My daughter of age 3years and 10 months is doing now LKG in Doveton Okay. Though I tried last year (2009-10) for her LKG in CBSE, when she was 2 years and 9 months, not able to admit her due to short of age criteria.

I’m very much interest to put my daughter in CBSE, and tried this year also in various schools like maharishi, chinmaya, bhawans, DAV etc, and finally failed / disappointed, now I’m concerned about my daughter’s future studies.

Pl. advice for my next search.

Did you try in SBOA, Velammal Vidyalaya (CBSE)?. Btw where do you locate and in which area you are looking for?.

shankalz 2011-01-12 09:52:59

Sowmiyaa: Lets wait for sboa results.

lkgseat 2011-01-12 09:57:48

My best wishes to Shankalz and Sowmiyaa.

Shankalz, do not hesitate to call schools. Just call the SBOA office ask them what is the status and when is the result. That's it.

shankalz 2011-01-12 09:59:05

Thanks for your wishes and I'll surely call the school office.

sowmiyaa 2011-01-12 10:04:18

@lkgseat : Thanks

@shankalz : pl. update your review after you make a call to SBOA, based on tat we will decide. All the best yaar.

sowmiyaa 2011-01-12 10:14:28

Would appreciate if any good / bad commands, fee structure etc on Sherwood Hall, Chetpet  &  Chennai Public School, Annanagar

Thanks in adv.

lkgseat 2011-01-12 10:20:13

Just wait for SBOA result.

Chennai Public School is very new and fees (80,000/-) this continues till 8th standard. Call the school to find out fees structure, then decide.

After hearing on Calibre, check out their affiliation to CBSE as well!!! One of the forum it is mentioned CPS completed 2 years.

sowmiyaa 2011-01-12 10:25:28

Hi lkgseat, Okay, let me wait for SBOA result. Rs.80,000/- per annum ...... that too upto 8th std.  oh, my god

shankalz 2011-01-12 10:34:48

Sowmiyaa: I've trying to call sboa for the past 45 mins but its completely engaged. Inbetween it rings and no one is picking it up.

Yeah the fee in Chennai Public School is arnd 80k and it does not have playground at all. My friends kid is studying there and she used to tell me that because of centralised ac, the kid is sick always. I mean if any kid has cold, it spreads easily as there is no way for fresh air circulation. And even during rainy season, they switch on the ac, kids having weezing pbms suffer a lot itseems.

Its only 2yr old school run by Mr Arcot Veerasami's brother. Appl form cost itself is Rs.1000. Really wonder how could they run a school without playground. Only the building looks attractive.

sowmiyaa 2011-01-12 10:54:25

Shankalz : Thank yaar. I droped to buy form itself. Any idea abt sherwood hall, chetpet?

shankalz 2011-01-12 11:01:45

Sorry Sowmiyaa as I have no idea abt schools outside Annanagar.

lkgseat 2011-01-12 13:53:04

Sowmiyaa focus on SBOA. I guess you will surely get since 800 odd seats.

they also have to sell and make some money end of the day.

1st list when it is out. There are people who can skip and not join because they get some where else. So, 2nd list and 3rd list the chances are brighter.

Just keep in touch with the school to understand on results/happenings. Don't lose hope and panic. If we are losing hope then we need to dance to the tune of the schools.

sowmiyaa 2011-01-12 14:31:14

@lkgseat : Yes, no other way, but simulatanously no hope, as i'm put up at purasai (abt distacnce parameter), donation (as i've mentioned less amt in a white sheet), no influence etc, which are the normal procedure for Richie rich school to reject / disappoint ppl like us.

Any way i/we keep my/our  fingers crossed.

lkgseat 2011-01-12 15:22:19

@sowmiyaa: Distance was not at all a parameter. They simply use that as a key word to avoid ppl. Just relax yourself.

To give a humble suggestion, there are people not even in purasai like you, imagining of sending the kids to schools there. Start looking out schools which are quite close/in around purasai. Just keep them as option till you get results for SBOA.

Doveton Corrie, Seventh Day Adventist, Alagappa matric, MCTM chettiar (near dasaprakash). Hope you will be the best person to say schools in that area.

Always keep some alternatives by not letting ourselves disappointed.

sowmiyaa 2011-01-12 15:52:48

@lkgseat : I agree, but all are matriculataion, that is a reason I tried CBSE schools like Bhavans, CV, Harington road, MVM, Kola Saraswathy, which is near by almost & wasted my time.

Since my sister’s son is studying in SBOA, I applied at last.

Moreover my daughter is studying in Doveton Oklay. (already posted my views on January 11) – Finally I myself made convinced.

Please be aware, those are seeking admission for Matriculation, State Board schools also need donation, influence, kids age, distance,  etc., if i'm not wrong

lkgseat 2011-01-12 16:59:53

I heard CSI Ewarts and CSI Bains are also very good schools. Consider this as well though matriculation. Can always change the school for next year going forward to nearby Bhavans, Mahirishi, Chinmaya/DAV etc. (always there are chances of transfers in the following big schools). Atleast 1 will surely help.

Keep your options opened, then there is no chance of disappointment in the end.

shankalz 2011-01-12 17:02:28

Sowmiyaa: Since your sister's kid is studying in sboa cbse, could you please share her feedback to us?

lkgseat 2011-01-12 17:02:50

@shankalz and sowmiyaa. Are you able to reach SBOA over phone/not?

Give all of us the goods news soon.

shankalz 2011-01-12 17:16:32

I tried many times and they are not picking the phone now. Someone pls try if possible.

We are really waiting to hear something gud from SBOA.

sowmiyaa 2011-01-12 17:33:59

@shankalz : Seven years back she paid 40,000/- as donation - apart this School is good. max. Sixty kids per class upto Secection -  'O'

@lkgseat : I called & got a reply "will post." & simply they kept the phone down.

shankalz 2011-01-12 17:38:59

Oh my god.. 7 yrs back she paid 40K ??? Then surely i'll be ruled out.

sowmiyaa 2011-01-12 18:09:56

@Shankalz: Actually her (my sis) son was not selected on the 1st list, as she had mentioned only Rs.20,000/- in a blank white sheet (i think that is school tradition to keep white sheet, frm the begining it seems), after some infl. she got a seat paying Rs.40,000/- + Fees. Note, tat too my sis & her hubby are govt employees.

Though I’ve female kid, shd think twice & more to pay such a huge amount as donation for riche rich schools.

shankalz 2011-01-12 18:16:31

Oh if the kids name is not in the list, we could go and tell the management that we are willing to donate higher amount is it??? Heard they will declare 3 list. Is that true? Apart from posting the result, will they also put the selected list near the gate??

sowmiyaa 2011-01-12 18:22:40

Now only they've list 1, 2, 3 etc.,

shankalz 2011-01-13 10:13:37

That too the school had not announced anything abt the selection list. They have told it will be posted bt the date of posting is also not announced officially. Really getting tensed as the days are passing.

sowmiyaa 2011-01-13 10:35:21

Even i don't ve any idea abt the result, wen do they post, How many lists. But still waiting for reply frm our group/blog.

lkgseat 2011-01-13 10:50:18

Good morning Shankalz & Sowmiyaa,

Advance wishes to bogi and pongal.

Thought of putting this across to you. Never think, just because it is a girl baby we can't spent for donations which is huge. Trends have changed both boy and girl are same. Girls progressing in all the fields. If you can provide good education, they will take care of themselves. So, never mention just because of girl you think of spending on her. Our president is a women (pratibha patel). She travelled in Sukhoi (fighter jet) recently.

Mother Therasa (social service), Kalpana Chawla (astronaut) , Sania Newal (shuttle). Sania (tennis). The list goes on and on. Let's all of us take of from our mind if it is a girl baby cannot spend money that to for education. Let's give them the best we can. They will shine and make us proud.

shankalz 2011-01-13 11:44:32

lkgseat: Wish you too the same. We really dont have the mood of celebrating the festival as am really worried of the school result.

Sowmiyaa:Pls note that girls are more powerfull than guys and because of the girls only the world had produced 'n' no. male scientists or talents. So if you keep your girl within your limits, your indirectly letting way for another boy to succeed. Never do that mistake. Provide her all the comforts required. Dont worry abt the dowry system or abt her marriage. In her period the entire scenario will change and the girs will collect dowry from guys as it was few centuries back.

sowmiyaa 2011-01-13 11:56:42

@lkgseat : Thanks & wish you the same.

I agree, i'm not against for women education r liberty. But the schooling trend made me to scarred for her education.

lkgseat 2011-01-13 12:10:16

Doesn't matter boy or girl. We had to pay the fees. Let's not be gender biased.
