We€™ll be relocating from US to Chennai next year and my son is 6 years old. He€™s currently in the 1st grade here. I€™m looking for good CBSE school recommendations for next June. 2ns language would be an issue for him. Any suggestions / recommendations? Thanks in advance

Hi - My kids go to AAIS (Akshar Arbol International School - ECR campus). They follow International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. 2nd language also includes Spanish so you would not have an issue. The ECR campus is in Injambakkam so your location in Chennai would be key to figuring schools. Did you have any other questions about the school? Happy to provide details.

Hi,

my kids go to Akshar arbol international school. My son is in grade 2 and my daughter is in grade 1. We moved from the US 2 years back and were looking for a CBSE school. However, we found that my kids were not very comfortable with the CBSE curriculum and the environment. So we got into AAIS which follows IB. Their Injambakkam campus is very good in terms of infrastructure and faculty and my kids love it. I will be glad to help you if you need more details or have questions about the school.

Hey hi. I am happy to provide more details should you need but let me share my experience.

I moved to Chennai a couple of years back. And we don€™t speak the local language neither understand it.

AAIS was the best decision we made for my daughter and let me tell you why -

1. Its IB and modality of learning delivery is extremely personalised and enabling - providing the child to be more accountable and responsible and helping in the overall development of the child
2. The school has a very inclusive culture
3. The additional language is not Tamil
4. The school offers other curricula activities that your child is interested in

Curriculum & teaching is attractive to the children. More than that I can vouch for the values these children carries to name a few, Sharing , Affectionate & confident with each other. Hi We are planning to move back may 2021.. could u please suggest best IB schools in chennai please

papabear 2020-11-03 10:57:51

Hi Seejee,

Welcome to Chennai. There are very few schools which deliver proper IB teaching in Chennai. I have compiled a short list of schools that may be of interest to you, you must take the effort to visit each school and evaluate for yourself -

1. International Village School - Expat & Indian teachers with foreign teaching license, Complete IB school located in Sholinganallur, this school was my favourite when I reviewed many schools in Chennai for my children. The fee charged and quality of teachers as well as infrastructure all met my expectations.

2. American International school - Expat teachers and Indian teaching assistants, part AP curriculum and IB in high school as an option. Too expensive for me and did not like the culture, but infrastructure is decent.

3. TIPS - All Indian teachers without foreign license, with very poor methodology of teaching IB. If you are looking for proper IB this may not work

4. Kids Central - IB head but Indian teachers without foreign license, they offer a mix of UK Cambridge and IB. Was too far for me and also the teacher's quality is only average. For the fee charged I felt teaching quality can be better.

Good luck on your search.

Dear papabear ,
we are moving to chennai next year and was exploring International schools around Navalur
could you give more info about International Village School . I could not find much reviews on it. Fees , extra curricular activities.
TIA

papabear 2020-11-11 12:15:33

Avain,

The fee started from 2.65 Lakhs, was very similar to KC high & TIPS but I found that value for money was much higher here. When I enquired  about after school they offered horse riding, football, cricket, archery, 3d printing design etc. I looked at reviews on Google and their FB page before I went in person.

Good luck
