Equired BVM Global, Perungudi.. Got a call from them yesterday itself.. Looks like there is a written online multiple choice questions.. post that there will be a Principal discussion.
Later i found out that this school is very close to Perungudi dumpyard.. Not sure if i will prefer this school.
After Sholinganallur signal wet land problem will not be there in OMr till satyabama.
Rain and.flood is around 20 to 30 day problem in year, which we need to adopt. No area is exception for heavy rain in Chennai.
Babaji ,.Chaitanya,Velammal Sholinganallur are good option.
Labbu, I did a tour of the area over the week end ; Checked couple of schools
Orchid international - Brand new infra(you would know about hyd one). started last year. However Covid has hit their progress. Its very next to a huge water body.
babaji - Seems the process is tedious enough and doesn't guarantee a slot
San and Sunshine - check for specific grades as they have run out of seats. I dint like sans as the school was surrounded by construction
Velammal new gens- checked couple of them. Seems to be pure play academic schools with no space for other activities.
HIS - Roads leading to this schools are quite narrow, but this was very spacious. Only till 10th now with 600 odd students. They say they focus on alround development.
In short in all these areas space is at premium schools are very small with high students to space ratio.
Frankly speaking I have not visited Chennai for any school hunt.
All I did was through reviews, I had shortlisted few of the schools which includes BVM Global Bollineni, Babaji Vidyasram, NPSI Have applied to all of the above online.
Gateway is one other option. But no online application/registration process.
Apart from that, I do not have any other options so far with me.
One of my friend had suggested both HIS as well as Orchid. But I have not done any research around that.
I just happened to see the Google reviews on BVM Bollineni.. Saw lot of positive reviews posted in last 5 days.. found it very fishy.. So I scrolled down to see the reviews of last year.. Interestingly there were some very bad reviews about the school.
Now I really thinking if we should proceed with this school
Labbu, Orchid is on banks of a backwater river(okiyum madavu); map shows the river ended before the school but it isnt the case. But as I said infra is brand new .
Babaji you need to get the application forms and then there is process of tests and interviews; goes into march for finalization.
BVM yet to visit, have to check out the sewage problem
Welcome to Chennai. There are very few schools which deliver proper IB teaching in Chennai. I have compiled a short list of schools that may be of interest to you, you must take the effort to visit each school and evaluate for yourself -
1. International Village School - Expat & Indian teachers with foreign teaching license, Complete IB school located in Sholinganallur, this school was my favourite when I reviewed many schools in Chennai for my children. The fee charged and quality of teachers as well as infrastructure all met my expectations. There are several good gated apartments within walking distance of this school.
2. American International school - Expat teachers and Indian teaching assistants, part AP curriculum and IB in high school as an option. Too expensive for me and did not like the culture, but infrastructure is decent. Not in a residential locality
3. TIPS - All Indian teachers without foreign license, with very poor methodology of teaching IB. If you are looking for proper IB this may not work. In Industrial area
4. Kids Central - Expat head but Indian teachers without foreign license, they offer a mix of UK Cambridge and IB. Was too far for me and also the teacher's quality is only average. For the fee charged I felt teaching quality can be better. Has some apartments nearby but distance is a factor, will be far from Perungudi
Hi Labbu/Machina, Welcome to Chennai. Vels vidyashram, Thalambur is one of best schools in OMR. The school has a big playground and a good infrastructure. It is a CBSE school and they follow xseed syllabus for grade 1-5 and NCERT for grade 6-12. It is one of the first schools, to start online classes for children. They are systematic and the way they take online classes, shows their excellence and dedication.
