I am planning to change school for my kid who is studying Grade I now. I wanted to change school from next academic year (2015 to 2016) - for Grade II.
I heard Akshar Arbol in T.Nagar is following IB and IGCSE syllabus.
Does anyone know about this school?
How are they in terms of quality of education, sports and other activities?
What is the Student teacher ratio?
How about their interest in Sports and other extra curricular activities?
How good is their infrastructure?
Do they have any Ground for the kids to play? If so, how good it is?
Do they have radius limits to get admitted in the school?
Do they provide breakfast and lunch in school?
Do they have School Bus facility? If so, do they offer home pick-up and drop or just common point?
How do you rate this school comparing to other IB or IGCSE schools in Chennai?
Please post your views and feedback about this school...
please any parents respond this post...
since we didnt know about this school..
My son is studying in this school. He is in prekg
Teacher student ratio is 1:12\13 as there are 25 kids in his class and 2 teachers..
They don't have play ground however they have tie up with van operator who takes higher grade kids to Ramakrishna mission school ground twice a week
Kindergarten kids have small open play area and they have PT sessions twice a week...usually jumping running etc..
They don't have their own school vans but they recommend few operators with whom we need to interact directly
They don't provide bf/lunch..we need to pack and send it
Hi - reviving this thread - any inputs about this school ? Im looking for grade 1 admissions for coming year. Any inputs for grade 1 - 5 will be much appreciated. They have till grade 10 ?
Both my kids are studying here. The younger one in ELC 1 and the elder in ELC 3
I rate this school as the best. Go and talk to the school authorities, you will understand their passion towards education
Ms. Lourdes - Yes they do have till grade 10
Same is the case with me last year, used to see all the threads about different schools to know the first hand information from parents directly. The most negative thing which I find is most of the parents who enquire here are not giving their reviews (let it be either positive or negative) after joining their kids. May be as they don't require any more reviews they are not posting, but please do understand your reviews help others to decide
Please help me with the fee structure and what about the quality of academics?
Fee structure for my kids for ELC 1 and ELC 3 is around 42,000 per year. Academics I feel is excellent for me when I see my children
Thank you so much praveenatluri
.Since you chose Akshar Arbol, I assume you compared with other international schools. How is TIPS (The Indian Public School ) vis-a-vis Akshar ?. I have heard the people running Akshar Arbol are passionate about education, which is what drove to me to apply in the first place. But I would like to hear about it from other parents whose kids study there. How do they manage extra curricular like sports and fine arts (dance/music )? What sort of homework do they get ? How are children evaluated ? I would like to hear it from the horse's mouth so to say :-)
Let me know what about the fine arts they teaching, is it regular class and even if higher grade they have that much faculty to teach plz help me for these questions
Planning for my kid there cleared the interaction session
Since I got in Navadisha, I'm putting my child there. Akshar Arbol does not have a playground and that is a big setback for me as my child is very out-doorish. They do take children to some playground nearby once a week or so. If my memory is right, they teach classical music and dance too. The lower grades are in both their campuses. The higher grades are, as of now, only in the Saidapet campus. That's all I know about the school.
Has anyone got call for ELC1?
Has anyone received interaction call for Grade 1 yet?
And please share fee info too.
Thanks in advance
I had the interaction for ELC1 on 24th (Saturday). We were asked to pay the fees by tomorrow (28th).
Has anybody else got call?
what about the interview questions for ukg, because i don't know english
Hello All , I went to Akshar Arbol and enquired them about pre kg admission. I have heard good reviews about this school , however am not quite satisfied with the infrastructure for the fees collected. Other than not having a play ground on its own , am afraid about the safety features in the school as it seems to be a multi stored building. In case of any emergencies is there a provision for safe evacuation ? How about the classrooms , are they spacious enough for small children ? They dint allow me to see the classrooms so I want to collect all the required information before I decide to proceed. Any information would be gr8 help. Thanks in advance!
Anyone who wants to know about this school, for those who would like to seek admission in near future, let me tell you in specific, i would STRONGLY ADVISE, please opt for a better school. this might be good for kindergarden but NOT worth for money.
What was the issue? Could you please share the exact problem so that it will be helpful for us...
Hi maddy111 ,
Can you please detail about issue.
Will they call everyone for discussion if we get application form?
First of all, they are Money minded. the Respect they show
before admission is different and once you are in; it's vice versa. The main
problem of this school is staff won€™t stick for full year or so. Those staff
who are changed and in can€™t be of Certified Person. They say it€™s
International, but you can€™t see the quality of it. Every parents preference
would be, as it take 20 members in a class, we as a parent STRONGLY believe
that each kid will get proper attention, but all in vain. If your kid is
already part of AAIS, then I pity you, as I mentioned early, for kindergarten
it€™s a GO GREEN, but for academic; :( sorry. Think twice.
thanks a lot for your response maddy! which school did you opt for then? i hear the campus isnt big at all, but so far heard only very positive reviews for the teachers.
You are welcome.
Campus is not big and AC wont function all the time, no
playground, field trip occasionally arranged. Fee increases every
year but no standard. No proper monitor on kids. Apart from fee, any action
they take they charge. So which class are you looking for?
Hi thanks for your feedback. One thing I am worried very much is they are taking kids to somasundaram ground opposite. Is that safe for kids? Since it is public one how will they monitor them.
That too nowadays after hearing lot of child trafficking news I am worried sbout that
That's Hard to explain, usually that ground is open for all,
so same date & time, there is a possibility for other school or volunteers
to be practicing, but main issue is HOT SUN, any competition for kids, how good
they practice still, in the ground; its new for kids as they lack in ground sports
practice. For ELCs they leave early, but if kid don€™t eat or drink, they are
least bothered. those kids who care by themself are smart, few kids lag in such practice.
We are currently in Pune n my eldest son is studying in PYP 1 and younger daughter in Senior KG both in IB. Found about this school in websearch. Planning to move to chennai and found about this school while browsing. Are your kids still studying in AAIS. how's the school and teachers.
I have done online registration for my kids today for AAIS.Can you share the review about the school and whether the staffs are approachable and details about fees structure. I tried calling them today and they informed me everything is available on the website and was not ready to hear me out.... it seemed bit rude for not answering. Please share about your experience with the school. Thank You.
I am planning to move my son to the injambakkam campus this year for grade 3. We are moving our house to put our son in this school. So you can imagine how convinced we are about the school and the ppl behind it :) I do inderstand it'"s a chance we are taking because each child is unique and we all wish for the best fit for our child.
That being said, I'"ve done my fair amount of research before taking this decision. So let me give you an insight. It'"s up to you decide what you want from your child'"s future school.
They hAve 3 campuses. One in tnagar - from preschool till grade 5 -IB. It'"s a multistoryed building with very little, non existent outdoor space. They use the govt playground opposite the school for sports I think
Another in Mambalam. Grade 6-10 .. Cambridge syllabus and grade 11,12 is Cambridge board as well as IB .. you can choose. That is also a multistoryed building.
the third is the upcoming campus at injambakkam. One building is fully constructed. Another is coming up and the playgrounds are also coming up. It'"s a very thoughtfully done campus and you can see the thought process that'"s gone into everything there
coming to what I found when I asked around, I'"ve spoken to a few moms who'"s kids go there and they and their kids are extremely, I must emphasize again, extremely happy with the school and the teachers. They have a strict student teacher ratio and very personalised attention. The teachers are constantly updated and have a weekly training session kind of thing. Many schools days these days offer IB but the teachers leave a lot to be desired. This might surprise you, they were the first school to get IB certification in Chennai whereas most famous international schools were/are only IB candidate schools. ( the injambakkam one is still a candidate one I think) coz the building is still upcoming. Inspite of this they are a small school because they don'"t believe in advertisements. Their work speaks for themselves and they grow by referrals by happy parents.
the injambakkam campus is very small in numbers coz it'"s new and they are not pushy or aggressive
You do have to understand they can'"t explain about their school to everyone who calls. Maybe because they don'"t have an aggressive marketing team. I'"ve not faced rudeness from them till now. They'"ve been extremely accommodative when I wanted to meet the coordinators to clarify doubts I had.
Oh coming to their fees, I find them very nominal when compared to the kind of education they offer. A teacher student ratio of 1:15 can'"t be cheap obviously. Most children these days go for tuitions too paying additional money. I'"ve heard in akshar tutitions are completely unnecessary coz the teachers are so good.
So far I€™ve only heard positives about this school. The only negative review I€™ve read is from another parent here. Again we all have different expectations so it€™s totally understandable.
But I'"m still giving only an outsiders opinion. Will know better when my son starts school in June and I hope and pray what I researched is true :)
msg me if you want any more info.
