My sons bday is 3rd apr 2009.They assessed in San  for prekg admission  and said he ll b ok for pre kg.But still confussed whether he will b able to learn prekg lessons. Also this is his first schoolingPls share.Any comments/experience in this regard.

umabala 2011-03-01 11:22:42

@Akhilsmom - My personal opinion is to enroll him in prekg next year as he might find it difficult to cope up with CBSE syllabus down the lane. However I have seen parents enrolling their kid as early as possible as their concern was not waste a year. Hence you need to take a stand and decide.

Hi,

I second Uma's thought. It is better to join him in Pre-KG next year as he is just going to be 2. You can put in play group now.

This will definitely help in future as they will be able to cope up the syllabus better in higher class

My daughter is Apr 2008 born and she will be in Pre-KG only coming June.

Akhilsmom- me too think the same. Play group would be ideal for him now. Some times, it also depends upon the kid but he will be junior in his class.

I think they may not have the same interest as others because of age difference.

all the best for your decision.

For all Moms of SAN group,

Can we discuss the transport facility part? Are you adopting the school transport or arranging yourself?

If you prefer to arrange your own transport facility, please discuss here and let us know the details so that we can form a group and share together.

Did you enquire about the transportation fees with the school? I will ask my brother to call up the school tomorrow and update here. I can't wait for the meet you are planning in the month of April. we will back by first week of April.

BTW, I stay near kilkattalai.

Thanks

Hi Indu

I have enrolled my son in Jr KG and i stay in madipakkam.I called up the school last week and they told me they will have bus facility to madipakkam. But not yet got any solid info from school.

If you are looking for any private van option please do let me know so that we can plan for the nearby areas.

Abisakthi 2011-03-02 10:02:05

Hi Moms,

I reside in Madipakkam. I enquired about the transport facility in school during admission. I was told that, last year they hire  van through contract . From this academic year (june 2011) they are going to own their van and bus. They told they are going to buy 2 van and a bus. they also told van will bear San academy name with yellow paint. I have admitted  my kid in pre kg. they told parents have to drop and pick up the kids for the first one week. After that, transport facility is available. the fees for the transport depends upon the distance.

Lakshmi2 - where do u stay in madipakkam. I reside in sadasivam nagar.

Lakshmi2 2011-03-02 11:28:46

Hi Abi,

Even i got the same kind of reply from the school.I reside near Madipakkam Koot Road. When i admitted my son they said they will let us know abiout the transport, fees etc by first week of march.

Sridevi 2011-03-02 13:51:32

@akhilsmom. U can put the kid in playgroup as in that he will enjoy and next year he can learn in pre kg.

Sridevi 2011-03-02 13:54:17

@1209, abisakthi, Lakshmi2,

I reside in nanganallur and my kid has been enrolled in Jr.Kg. We enquired abt the transportation part. The school authorities called and told they will drop and pick up frm month and the monthly charges is Rs.2000. This sounded high and very high rather. So if any of u have any other idea and reside in nanganallur, pls let me know.

Lakshmi2 2011-03-02 14:14:39

Oh is it?I did not get any call from the school yet. Rs 2000 is very expensive i guess.

Did u ask them from when on they will start this school van etc? Also the school starts at 8.30 AM.Any idea what time they will pick up from Nanganallur?

umabala 2011-03-02 15:13:02

Folks,

I stay pretty close to the school. Maybe a km or so, but I was told that i will have to pay a monthly charge of Rs. 800 if I opt for school transport facility. The charges depends on some radius covered from the school is what I was told.

@Sridevi - Have you opted for transport facility and is that the reason you got a call from school? I did not hear anything from them after I paid the fee. I was told that we need to bring the kid for uniform measurement in the month of April.

Indhu - I am alslo eager to see the rest of you folks.

Cheers

Uma

vijinarsi 2011-03-02 17:28:48

@sridevi,

Where do you stay at Nanganallur

1209 2011-03-03 04:37:35

 Hi sridevi,lakshmi2,

Sure I am willing to join if you are looking for transportation other than school van.     think Rs.2000 per month is costly.  I heard from my sister who sends her son to 6 km radius from her house, they charge almost Rs.3000 for 3 months.

I think the distance from kilkattalai to SAN Academy is not more than 9km( my brother told me this figure)

If any of you can tell me any other private people who are engaged in this service would be good. We can see how much it works out to and decide( sorry moms, I will be coming to India only by first week of April)

Thanks

Lakshmi2 2011-03-03 10:36:06

I think we can decide on the private van concept once we get a concrete answer from the school on the fees, timing for pick up etc.

We can club areas like madipakkam killkattalai etc.

1209 2011-03-04 02:15:05

yes Lakshmi you are correct. we can decide after we hear from school.

Thara 2011-03-04 07:42:43

HI Everybody

Lakshmi2 2011-03-04 10:25:09

Hi Thara,

Thats a news to me.If its somewhere around Rs 1200/- i think thats ok fare,

@Srisanju - Why din't you try sunshine for your younger kid as well?  I have heard that Eurokids is a good one but not first hand info!!  Check  Eurokids Velachery - Chennai - Playschools, Preschools & Daycare for some information. All the best!!

srisanju 2011-03-05 18:40:31

Thank you Umabala for your reply but there is no vacancy in sunshine for this academic year&they told that i have to try in nov for next year admission.

umabala 2011-03-05 22:09:35

All the best for your school hunt Srisanju!!

Sridevi 2011-03-11 23:57:12

@umabala,

I told them that it is possible for us to go ahead admitting sridaya only if the transportation is [promised. May b thats why they gave a call and told the cost. We will go and spk to them in person abt the cost as it sounds very high. By the way, any idea when will be the uniform measurements done etc....

@ viji

Sorry, i didnt check mails or this site for a week or so as i was bit held up. I stay near the first main road , ration shop . U r in nanganallur. Where do u stay?

umabala 2011-03-14 11:08:46

Folks,

SAN academy is providing only one second language. Most of the schools are going ahead with both hindi and tamil till 5th std as their learning curve will be good till then. I feel the kids should be exposed to both the languages atleast in the elementary level which will help them in this competitive world. This will definintely not burden the kids as their brain can grasp at ease when they are young. I was told that this would be possible if we parents approach the center head to discuss on this. Does anyone think on the same lines as me? If yes, let me know.

Cheers

Uma

Subhiksha 2011-03-14 11:15:45

hi...my daughter is completing 2 yrs this coming April...i might have to put her in PREKG somewhere in the middle of 2011 say october.....Do I have to start follow up with the schools and get admission now only ?? or can i chk the time of vijaya dhasmi ??

Need your guidance!!!

umabala 2011-03-14 12:03:50

@Subhiksha - You can check during vijayadasami..generally some schools have some seats reserved for Viajaydasami admission. However, you can enquire with the schools that you have in mind for a calrification to be on the safer side.

All the best!!

Subhiksha 2011-03-14 12:08:53

Thank u Uma...yeahhh will cross check with other schools as well........

1209 2011-03-15 03:52:33

hi umabala,

me too think they need to learn both hindi and tamil apart from English in this competitive world. definitely i can join with you to take the matter to the center head.

it would be good if many people joins in this matter, so that it will be strong enough to consider for the management.

thanks for taking initiative about this.

Lakshmi2 2011-03-15 09:33:30

Definitely Uma.We can all meet the center head and insist on the point that the kids should have the option of 2 second languages.

Abisakthi 2011-03-15 13:16:52

Hi  all....

I was out of station ..... Even i was thinking of this second language limitation.

It will be nice if kids have both hindi and tamil as their second language.

Our Kids should know the basics og Tamil LAnguage. After the school reopens, lets meet the centre head and insist on the second language concern,.
