Maharishi Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School (Junior College) Chennai, is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. It was started on 23rd June, 1983 with the school motto "Knowledge is structured in Consciousness".

It is a co-educational English medium School, following the same syllabi and curricula as in the Central Schools i.e., the school follows the re-organised pattern of education of 10+2 years of the CBSE, Delhi, for the present classes from Kindergarten to Standard XII.

The school is situated at "Maharishi Gardens" No.28, Dr. Guruswamy Road, Chetpet, Chennai-600 031. The campus includes a calm and serene garden and spacious buildings. The school environment is that of a Gurukul, but methodology of education is imparted on the modern 'Public School Pattern' of Education based on Indian Culture. There is a happy synthesis between the Gurukul ideology and modern Public School Education.

The school enjoys the student strength of 3,600 and staff strength of 153. The increase in student strength, infrastructure, implementation of new strategies in learning processes and extra curricular activities remain evidences to the qualitative growth in the broader aspect of curriculum.

Maharishi Vidya Mandir Higher Secondary School, Chennai, is recognized by the Government of Tamilnadu. It was started on 25th June,2000 with the student strength of 114 in Std XI. It is a co-educational English Medium school following the same syllabi and curricula as in the State Board of Higher Secondary School, Tamilnadu. Within a short span of 5 years, the student strength has increased to 520 in Std XI & XII.

The strong and committed management team, qualitative and competent teachers, disciplined and hard work of the students and the cooperation of the parents speak of our students' excellent results in the Plus Two Higher Secondary Examinations every year.

Mayuri 2009-09-16 19:24:15

Thank you. I would further like to know which of these is best for a child's overall development and future.

Secondly, which is perferable - CBSE or Sate Board - broad minded and free thnking.

Thirdly, I would like to know about the latest announcement that the Govt of Tamil nadu has made " SAMA CHEER KALVI" . Will that include CBSE Schools also. Kindly explain.

umabala 2009-09-17 15:09:36

Hi Mayuri,

What is this Samacheer Kalvi all about? I never heard anything about this. Is ithis something related to the colloboration of Matriculation, State and Corpoation board? I guess it is time to update myself :)

shah 2009-09-17 15:39:15

"Samacheer Kalvi" or Equitable Syllabus is coming up with a common syllabus for State Board, Matriculation, Anglo Indian and Oriental schools across Tamilnadu. The TN govt doesn't want 4 different board exams happening in the state and wants everything to come under one umbrella. CBSE and ICSE, the other two major streams won't be covered under Equitable Syllabus as they don't come under the Tamilnadu Government.

Mayuri 2009-09-17 18:26:32

Thank you.

I would further like to know which of these is the best for a child's overall development and future.

Secondly, which is perferable - CBSE or Sate Board - to make the child more independent, self-motivated, broad minded and free thinking.

umabala 2009-09-17 19:40:09

Thanks Shah!! My assumption was right :)

My vote is to CBSE as they are more oriented towards understanding rather than theoretical knowledge. Moreover with this equitable syllabus coming into place, I am not sure how things will turn out.

Moreover if you plan for a switch after 10th std, then think twice! I have heard that kids find it difficult to face the transition from a practical knowledge oriented environment to a theoretical study. I don't have any personal experience though!

Thanks in advance,

manija 2009-12-31 16:48:35

Most of the schools take the kid for PreKG only.

You can try in SBOA, they are taking kids till Jun born.

manija 2009-12-31 16:49:24

I think it is 60 kids per class

Is lady andal co ed or girls school? pl help.

aswathy83 2010-12-10 12:37:37

for any of you considering putting their kids in Chinmaya LKG..

if you love your kids and want them to be treated with love, affection and care and not as robots or machines, please stay away from Chinmaya. The teachers are rude and frustrated and the management is extremely high handed and apathetic. The attitude of the management has completely turned me off. I prefer my child to be treated with respect for the person that he is.

Vela 2010-12-10 14:47:48

Hi, i need more clarifications, since i want to know the details as i stand in that campus for my kid for LKG

bindusri 2010-12-11 12:33:40

 Hi friends

Can anyone who got application form in Jawahar Vidyalaya tell me ur experience. My hubby was waiting in the queue for 4 hours but unable to get the application. They told the application will be given from 10am -12 pm.  But they started issuing the applicvation only at 10.20 and stopped by 11.10 it seems. There was not a proper response from the staff . Many people went back without getting the form it  seems. They dint even tell how much they issued. I am very much disappointed with this.

Vela 2010-12-13 14:54:57

Hi Bindu,

its very horrible, i heard this from one of my friend, he too fed up like this and finally he shouted and they told we have enough application forms so we stopped like that they replied, also i heard that now a days this school status coming down with respect to all activities. so dont worry for not getting application, you will get school then,,,,,,,

Vela 2010-12-13 14:57:13

Sorry i missed one word,

thier statement

"we have issued enough application forms"

rajisara8 2010-12-13 17:16:34

Hi vela,

You are absolutely right... i was a victim of their rudenedd last year. I stood nearly 3 hours and then we faught and got the application form and then they rejected my daughter bcoz i don't have any address proof of my present address. My husband had all the valid proofs and mine is in my mom's address, since its not in my present address i was rejected and we went and stood nearly full day and met the principal and she said she won't be able to give me admission....]

Pls don't join your child in that school... my daughter is going to LKG now and i'm again searching for schools but i didnt apply in jawahar and i heard they don't give forms for LKG this year.... the management is horrible and the toilets are very bad,unhygenic...

Pls think twice before you leap into something...

Vela 2010-12-13 18:15:37

whatever you said is 100% true and they are looking for the address proof strictly and using that as a primary filter, and then recommendations......

dont worry, you will get good school this year, me too didnt search last year for my kid, this year only i am searching, i'll let you know if i got any info from any school...

rajisara8 2010-12-14 01:11:22

Hi Vela,

Thank u... pls do tell me if you getany school info...

hw's pon vidyashram ? their fees is 41,700/- ....

and the school looks like some engg. college... i dnt kno y ppl hav started using education as a business... everybody is money minded..... gone are those days when ppl used to value education....

tell me if u get any info about any good cbse school...

bindusri 2010-12-14 17:56:45

Hi Vela and raji

Thanks for ur reply for the bad experience which u faced.  Actually i came to know that they unofficially issued the application form on the first day itself.  Where the teachers and the other admin took the forms with them. And the rest has been issued officially. See how they behave bad. Well am not gonna luk at this school anymore.  I heard that Metha school which is near Duraisamy subway is gud.  I couldnt find any details abt that school in parentree. Could you pls give me some feedback abt that school. Hows the teaching and other activities there. When is the form issued and abt the donation.
