Congrats to all the parents and kids who made it to DPS / Chirec (and all other schools )

We could not make it through DPS ..Though we were very hopeful  .

We saw   a "star"  marked on my daughters hand after her 1-1 session with teachers ..Though we were not sure what it actually meant . She did perform well is what i think

However the session with the principal was ok ok ..she was not able to catchup with the english ..but ansswered all the questions with a little help and recited rhymes really well.. Not sure the reason for not getting through.

Quick question to succesfull parents ..were your kids able to grasp questions asked by principal with no help ..ie is the kid expected to understand fluent english by nursery :)

Hi Tikly

Thank you for providing your analysis on Phoenix & Euro school.

I assume you are talking about the Euro School Gachibowli branch. Would you be having the phone numbers & fee details for Euro School?

Ashrita,

We had a very similar experience. My kid got a star on her hand but got rejected. So I am wondering did kids who got selected got a double star on their hand.

Cheers,

Vijay

Ashrita,

We too had the same experience...My daughter also got a star on her hand but got rejected....So now i doubt that the selection is really based on the interaction or something else...

Hi Vijay,

I called JHPS yesterday and after 2-3 visits and numerous calls to the school, they finally confirmed that there will be no second list and all seats are booked...

Did your daughter got admission in DPS? No success for my son... will have to wait till next year & try again in other schools.

Regards

Deepti

Hi Deepika,

Please chk this thread for review on PG ..

Yes ... Looks like DPS has lost its credibility on the selection process based on interaction ... Even a couple of my frends faced this ... One of the kids even got 2 starts ... and still not selected ... Wonder how many stars the selected kids got ... :) ... They should have probably been clear with their stars ... :)

Hi All,

I do not know what did that star mean when the child came out of the room, as our daughter had one as well. She also told us what was asked to her and how she had answered the questions.

The interaction with the Principal in the room was in English and she had answered all her questions and there were a couple of witty answers by her as well :)

Hi Ritu,

How old is ur duaghter is? My son is 3 years no I am asking if there is a possiblity of next year

ritusaurabh 2012-02-09 17:48:23

Hi Deepika,

I am sure you can try next year as well. Even this year there were admissions to UKG and even 1st class. The results are in the same sheet which had our ward's result. Not only this, I would suggest you go and meet the school administration and try persistently, just in case there is a drop out and your son can be considered for it.

When we were there for enrollment, there was someone enquiring for admission to 3rd standard for his daughter. So you should not lose hope in any case.

My daughter would be 4 on April 29th.

Hi Deepika,

I am looking for admission into Class 1 for my son ... the problem is from class 1 u will have to take a written test ... anyway ... you can still try for DPS next yr if you r interested ... else u can try out other ones like PG, Manthan etc..  if you can stretch ur budget a little more ... Sancta Maria wud be nice ...

I am also planning to chk out Hillside Academy in JubileeHills... heard gud reviews abt it... U can try tht as well ... They follow the IB and CBSE ... IB is till class 5 ...

Hello Friends,

At DPS, my son did good and after the first interaction he had a star on his hand too. He told me about the fruits and vegetables that he identified and in the principal's room, he interacted very well and answered all questions that were asked.

I think the selection would have been tough for the school too as all the kids that I met there were very confident and smart. Apart from that I guess the kids age, distance from school are some of the factors that are also considered.

Regards.

Hey folks,

My elder daughter has written test for Niraj Public School and Kalpa School.  Both schools gave acceptance to take the kid.

I am not happy with Niraj as mentioned before in this thread.

I personally would like to join her in Chinmaya or HPS.  But they won't confirm till April 1st week.

What is the demand of Kalpa and Niraj Schools?  If they are in high demand, most probably the seats won't remain till then.  If so, I want to have a backup plan.

Can you folks please shed some light here?

Thanks,

Laxmi

My daughter is also 3yrs old(27th jan 2009)......though she got a star...i feel she is too young to get through.... we'll  try next year..may be they are considering the age also...

Raj007 2012-02-10 11:04:53

Laxmi,

May i know for which class you want join your daughter in Niraj? Niraj is very good school. My son studying in UKG. But its ICSE syllybus that is only the concern. Fees is also very effordable comparing to other schools?

Thanks

Raj

ritusaurabh 2012-02-10 13:11:55

Raj,

I do not know what is the concern with ICSE? I always felt this was a better curriculum than CBSE. ICSE believes in practical education and the exams in higher class are more on application than simple theory.

If you ask simple applications of Physics/ Chemistry laws to an ICSE person he will be better off than the CBSE counterpart owing to curriculum difference.

I will say if you are satisfied with the school in which your son goes currently, you should not bother much.

VijayV 2012-02-10 13:12:42

Deepti,

Even we couldn't make it in DPS. JHPS I had visted again today and they asked me to check again in a aweek or so. I know it's contradicting to what was told to you.

I wanted to try at Manthan but saw on this thread that even they have closed admissions.

So net-net I am still on the look-out and hoping that my hunt ends sooner than later. :)

Cheers,

Vijay

Priyaraj2005 2012-02-10 15:10:25

Hi Deepthi,

We did visit Hillside academy today ... It was initially Roots Montessori which was taken over by Manipal Group ... I cannot  say it has a sophisticated look like the international schools ... but it was OK ... the playground was small though ... They had just  enough space for a cricket Net practise, basketball and a couple of tennis courts with a little more space probably for vehicleparking .... and the primary school playground was separate with their swings and other things ... They had a swimming pool too which she said would be operational this year ...

It is kind of located on a hill top ...and they did have fencing around ... the school building was fine ... I liked the classrooms and the arrangement too ... Only 25 students per class in the CBSE and 20 per class in the IB curriculam ... They have IB till class 5 ... the benches were arranged in a semi-circle  ( semi-square actually :) ) ... So each one can see every one ...  All rooms right from the primary section have Digital boards and other equiment ... which they are actually making use of ... We actually had a look around the school .. so some classes were in progress and others were having activites ... a small Dining hall but i guess that shoud be enough since the strngth is only 300 ... and primary / Secondary have separate lunch timins ....

Fee structure : Admission fee : 30000

Tuition fee - 47000 ( CBSE ) & 71000 ( IB )

Mess - 16500 ( Brkfast & Lunch ) - I think u can opt for just brkfst or just lunch or both ...

Transport - Maximum belt is about 20000 ( > 10 Kms) ...else it is around 15000K for 5 to 10 Kms ...

Books and Uniform charged separately ... books are charged per the year around 2K for Class 1 ...

So ... we took the admission form for 500 ... Good thing is that they dont belived in any formal interaction or interview with child till 4th class ... But if the child resides in the city and you can take them ... they are happy to meet ...else no issues ... u can still go ahead ,,, She said there are about 4 to 5 vacancies for Class 1 ... So we need to confirm the seat within a weeks time if we decided on the school ...

Regards,

Priya

Hi Priya,

Thanks for the detailed information. Infact, I was so eager to see the school that I visited the school myself

To be honest we liked the school. Though it doesn't have a very huge playground but a decent one for kids to participate in sports. School has been very well built. Best part is that student ratio is very less i.e. 20 in PPI & PP2 with only 1 section each for both classes. Total strength of the school is 300+ students and around 35 teachers. The administrators at the front-office knew almost every child by their name which gives me assurance that my child will get personal attention and will not get lost in the big crowd like in other schools where we have been trying all this while. Pre-primary area has a separate dining room with ayaas & teachers helping kids to finish their meals. All the classrooms are equipped with digital boards and very well ventilated.

They are not taking any admission fee for PP1 & PP2 but will charge 30k if we decide to continue our child in Grade 1. So the rest of the fee structure remains the same as mentioned by you. From Grade 1 classes get divided as the per the curriculum i.e. IB or CBSE which can be changed later as well.

In addition to this, I have also got the mobile number of parents whose children are studying in this school to just get some kind of feedback. I will post more details after I speak to them. As of now we are very positive on this school.

Regards

Deepti

Hi Vijay,

Really do not have any hope from JHPS or BVB, especially with nothing in hand now.

You can definitely have a look at Hillside Academy at Rd 46,Opp to Dr BR Ambedkar Open University.

Deepti
