Hello all,
I am new to this group. I live in UK now and planning to come back to Coimbatore for good, in March/April 2018. I have 2 kids aged 8 and 4 and looking for good schools. Before deciding the school, I was initially confused on which syllabus to choose (CBSE and IB). I am kind of leaning towards IB as the quality of education is good in IB than CBSE. I think the only option for IB in Coimbatore is TIPS? Is this right? What is the quality of education in this school?
Or are there any other schools recommended (either IB or CBSE)?
Much appreciate your help. Thanks.

hello - my kid goes to CS Academy in Kovaipudur and is in the cambridge syllabus. It is a "serious" school - outcome focussed, competitive philosophy and challenging. my kid loves it and there are many expat kids who have moved here. don't know about TIPS.

Fantastic. Thanks Arjmom.

As per their website they provide IGCSE only in VI, VII and VIII. Is that right? I did not see any information on Cambridge syllabus in their website. Does Cambridge syllabus is the same as IGCSE?

When you mean outcome focussed, is it more into memorising the concepts? or does it involve practical application of the concepts?

Sorry for that direct question. I would like to get as much information as possible. But otherwise, I have read very good reviews about CS Academy.

Thanks again for your help Arjmom.

Yes they have cambridge from grade VI only until then all kids are in cbse. The cbse program was very good - I meant outcome from my kids perspective - gaining confidence, speaking boldly, participating in many events and competitions etc etc not just learning concepts. mugging - is impossible here anyways as all the test questions seem very thinking oriented. cambridge is also good here with some very good faculty and highly application oriented too.  i think people use cambridge, igcse interchangeably :-)

Great. Thanks Arjmom for a detailed response. I am looking to shortlist 5 schools and then to visit all 5 schools in August and then decide. Would you be able to rate or suggest 5 good schools in Coimbatore?

hello - Suguna Pips (academic focus, no international, cbse), Vidhya Niketan (CBSE traditional school, good location inside city), maybe chinmaya international (spiritual focus, residential) you can consider. international - can't recco anything other than CS academy from my point of view :-). june will be very difficult in any of these schools i think. you have to apply now if you want for coming year. you visit the schools and check them - meet the faculty. good luck.

Hi Arjmon,
I just want to know, if Cs Academy gives more homeworks for grade 1, as they do in some CBSE schools?. Have they started IGCSE syllabus for grade 1? How about individual attention and treatment for everyone? Would appreciate your input since Iam planning to enroll my son for pre kg.

Hello my kid goes to CS. I can answer homework load is correct and always balance is there. Some reading some writing. Well monitored. More importantly we can meet the decision makers to get Issues sorted if need be. I think that is very important as no school can be 100 percent perfect all the time!!!

Hi,

We are new to Coimbatore and staying at Saravanampatti. We are looking for preschool admission for our son. We went to the following schools and made an enquiry. Fee in International schools for CBSE curriculum is high compared to the non international ones. If you already know about the academics in these schools, could you please suggest how good are they?

We went to Suguna PIPS (Gandhipuram) and registered for pre-kg. But we were told that the chances are less as we are late. They asked to register and go. They told us if they are calling us, they will do that before Jan 15.

Visited Camford International School. They showed the pre-kg classrooms. One time non refundable fee is Rs 60000. Fee for pre kg is Rs 75000 which includes term fee, academic materials and uniform. They asked us to buy an application form for Rs 500 and apply.

Visited Ksirs International School. No CBSE. Only ICSE or IGCSE. Asked us to buy an application form for Rs 500 and apply. Didn't show us the pre kg classrooms. They told, once we apply, they will call few of the applicants and explain everything. One time non refundable fee is Rs 65000. Fee for pre kg is Rs 60000. This includes only term fee. Uniform and Academic Materials are extra.

Visited Manchester International School. They showed us the classrooms. Application form is Rs 2000. One time non refundable fee is Rs 57000. Fee for pre kg is Rs 77500 which includes term fee, Academic Materials, uniform.

Visited NGP school. They showed us the classrooms. We made a pre registration. Asked us to bring the kid for admission. They told us they will explain everything during that time. Enquired with a parent and came to know that fee will be less than Rs 55000. Also one time non registration fee increases with demand. They paid Rs 60000 because they came for admission in March. Meanwhile the parents who completed the admission by December or January paid Rs 30000 to 40000. Told us that the school is good with play way method of teaching.

Visited Chandrakanthi Public School (CBSE). Couldn't see the classrooms. Made a pre registration and came back. Enquired with a parent. They paid Rs 40000 as one time non refundable fee 2 years back. Fee is coming around Rs 54000. Academic Materials and uniforms are not included in it. Told us that academic wise it's ok.

Any other schools which we've missed out? Please share your feedback.

Hi, Did you check 'The Indian Public School'. They seem to be a good International school. They are in the outskirts of Saravanampatti.

Hi All, I'm planning to relocate to cbe from London during May 2018, I visited cbe a couple of times in 2017 and visited GeeDee public school, Yellow train, Anan academy and TIPS for my 6 yr old. Tips and Anan academy seems to have good infrastructure, I was a bit confused but have mostly decided on TIPS due to it's infra, good facebook reviews and IB syllabus... Any feedback on your experiences with TIPS and Anan academy will be greatly appreciated...

Selvakumar0309 2018-01-04 15:32:10

Hi Rakesh, I am relocating to Coimbatore from London in May as well. I did like TIPS and have applied there and got admission. Infrastructure seems good and the syllabus will suit my kids for transition from UK state schools. I do not have any idea about Anan though. May be we can talk and help each other as we are in same boat?

Hello! Regarding International schools, my daughter goes to CS Academy and many of my friends kids too. The Cambridge programme is really good I feel - excellent teachers and management. It is a solid school with lots of substance. A few seniors who graduated this year have got into good unis abroad including NUS and there are many kids who have moved from abroad.
