Welcome to Chennai aadianu. You could try good Montessori Schools in your area. But I would say you cannot expect the Schools have soccer, riding dance et al... each School is different. and space is the constraint in most urban schools. And it's also not OKAY for parents to outsource everything to the School! Mostly younger kids from age 4 onwards are taught two languages at schools.

The child can be exposed to various languages through stories, songs and plays rather than teaching the language directly!! And Chennai has riding schools, very good music and dance schools where your kids could go at the right age!!

pardon me if I sound rude!!

Cheers.

Hi aadianu, you may also check out 'Bambino'. My friends' niece studies there and I have heard very positive reviews about the School.

Cheers.

abt The Grove, I read in their website reg non-veg food - somethng like the child will be resticated...i found it too rigid and cant figure out wht is wrong if the child carries somethng tht he/she may love ...tht can make the school take this strict action....

anyways i understand not every one eats non-veg. for that matter i n my daughter are vegetarians whereas my husband n the son love non-veg....

so i m not sure if i would like to go to such rigid school coz i feel too much of rigidity does not leave any room for freedom ....and children could not possibly be stopped from their wish to fly....soar up in the sky... this reminds me of another comment i had read in this forum abt parents being doctors n their child taking interest in carpentary.....whts wrong with that....

i believe we r parents because we reached certain maturity level to take care of another life....we cant decide the path of our child's life the way we walk or perhaps the unfulfilled desires....thts not fair...i refer to 3 idiots, thr is a phunsuk wangroo in every child - let it be thr n nurture it....thts wht makes the child special n unique....rest who want to be the specific this n tht...are always narrating in their adulthood wht they cudnt do ..... and feel sad abt it....

so let it be....jeene do, jeene do!!! good luck to u all....

Hi aadianu, there is a skating rink in Besant Nagar Elliots beach. For swimming, options are plenty. You could get a membership in one of the four/five star hotel swimming pools or join clubs. Check out the aquatic complex at Velachery.

Visit www.tn-tennis.com/academies.asp for details on Tennis academies.

Good luck and Cheers.

Hi aadianu,

I'm looking for a similar kind of school which respects children and does not constraint them. Since this is a 4 yr old post, I was hoping you found your ideal school . Pls let me know. Im looking for 1std admissions for my daughter who is currently in Montessori system.

Cheers
