Hi all

My son who is now in 8th grade ( studied last 5 years in USA only) will be returning to Hyderabad by May 2012 permanently. He does not know Telugu / Hindi languages ( Can not write / Read). We are in Dilemma about ICSE or CBSE syllabus for him. He will start in 9th grade there and State syllabus is out of question due to languages.  Can anybody suggests which syllabus would be easy for him to adopt with least possible efforts....We want to escape Telugu & Hindi languages which may be impossible :-(

Appreciate some body who can guide us in this situation...Thanks in advance.

Hi Sairam,

There are international schools which follow IGCSE syllabus in Hyderabad .Some schools take online admission also .Please check with the schools. I understood from the discussions in the parentree that ICSE syllabus is definately harder than CBSE .Regarding languages most of the CBSE school offer French as a second language for X class (it starts from Vth class)  apart from Hindi/Telugu.

Please share your experience in the parentree after relocation & how your kid adjusted to the school, how did he find the transit from US to India regarding studies ,which school did you take admission etc.,

Hi Shanti

Thanks for quick information.  We have nearly finalized on CBSE syllabus school as my son can have first language as Englsh & second language either French / Sanskirt / special english.  If I am correct, there should be some good CBSE schools in & around Nallakunta / Amberpet / Vidyanagar area....Appreciate your help to know some good CBSE schools which are having classes upto +12.

Also I heard that CBSE has made 10th Board exam as OPTIONAL and if this is correct, my son can have 4 years to appear for +12 Board exam. So that he gets more time to adjust to CBSE education...

Appreciate any other valuable inputs on this matter..Thanks in advance.

Hi Sairam,

Yes  CBSE has made 10th board exams as optional. Regarding second language there is no special english but they can have  French /Sanskrit /Hindi/Telugu  as second languages.I found in the parentree site that only few schools offer Sanskrit as second language. Even if you join your kid in any  international school they have  to know one language  to appear for GCSE exams . For GCSE syllabus French/Spainsh any language starts from year 7 (class 7) . You  can join your son in any French beginners course 1/2 monthscrash course) in US  or if you didnot find any French courses visit  for basic online course .

Hello ,

We are returning to Hyd  from Boston next month with two kids one in 11 th and one in 8th. It is an unexpected and unfortunate move. My 8th grader doesnt know telugu or hindi. He is taking spanish this year as a 7th grader. Friends, can any of you please suggest good schools for them. Is there any school that is offering Spanish ? Is telugu a compulsory subject? We are already in hardship and search of school is overwhelming for me right now? I would be grateful for your inputs?

Hi Anu,
We relocated to Hyderabad last year and did an extensive research on schools with IGCSE and ib boards. My kids joined Sancta Maria International school and it is a very good school. Teachers are very approachable and lots of sports activities are also there.
Overall I m very happy with the school.

If you are looking for a small school (7-8 kids per class) I would highly recommend Keystone International, we chose it due to it's low student teacher ratio and Project Based can PM me with any specific questions. They follow Camridge / IGCSE. My kids are in 3rd and 2nd and we moved from USA this year.

My son completed his 9th grade in UK(studied LKG to 5th in USA Boston/New Jersy, 6th to 9th in London) and was planning to move back to USA in this month, due to some unforeseen/unexpected circumstance, we are forced to move back to India today and looking for a school.
