 Dear All,

I have a son who was born with Down Syndrome. He is 5 years old now. I am looking out for inclusive schools in Hyderabad that would take in kids like him. His learning abilities are very good and therefore I did not want to put him in a special school. If someone has any information on inclusive schools in Hyderabad, please help out. I stay in Ramanthapur area, which is near Uppal.

Thanks in advance

I am also into the same situation.

Yes Anjoo, he is doing good.
I have enrolled him in Euro kids, Habsiguda. And he has finished his LKG and UKG there. He is 7 years old now. I am now looking out for inclusive schools in Hyderabad that may take him in for class 1. I heard that a few international schools have special educators and take in children with downs, autism, etc. Will keep posted on any developments.
Do let me know incase you come across any schools that give admission to children with DS.

Thanks NMK for the reply- Good to hear he is doing good.

I did go to few of the named international schools but did not find luck for LKG (though they had special educators) and hence we are pursuing his LKG and UKG in Sun Shine schools. Sun Shine school is good and they know his in and out - he was going there even before playschool. He just got promoted to LKG. Overall all doing good - speech part is litte delayed.

Will keep you posted if I come across any school who takes the admission and/or any other developments.

Thanks,

Yes Anjoo, even I tried a few international schools but faced disappointment. There are a couple of International schools that take in such special children but they are very expensive - International school of Hyderabad and Mosiaca International school. I am told that the fee is anywhere between 3.00 - 4.00 Lacs.
I am of the view that these children will develop faster if they are put in normal schools rather than special schools. I have not given up and will try till I find one inclusive school for my son for class 1.
Do keep in touch for any updates.

Yes- that is also my understanding. As far as possible - it is best to keep them in inclusive schools. I am referring to Dr. Farhan Sheikh and Dr. Lokesh Lingappa and they too have same recommendation. The kids with DS can be accomodated in normal school and advised not to look for branded one.

I tried few of the school like

1. Manthan - Directly said No
2. Silver Oaks - Did not respond
3. Ganges Valley School - Their response was positive- by the time I got their call, already made up mind to continue in current pre-school.
4. Meridian- Was insisting to enroll one class down. My wife was not in favor and per current school advice- he is doing good and do not require to downgrade.

I met mother of DS kid (kid was 20+ age and moderately impacted) in Rainbow. She mentioned 'Niraj Internation School' and 'Geetanjali' which provide inclusive schooling. But have not visited personally.

Thanks- will keep you posted of any new devlopment.

checked wth niraj international school... they are positive about admitting my 5 yr old who had delayed milestones and is undergoing speech therapy (he is not DS). they are an inclusive school for sure and im very glad i found something like this in hyd...

they are expensive, no doubt..  but i hope we, as parents, can rest assured with regards to kids who need that extra bit of support in order to be on par with their counterparts...

one key takeway for kids with special needs... ICSE and CBSE put in a lot of pressure on the young minds, added to that, peer pressure will be on the rise as they grow up... IB is the way to go for such children, where overall development across all facets of life is considered important for the child's healthy growth, and not alone academic excellence,.

What is the fee at Niraj International School? Can you also let me know as to what would be the class strength?
Thanks

and i must thank anjoo in this forum.. god bless you so much.. and that lady of the 20-yr DS kid who mentioned it to you first.
it makes me believe that what we give comes back to us... and im sure we must have done something good, that showed us a path for our child today... bangalore has a lot of inclusive schools but hyderabad still lags so much in terms of such an advancement... probably not  too many to boast of... and of those available, i find niraj very apt for my little one... god bless!

hello everyone,
my son is 8 years and 7months old ADHD kid. becoz of the behaviour issues i had to pull him out of regular school when he was in ukg and put him in a special school. its been 3 years he is associated with sparsh special school, kothapet, dilsukhnagar.
I truly feel had he been in a normal school with special educators his problem would have been faded away. As i stay in chaitanyapuri, dilsukhnagar the distance matters for me to go for an inclusive school which is far away. he undergoes occupational therapy everyday in school.  he is a trainable child. i request if there are any inclusive schools around 5 km radius to dilsukhnagar, please let me know. Thanks in advance

there is an organisation called disha who has collected information about all major schools in hyderabad and weather they are inclusive or not. they have made this resource avaialble to parents free of cost. i would recommend contacting them and asking if they can send you a copy of the data - NS

Supportive Learning Center in Miyapur is very good.
I am going to the center since 3 months
And am finding lot of improvement in him. Madhuri who is running the center is very helpful. All the therapist working in the center are very nice.
