Hi, I am planning to move from Boston to CBE - 2 kids - 8th and 4th grade in 2022 academic year. I am hoping to join CS academy.

I am trying to decide between the Cambridge syllabus and CBSE. Anyone who has moved with kids in higher grades - please share your experience.

I would also like to know if there are tutors who teach kids online - language/Math etc. even before I come to CBE so that the academic transition is not too bad for them.

Hi Jummu, We returned from California couple of years back and had kids in a CBSE school. Then we moved kids to CS Academy IGCSE stream. They like it and are very happy. Kids are now in 6 and 4th. Regards Basu

If you are looking at ICSE or Cambridge you can also look at Lil & RaK€™s Pallikkoodam

Hi Basu, Glad to hear your story. If I opt for IGCSE for 8th grade, can I move to CBSE later within CS academy? Do you know of anyone who made the move at a higher grade to CS academy? I would love to connect. Thanks.

Hi jummu, When I attended orientation I got the impression that students can switch to cbse later. Please talk to the school to confirm. Basu

Jummu - my kids are in the international school at CS Academy and I share Basu's experience too. After grade VIII we have the option to move streams - CBSE or Cambridge, no issue, existing kids are always accommodated. This is one of the reasons I really like CS. I was not sure what my kids would do, the school gives excellent counseling from grade VIII on and we can decide if CBSE or Cambridge could suit our kids better. Example - if your kid wants to do medicine in india, you should shift to CBSE in grade XI as the NEET is based on CBSE only. Once you are in the school, they are flexible from my experience. Btw, about ICSE, personally I feel it is a past due date syllabus - if Indian syllabus, take CBSE - it has the max number of schools, most research done, more progressive and all entrance exams in india are based on it.

Thank you lakshmicbe. Can you please share the language requirements? I would like my kids to do CBSE, but maybe start with Cambridge for the first year (esp for the 8th grader). I would like to connect with you to know more, if you are ok with it.

sure! language req in international is flexible - my one kid takes French II lang and other takes tamil. you can do hindi too. Regarding move back and forth, I suggest you take these decisions in discussion with the school. I have got good guidance on careers, subject choices etc. from CS counseling team. 9 and 10 are very important if you need to send kids abroad. They have these social programmes, activities etc covered so big relief for people like me.
