Has any body got admission to 4th standard or any classes other than kg in Arsha vidya mandir for the year 2015 - 2016? My child was called for an interaction after she apparently cleared the entrance test. They said, they will be intimating the result of interaction by mail. Will there be any rejection after conducting interaction for 4th class? Or, is a seat assured if called for interaction? Please let me know.
Thanks very much mom2010. Also, I used to hear very good reviews about arsha vidya mandir 2 to 3 years back. Is it still the case? I saw some comments about exodus of teachers from the school. Please let me know your opinion about the school.
I got email today saying my daughter got admission to 4th grade provided we pay the fee by 28-02-15. Fee is reasonable, 34291.00, with option of paying in 2 installments. There is also a refundable deposit of 15000.00.
My daughter got admission in AVM & NPS perumbakkam. I am a little confused where to send her. Fee wise, AVM is almost one third cheaper than NPS. Can somebody help me choose between the two? Academics, exposure, extra curricular etc., which school scores. NPS perumbakkam will be most probably ICSE, but AVM is CBSE. On that front AVM scores.
Hi bobbyma,
To clarify, avm is following igcse with cbse pattern. They will collect extra curricullar fee and book fee. As they issue cambridge book, it is quite expensive.
best wishes.
Hi pranish, 34291 is the annual tuition fee. This can be paid as one installment or 2 installments. As mom2010 said there are extra curricular fee and book expenses.
Hi all
I wonder if this thread is still live. Ive been trying to switch my daughter's school from Dav Adambakkam to AVM, for class VIII and got a waiting list mail last month. Now when we thought it was all over almost forgot about it, here comes the admission mail.. Now I m really confused! Should we make the big switch or not ? To do or to not do ? Anybody facing the same dilemma ?
Also I m reading a lot abt teachers quitting & stuff.. Any plus & minus from parents who recently switched over to AVM, would be of great help to me to make up my mind.. !!
Regards
Anuradha
Hi anuib, I don't have real time experience with AVM, as my child will start classes from this April 2015 only. My wife has some friends whose kids study in AVM. They all gave good feedback about the school. We asked the same query about teachers quitting, it seems like AVM immediately appoints new teachers for teacher vacancies created without delay. Problem with teachers quitting is in all schools.
As mom2010 pointed out previously, AVM follows IGCSE books even though they are affiliated to CBSE. But, DAV is 100% CBSE.
My child also got admission in AVM. What is your opinion when you compare AVM with DAV or NPS? I will be grateful to know your opinion.
yes it is very true that teachers quit in avm. This year also teachers have left school. Class 8, ypur child has to take checkpoint exam and school exam. If ypu are ready to coach your child for 9th and 10th. You can make the switch. Best wishes.
Hi mom2010, what is checkpoint exam ? Haven't heard of this before. Anyway, I hv decided not to make the switch. My hubby last month shifted to Mumbai unexpectedly. As I'm working too, I felt a school in walking distance would be better. Like u said, I heard from others that I should be willing to coach her additionally if I put her in AVM. Which is the last thing I m prepared to do.
Since the school sent us s waiting list mail, we thought we were out of the race and decided to enrol her for Udaya program of FiitJee.
DAV is not a great school but its not too bad either. Practical wisdom (read comfort zone) trumps over decision to take the RLT..
Hi bobbyma, congrats on choosing a good school for ur kid. Iheard that they lay emphasis on overall development of a kud, which wud be an asset to any child who joins here from the beginning. My daughter will mostly do only 3 more years here, so I had to go with practical issues that bothered me, and so decided to opt out. DAV as far I hv seen, has decent coaching, not too much pressure, atleast my daughter didn't feel anything so far, but being a huge school, has issues like giving equal opportunities to all.. So we hv to tk care of the extra curricular stuff..
Hi. Even I'm looking out for my son's admission in avm for LKG . I heard overall the school is good. Do send me reviews if u gather. I'm planning to visit the school and see in person.
Hi . I'm a first time parent and have to put my son for schooling next year. I have avm school in mind . Can u tell me what kind of questions they will ask to the parents and the child on interview. How should we prepare our child for interview during admission.
@1998jeyashri. Interview questions to my child for 4th grade were quite simple. 1. Will you be missing your friends from old school? 2. Why are you leaving your current school? 3. Which subject you like the most? 4. What do you want to do when you become big?
Parents have a separate interview too? 1. Why did you choose avm? 2. Did you go through the school website? 3. Do you know the syllabus followed by the school? 4. Are you fine with igcse and csbe mixed curicilum? 5. What is your expectation for your child from avm school?
For KG, I heard, child will be given some toys or something to play and teachers observe. They basically check if the kid is active or not.
