Hello everyone,

Parents whose kid got admission in chinmaya vidyalaya, begumpet can discuss over here.So that it will be convenient to all of us.

First of all Congratulations!!!!!!!!

and about the school....I'm posting the info' and feedback that was given by mickey(which is excellent).

Chinmaya Vidyalaya Begumpet follows CBSE curriculum and is very good right from first std The school has a good campus with a big play ground and a nice Shiva temple(Dhyaana Nilayam) too.The results are 100% in Tenth Std. They  have introduced 11th and 12th too for the past 2-3 yrs.Their academic record is excellent. l have seen children getting marks  in 90's in subjects like English,Social studies, Maths,Science and Sanskrit in 10th board exams. A few have scored full marks too in maths ,social studies and other subjects. You have to check for class 12 results. I have heard even that is good too.I read about one Chinmaya student's  review in Deccan Chronicle who got full marks in Maths in class 12 two yrs back. Six students from class XII last year from Science stream have got into IITs.

The school exemplifies Holistic education (value based and cultutal oriented). Chinmaya Vidyalaya teaches one sloka from Bhagwad Geeta daily and other slokas and have meditation. They teach good moral values  which is very much required these days and conduct Balvihar classes right from LKG to class 10 where they tell inspiring stories, teach slokas /poems, boost the morale of children etc.

They give equal importance to extra -curricular activities. It is a must for all children to participate in CCA .In academics too ,children are taught to read the whole lesson and assimilate . In exams too ,questions are rarely from their notes or   textbook questions. As they study and learn the whole lesson ,it is easier for them to answer on their own which in turn improves their creativity.

In short if you want your child to have a good spiritual development apart from good mental and physical development ,you may opt for this school. Its purely a personal choice. The school  has also won the Chinmaya Vision Award two yrs back and was rated top CBSE school in Hyderabad in  Indian Express Survey. Fees is quite economica.

Thanks & Regards.

Hi Ramskris,

Thanks for detailed information on Chinmaya. Though my kid didn't get selected in the first list of admissions, I'm hopeful he will get shortlisted in the second list.

Can you please advise if they use latest technology like computers & interactive systems for teaching? Also, what kind of extra curricular activities do they have apart from sports? Like music (vocal & instrumental), dance, etc.

Regards

Deepti

I am also one of the chinmaya fans who was not lucky in the first round and am not pinning much hope on the 2nd list. Being a chinmaya alumnus from chennai, i was pleasantly surprised to see that chinmaya hyd is among the top 5 schools in hyd. It does not enjoy that high a popularity in chennai probably due to more intense competition in chennai.

Now coming to chinmaya hyd - there can be no doubt about value-based education. i am sure everyone is thoroughly convinced about that. The school has proven its mettle in acads too like ramkris mentioned above.

is the 2nd list basically to fill the drop-outs from the 1st list?
another thing that really surprises me is that chinmaya hyd does not have a website. In the age of tablets & androids, why would a school not have a website? All the more surprised because chinmaya chennai has one.

Hi Veej,

I agree with you and thats exactly my worry is... all the school these days have a website and most of the schools use computers for teaching. But Chinmaya still follows the traditional way of teaching.

@Ram: were you able to check re computers at Chinmaya.

Deepti

 Hi Dipsroy n Veej,

Chinmaya Vidyalaya , Hyd does have a website. It was there when my daughter was studying. For sometime,  we were not able to login as its renewal was due. The school is making some changes to its website. You could have a look  http://www.chinmayahyderabad.org

Mickey

My daughter has admission in DPS Mahendra Hills,St.Andrews -Maredpally and Chinmaya.I was too keen with chinmaya, but now I seem to get some mixed reviews.I am certainly looking for value based education when compared to these corporate schools like DPS and mid schools like St,Andrews.

Infact when her name was not in the 1st two lists I was disappointed. Now I am in a fix where to join her.We stay in Padmaraonagar so I tried for schools only in around Secunderabad. Please help me to decide so that I dont repent later.

Thanks ,

Kinnera

Hi Kinnera , Triple Congrats !!!

Prefer DPS , Mahendra Hills or Chinmaya. In St Andrews, the class strength is more. If there are two teachers per section, u can still go ahead.

The talk of 16 teachers leaving is just a rumour. Yes, a few teachers have left but it's not 16.... I had spoken to couple of teachers whom i know very well to clarify such rumours.

The new Principal, Mrs. Varalaxmi has taken over in June'11 and a few old teachers have left too, so such talks are doing the rounds.

I am sure these are the teething problems and the school will regain its past glory very soon under the new Principal as she has a very good record.
I have received good feedback from pre-primary parents as such.
If you have any problems with teaching or staff, you could address your problems to the Headmistress and things are taken care of.

All are good schools. If u prefer spiritual orientation n value based education which also includes Balvihar classes n Bhagwad Geetha chanting, prefer Chinmaya else DPS or St Andrews.

I personally would choose Chinmaya without caring for any rumours  n talks. I definitely don't want to give biased review or influence anybody with my views. I have been in touch with a few parents whose kids are in Pre-primary and they have been quite happy as of now.

If  your priority is good infrastructure n amenities which includes transport , prefer DPS.
If you want a budget friendly school,  prefer Chinmaya.

Pl go ahead with the school which u liked n which is near to your place without having to regret later.

All the Best !
Mickey

Hi Mickey,

Thanks a lot for the help.I have almost zeroed down on Chinmaya only.As you mentioned irrespective of rumours I would want to go ahead with the same.

I am really not looking at the budget as I was ok with the school fees of DPS and like wise schools. Also I was concerned at St.Andrews strength. They have around 40 even for preprimary and over 10 sections just for LKG.

I want my child to go ahead with value based and spiritual orientation as my daughter is highly religious and has lot of interest in this area. Thanks to my inlaws for this contribution.

I have also spoken to some preprimary parents and they were happy about the school.

She secured admission in Amrita Vidyalayam in Mahendra Hills some how I am more appealed with Chinmaya only .Transport I am looking @ hiring a driver until she is in 1st class or shift to Kundanbagh area.Lets see how things transpire.

It is wonderful to see a person with such rigour helping people on one of the most important factor in their lives.-Kudos to you Mickey.Would like to be in touch with you .

Regards,

Kinnera

 Hi Mickey,

Thanks very much for a detailed review. My son got an admission in Class-VI from this year (2012-13). We live in Mettuguda and I am concerned about transportation. Are there are other kids in this area travelling to Chinmaya, Begumpet? What are the safe options?

Thank you & Regards

Sudha

mickey 2012-05-06 15:18:44

 Congratulations Sudha !
I have no idea about the kids travelling from Mettuguda. You could get in touch with private school autos or vans. You will find them in the morning and afternoon hours when the school commences. They will be able to tell you. A private school van would be better i guess.

Regards,
mickey

 Hi Sudha,

Congrats to you and your son for securing an admission in class VI in Chinmaya

How do you feel the school is?

Are you and your kid happy?

Importantly, please help me around how to get admission for higher classes.

I am seeking an admission for my kid in class III and not sure how/what is the procedure

Do they need any recommendation or seek donations or is just on merit basis?

Please share your experience in getting a seat in chinmaya for your son?

Thanks,

Fenila
