Hello all,I have been a silent spectator to this group for many months now.
Just thought of sharing that my kid got admission confirmation for LKG today.
Very true. Hearty Congratulations to your kid and to you @Yo47 . This is truly a blessing to get in to The School or any such alternative schooling. We are also waiting for the mail. But for sure believe the commercial school, where she presently goes is NOT THE PLACE for our child and we are really worried about her future. We are left with no option other than The School as the time has crossed. God Bless all children to live in a free, open, bold and unbiased world.
Dear yoga
Congratulations to you n Ur kid, can u pls let us know is the interaction round are done if so what they have asked , also let us know are u staying nearby the school n working parents n other stuffs so taht it will b easy for us to get a better idea on the selection process... Also fees structure..
@to all applicants: some of you will make it this year; some later, if you keep applying. Some may not make it.
1. To those who make it: The School KFI is not a 'fill it-shut it-forget it' school. There will be gaps that they cannot fulfil. You have to find the means to fill them, as parents. Parents' role in The School KFI is very rigorous.
2. To those who don't make it: perhaps an option is to offer the atmosphere The School KFI offers, at home. If the child goes to a mainstream school, it's ok. Several mainstream school kids join The School KFI in Class 11 and sail smoothly for the 2-years they are there. In fact, some of them imbibe The School KFI ethos far better than even those who come up from LKG at the school. Depends on the child and the parents and their efforts.
We too didn't get selected...all the best to the ones who have been selected. ..
Guess the selection criteria indeed is very unique as was mentioned in the previous posts ...
To all those who didn't get 'selected': The School KFI is a small, single section school. Their priorities are for children of existing parents (siblings of older ones already in school), children of staff and alumni. Then comes the open category - where they have to make sure a good mix of boys and girls (girls outnumber boys in the school), religion, etc. It is really 'pot luck'. Unfortunately, there are no other options for alternative schooling in Chennai. Having said that, if you are keen on a The School KFI kind of education for your child, approach them and ask what you can do as parents even if you have not secured admission. They might be pleased to tell you what you can do. And someday, if you are keen, you will get your child into The School KFI.
Is it too early to check with the school for admission for academic year '20-'21? If yes, what is the ideal time to start discussions with the school management? I dropped the school an email but haven't seen a response from them yet.
@VaivaswatM: //What is the ideal time to start discussions with the school management?// Am not sure what 'discussions' you exactly meant. Parents don't initiate any process re admissions. No visits to school possible for potential parents. No dates will be even tentatively given. Calls will be answered with responses like 'keep checking out website'. So just keep checking the website after November 2019. Remember 'outsiders', and there is crowd of aspiring parents out there for this single section school, come in after staff's children are taken in, alumni children are taken in, current students' younger siblings are taken in, etc. The odds are always heavily loaded against new, non-staff, non-alumni parents seeking admission. And school doesn't entertain queries in this regard.
I am looking for admission for the academic year 20-21. Congratulations @Yo47. I have few questions @Yo47 @Srihamsa
1. Do they allow parents inside the premises during the initial days for the transition of kid?
2. How about the school timings for LKG? Is it 7.30am to 2.30pm? Breakfast, snack and lunch is at school for kindergarten as well?
Requesting a help to provide inputs/ideas on admitting my kid in a school in chennai
We planned to try KFI this year since she is 3 years now and came to know from the conversation that its really very tough or great luck to get the admission. We tried Navadisha last year and didn't get admission. When we enquired in abacus this year they told that they are considering the admission for 2017 born kids alone but my kid was 2016 born.
Can you provide your thoughts on other schools we can try it out. I am really interested to put my child in the schools like following montessori method, a stress free environment. Can you please provide the list of schools we can try in chennai. (area we preferred Vadapalani to Velachery to Sholinganallur )
Hi...
Is there any other non-traditional schools like KFI in Chennai.
I mean, I need admission to my 7yr old in 3rd standard next academic year. But I am not sure if there would be any vacancy in KFI. Just to keep my options open.
Thanks
