Hi Shona, Congrats for getting selected in DPS. By any chance do you know if DPS already started interaction for Prep as well.

1sanju 2013-12-04 14:44:11

Hi Shona- We have decided the priority so we will pay fee 80k on Sat but If we get selection in BVB then we will go for BVB . For our ranking basis BVB is first then DPS. we will not prefer for CHIREC because it is too costly comparitively DPS.and the fee amount of DPS can recover in three years if we get selection in BVB. SO I am ready to take this risk. all these are my Views only u can chose whatever suites for u.

shona2010 2013-12-04 15:21:54

Kiran4hari - I did not ask specifically about prep interaction but none were there in the morning slot when we went.

1sanju - Your logic does make sense. On our priority list as well, BVB and Obul Reddy are ahead of DPS. Still I am hesitant to 80 K. On the flip side, there could be a situation that my son could not get through the lottery system in other schools, then we would regret missing out on DPS. Hopefully we would make up our mind soon :)

Shona 2010- even today itself after interaction in DPS we went Kennedy and bought application form of 3k but while filling that form got confirmation from DPS.that 3k totally waste for us but we can not take risk so  we have to do all these things for better future of kid.

shona2010 2013-12-04 17:29:59

1sanju - Agreed. You need to take some risks hoping the results will be fruitful. Btw if I am not wrong you have applied for Nursery in DPS ? Also, how far do you stay from DPS and are you planning to opt for transport.
We need to check all these factors before confirming with the admission fees on Sat'day. I was later told that they have displayed the complete transport route map on their notice board but somehow I missed the notice board today.

anybody attend interactions for DPS for PP2  already? If yes, when did that happen and how did it go? Any idea on the number of seats they have for PP2 this time for Fy-2014-15 around?

vhars 2013-12-04 18:02:26

Hi 1Sanju, what do you mean when ou say that the fee amount can be recoveed in 3 years if you get in BVB.

sreehyd 2013-12-04 18:05:55

The difference in cost between DPS and BVB can save you 80k in next  3 years

Madan78 2013-12-04 20:03:47

Has anyone got interaction time at DPS for nursery/lkg tomorrow?

Given that we have a bandh in hyderabad tomorrow, DPS has declared holiday.
but then there has been no intimation on whether the interaction is going to
be canceled or not.

So I was curious to check if any of us has an interaction for tomorrow and if
there is any intimation on the same.

-thanks
Madan

shona2010-I  applied for PP1 and we stay in miyapur so it is necessary to opt transportation facility.yes they have displayed tranport route on board, I checked that route.I will also confirm if there is extra fee other then they displayed on board.

Vhars- yes, we can save this 80K amount in next three because free difference is too much in between DPS and BVB.

kiran4hari 2013-12-05 11:23:37

hi Shona, yes in DPS they had displayed the transport route on the notice board.

shona2010 2013-12-05 11:26:53

PP1/LKG is called Nursery in DPS and Prep is (PP2/UKG). So our kids are in same class - Nursery.
Thanks, I got to know the transport route, it comes right in front of our apartment but my worry is that we stay in Bhills and 10 Kms tarvelling to school is very tiresome for the little ones. Which other schools are you applying apart from BVB ?

1sanju 2013-12-05 12:54:31

Shona2010- apart from BVB no other school. I am satisfied with DPS . I had applied in Chirec and Kennedy but now don't want to go for these schools.so will you go tomorrow for fee submission in DPS?u can take my personal mail id simplesanju@gmail.com.

1sanju,

Why you are not considering P Obul Reddy? I heard P Obul Reddy & BVB are of the same category?

schoolhunter1 2013-12-05 13:54:59

I think definitely Obul Reddy matches up with BVB. This is a fantastic school, and we tried last year at LKG but could not make it through the lottery for our daughter. They have little better odds compared to BVB, is what I thought. As an example BVB had about 800 odd applications for draw of lots for 60 seats, of which only 30 were general seats and the others were alumni/sibling seats. Comparatively, ObulReddy had about 600 odd applications for 55 odd seats.

Also, Obul Reddy is like a finger in the eye that good education need not cost a lot of money even in today's world. f I remember right, they charged about 14K as tution fees which is about a fifth of what others charge as tution fees and yet is one of the best schools in Hyderabad.

In addition, the lottery process that they carired out was by far the most transparent that I had seen. Unlike in BVB last year, where the applications were brought out for open draw of lots on the lottery date, in Obul Reddy, each kid's representative had to arrive half an hour before the draw of lots with a counterfoil of the application form, which would be stapled and then they would themselves put inside a glass bowl kept out in the open. This bowl would then be taken to the main dais for the draw of lots. By no means I am saying that the draw is rigged in BVB, but I was very impressed with the simple process at Obul Reddy that demonstrated transparency in the selection.

In terms of bus routes also, Obul Reddy has similar coverage as BVBaround the IT areas. Of course we did not get lucky in either, but if we had an option, would have settled for Obul Reddy definitely. I think there is nothing to split educationor infrastructure wise between BVB and Obul Reddy, but the later is a non- profit organization as far I know, and it shows in the extremely lower fees and good education imparted.

Thanks schoolhunter1, that was a very detailed info, indeed. One thing keeps me wondering, if these schools take kids on lottery, then how are they able to produce such good results year after year? I mean there is hardly anything to differentiate between kids at this age, but still other schools do judge where these schools are taking based on lottery.

Is it like the ones who can't compete with the competition, gets left out in higher classes & the school take fresh admission based on performance?

charanchandu 2013-12-05 15:23:24

Yes apart from the results how the girls and boys ratio in a class is managed? if it is lottery.

schoolhunter1 2013-12-05 15:29:31

That is an interesting question that you ask. I do not have much information regarding the higher classes, but I do not think they have very many vacancies in the higher standards anyways. So it is unlikely that folks get replaced at higher classes. I think the establised older schools have mostly career teachers, who are also trained ones (B. Eds etc.). If you look around, the newer schools massively lack in terms of qualified teachers, somewhere the assumption is anyone can become a teacher- which is flawed logic at the core. I do not know for a fact, if that becomes more of a problem at higher classes compared to starting classes or not- but I think it has to do with the quality of teachers in these schools that they can take in students based on lottery, and produce relatively good results at class X. That if ture, is really commendable.

schoolhunter1 2013-12-05 15:38:38

The draw of lots that I saw at BVB, Obul Reddy and other shcools last year, none of them had specific slots for girls and boys- just as nature maintains a ratio of male to female, I guess laws of average maintain that when 50 odd folks are picked up from a universe of 500- 800 :) In addition, there is no language based, social strata based discrimination in these draws unlike in the other schools where multiple parameters are considered.

shona2010 2013-12-05 15:59:08

Just a query - Is there a separate forms and lottery system for BVB (JH) and BVB (ARS) ?

sraval 2013-12-05 16:51:10

@kiranhari,today we had interaction at DPS for pp2.
They are asking kid personally  just alphabets oral, numbers ,rhymes .
And at principals room she is asking their name, school, and why do they like their school, and one rhyme.
she is asking parents why r they interested to join in that school.

schoolhunter1 2013-12-05 17:11:05

Sraval, Any idea on how many seats are there for PP2 this time? Also, when will the results be announced?

Shona- yes, these being different schools, the admission forms and draw of lots are held seperately. The Atmakuri BVB is just 4 odd years old and hence I guess it would be easier to get in there compared to JH.

shona2010 2013-12-05 17:27:44

Thanks Schoolhunter1 for the information. Tomorrow, I will callup BVB Atmakuri school reg the dates for admission forms etc.

iamaparent 2013-12-05 17:38:56

@sraval,

Can you pls elaborate a bit? You mean the kids were asked question twice, once in general & once in principal room? And they asked the kids why the like their current school or why they like DPS? I was not clear from your info..

Abhishikta123 2013-12-05 19:39:39

IIf you are geting ur kid admitted to DPS then why you are also thinking of BVB? Can you please clarify as I am not understanding??

shona2010 2013-12-05 20:25:12

@Abhishikta123 - Your question is genuine. Even we are in great dilemma. DPS is definitely good school but considering the below factors, decision making is getting tough for us -
1. Distance to school > 10kms. Thats quite a bit for a small kid.
2. Overall Fees + Transport comes around 1.2 L per annum. It is reasonably high for pre-primary. Is it worth ?
3. Some reviews in PT suggests that the DPS quality has deteriorated overtime and has become more of an business entity.
On the contrary, I also saw some good reviews about the school.
These are the main reasons, I am in two state of mind.

Abhishikta123 2013-12-05 20:28:44

Thanks shona2010..... did u cosider chirec?

shona2010 2013-12-05 20:48:53

Though we registered but did not go for orientation in Chirec for its exorbitant fees.
Saw in PT forum that their one time fee is 1.5 L + 50 K. Is that correct ?

Are you considering it over DPS ?

BePositive 2013-12-06 06:08:24

Hi,

I heard that chirec's primary classes are pathetic. All the good teachers are moving towards cambridge. Its all based on your luck on which teacher you get. They claim that they dont start with writing in PPI. But they do start. The brighter kids are given more exposure than the others. This is my experience as I have worked there for sometime..

krishnalatha 2013-12-06 10:29:11

Hi Bepositive,

Did ur admission for Chirec got confirmed???
