Dear Aanchal,
Yesterday my little one wanted to bake a cake and I found the recipe given by u too simple to try else it becomes quite messy affair when we bake a regular cake...
However, I made a few variations as i didn't have hide n seek biscuits and Eno.
I substitued Good Day Biscuits and used 4 small pieces of Cadbury's Dairy milk, some dry fruits and used 1/2 tsp of baking powder instead of Eno and baked it in OTG instead of microwave.
It really came out very well and my 4.3 yr old daughter called two of her friends for a cake party in the afternoon and Lo ! the cake was consumed within 5 minutes !!!!!!
A recipe with a twist....................................
Parle G biscuits- 6-7
Good Day biscuits- 4-5
Milk- 1 cup
Sugar- 2 tsp
Baking powder 1/2 tsp
Small piece of dairy milk (grated)
Dry fruits
Butter- enough to grease the bowl
Baked in OTG ..........coz i have the basic model Microwave
I am sharing few of the compressed pics from my kitchen ...........
She was crushing the biscuits.........
..........wanted to make it more fine by putting it in a mixer/grinder...
.
Grated half of cadbury dairy milk in the batter and guess where was the other half.............. yes, it was in her tummy..........
within 7 -8 minutes, the BISCUIT CAKE was ready in OTG....
She enjoyed serving her two friends ..............
Had a wonderful time baking the Biscuit Cake !!!!!!!!!!
Cheers !
Mickey
planning 2 do it this evening hehehe..................
hey I do make vanilla cake also......will try 2 share the recipeee if time permits.............
hi,
made the cake yest my lil darling liked it...she is fond of cakes.......made with hide n seek biscuits and it tastes very similar 2 a brownie..........added soda as I didnt hv eno......it did'nt turn out very fluffy though but soft n yummy........
try in the cooker........my MIL has done many times in cooker.............I did the above cake in microwave 1st....since I tried small qty n I think I overdid it....it became a cookie....hehehe.......but the big portion I did in oven as I did'nt want to take any more chances......I made more qty so v can consume for 2-3 dys n we also hv big fly.
Hi guys,
Such an interesting post. I dont have microwave. Can I use cooker, if so could you eloborate the process. My son loves cakes( all kids do:) and need to give him a surprise.
Hi Mickey,
Nice post. what is temparature you have set the OTG to bake the biscuit cake.
wanna try this for my little kid.
hey, how old is your daughter? looks pretty. :)
Hi BrillAdith,
You need to put it in heavy bottom cooker without putting the weight. Don't pour water and keep it in sim for 10 to 15 min. I think it should bake. I have never tried but heard from my friends who usually bake this way.
You could also use sand in the cooker to bake it.
Do let us know after you bake in cooker .....
Happy Baking........
Cheers!
mickey
Hi Mickey,
I tried in oven but it didn't become fluffy . Actually I experimented by adding in a bakery biscuit (just aise hi ;) ) which had some coconut in it.
After cooking for 7 min in Microwave, it didn't become fluffy as it should be and was really hard from corners.
Any ideas
hi jyoti,
i think u must have put it in oven thats the reason now try out it in microwave as told by aanchal.... if u want to put it in oven put at 180 degree. for say 4 to five minutes not more then that other wise ur cake will turn into a big cookie....... try it it really turns out yummy... cake .....u can also crushed milk chocolate for white colour in cake or dairy milk chocolate also.
Hi Jyoti, I think you need to set the temp in microwave too. This time reduce a bit and bake. I don't think it is bcoz of coconut cookies...
yes jyoti its cause of overcooking....hehehe I tried a small portion in m/wave n it became cookie then I did the big portion in oven.
Mickey,
thanks for your reply.
one more question.
from where can i get the backery/baking stuff like baking pans/brown paper/ baking moulds etc in hyderabad/secunderabad area.
i tried in big bazar/spencers and in few more shpos . but did not see these baking stuff.
thanks in advance
Hi Cherri,
There is a very famous wholesale shop in General Bazaar ( Secunderabad) called Chawla's where u get all the things related to baking including fresh butter meant for cakes. You need to walk inside a bit. It is opposite Bommana Brothers, General Bazaar.
You get all kinds of choclates including dark choclate bars required for cakes n icecreams...... 040- 27812061
Happy Baking !
