i come from a pharma background.  i was working full time before marriage
then i had to quit.  medical transcription requires some background of anatomy, physiology, medicine names decent English grammar and good typing skills.  my work is basically is to listen to audio files sent to me from a particular doctor's clinic about his patients records, the diagnosis, treatment provided etc.  these are either UK docs or US docs, so familiarity with UK/US accent is plus.  i did a online course for it and got a placement via them.
