never know whether you will get admissions in any of the renowned schools, leave aside Chirec. The number of applications are very high, and in Chirec nursery is where the maximum seats are, because from LKG onwards, the seats are based on vacancies mostly.

iamaparent 2013-12-30 11:20:49

@HappyMom2013,
I personally did not consider Chirec for the high fees & location(far from my house). But I have heard mixed reviews about Chirec, like you will hear about all the schools. I had heard in this forum that in DPS, kid of 6yrs got spoiled with access to iPad etc but it is also true in DPS, if anyone is seen with iPad/any gadget inside school premises, guardian will called & warnings is given, so lot has to do with the upbringing & culture at home, too.

I agree with schoolhunter that you can go for Chirec. In case you have a better choice or not happy with Chirec, you can opt for that next year. You only have to let go the admission fee etc that you had paid for Chirec, but I guess that is ok at least IMHO. After seeing the agony parents are going through to get admission in higher classes, it is always better to have a solid option in hand.

HappyMom2013 2013-12-30 11:22:09

Thanks @schoolhunter1.

Totally agree with you that attitude problem of the child depends on both school and home environment. No issues with that.
My concern is that if the management has so much of an attitude will I be able to discuss any concerns with respect to my child's progress, or they would stick to the policy that "we are the best...like us and stay else get lost" attitude...

As you say it is one among the good schools available in Hyderabad is the only thing which is making me think...

raju85 2013-12-30 12:29:15

@happymom2013 ... The biggest advantage i see with chirec is that till pp2 the child gets to enjoy the complete environment of a proper playschool like kangaroo kids, globetoters, oi etc. unlike in some of the other bigger schools where even in LKG , there is a seriousness in the air.
We have secured admission in DPS and Chirec. But I did not get the desired branch and i was not willing to send my daughter so far especially at such a tender age . When i went there with a request for a change in branch , they did not accept it at all . But I really cannot hold that point against them as it is simply possible for any school to heed to all the parent's demands. They did give me an option to shift the branch if i was willing to change from CBSE to Cambridge. If the distance is not an issue for you , I don't think it is wise to leave the decision to next year.

raju85 2013-12-30 12:33:01

I now have an option of choosing between CHIREC (cambridge) or DPS (CBSE). I personally prefer CBSE but am more attracted to CHIREC . In a dilemma now regarding which is the better Sylabbus between the two.
Any inputs would be appreciated.

HappyMom2013 2014-01-01 12:15:12

Hi, Wish you all a very Happy New Year....and a big Thank You to all who have helped me with going ahead with the decision to go for Chirec...I was really confused all these days but now the confusion is over with all the suggestions received from this forum. Thank You once again!!

pappamamma 2014-01-04 13:09:10

Hi.

Please share your thoughts on deciding school for my kid  for Prep I among Chirec(cambridege) and DPS(Cbse). i need to decide by Monday, and any inputs or suggestions are appreciated. @Raju i think you had been thru the same situation and your thoughts might help us in taking decision. I am planning to relocate to near by locality if school is decided. Actually i was interested in Chirec, but thinking of Cambridge whether it will suit our environment?. I know for who are planning to go abroad it is defenetely benifitable ,but i was not much intereseted in abroad .Anyway in  my case its too early to decide on that aspect  as still we had 12 to 14 years and lot of things get changed.

Please suggest Pros and Cons if I had to go with Cambridge ( in view currently planning to settle in india).

Any inputs on this aspect will be helpful for us.

Thank you.

raju85 2014-01-04 14:18:03

@pappamma....i actually had a choice between dps (cbse), chirec (cbse) in the gachibowli branch or chirec (cambridge) in jubilee hills (this option was given to me as i was very keen on the jubilee hills branch but they did not agree fro cbse at jubilee hills branch). Finally after visiting the gachibowli branch , i have enrolled in it with the cbse curriculum. No doubt the cambridge sylabbus seems better than cbse, but like in your case, i am not too willing to send my kids abroad in the future because i am quite positive that we should be having worldclass universities in india in the long future to come . CBSE seems to be tried and tested with a majority of students opting for it. In your case , if you are keen on CBSE,  you can go for DPS. If you are ok with cambridge, then chirec to me personally seems to be a slightly better option with smart class options etc. Plus the prepimary way of teaching is a little more child friendly in chirec.

Hi raju85,
