last 3 years my kid is studying in GTAVM. The reason for opting this school was it was close to our home and also because the classrooms are air conditioned. The school collects premium fees for this infrastructure.but not a single day the children get to sit in AC classrooms. If not from morning to evening the AC must be switched on at east for a  couple of hours in afternoon when the Sun is really hot. Also the school authorities should know that AC's are required only for 5 months in an academic year and they should be willing to forgo their profit for this period.
Teachers should be asked to dress up formally and not wear any kind of fancy saris to school. Most of the teachers are rude and not polite with kids.

I am 100% into it. I am also a parent of GT Aloha. Are you planning to change your kid from there.

jsrani 2014-06-26 18:13:42

YES!!! , looking for a school in the neighborhood without AC. That way we don't get a feeling a that we are cheated

jsrani 2014-06-26 18:17:42

I believe the school has a Facebook page. When I posted on their page about the AC and false hope given to parents they conveniently removed it to gather more likes. What an idea Sir ji!!!!

Hello Veena,

Hope you are doing good.. I have a appointment with GT aloha on Sat 9.45, I am bit confused reading all your comments.. I want to enroll my daughter in LKG.. can you please suggest, if I can enroll or not..
I am residing in Thoraipakkam... I have a appointment with APL on Fri.. I am bit perplexed to which school I should opt for.
Kindly advise.

veena 2014-12-18 17:26:21

Since I stay in neelangarai, the school is near to my residence. So I am opting for this school. Over all its good School.
APL i heard its good, fees seems to be high and since you are nearer and if you are ok with IGCSE and fees you can proceed with APL.

veena 2014-12-18 17:26:50

Meanwhile what is the fees structure in GT no for PRE KG this yr.

Meena2014 2014-12-19 10:59:10

Hi PRSN,

I too applied but I did not get any reply from them.

I believe we need to apply online only.I called and checked the school and they said they will reply by dec end.

Please let me know how your interview went.

@Veena,
Which class is ur child studying in GT Aloha?
I heard there is too much of portions and the kids are stressed..is that true?
What is the student teacher ratio,
I'm yet to apply for this school as I stay in Kandanchavadi and also the distance seems to be more for me.
Based on your feedback , I can apply.

veena 2014-12-19 11:08:43

my first child is in II STD.
1:40 is the ratio, which i feel is high.

Meena2014 2014-12-19 11:32:01

ok, how is the syllabus there, too much of portions and everyday homework?

veena 2014-12-19 12:09:29

@Meena- Yes, we are done with the first round of interview and next round i.e observation will be conducted after the christmas and new year holidays.. may be after Jan 5th 2015..

We registered online a few months back and its purely based on first come first serve basis..

Kindly call the admission department directly and inquire.

Meena2014 2014-12-22 16:38:56

Thanks PRSN for the details , I registered only in Dec 1st week, I called them and checked and they told me we would be called in Jan only.
Have you decided for this school or you still in the process?

PRSN 2014-12-22 16:42:00

@Meena- We are still confused :).
I prefer APL and my wife prefers GT aloha.. we couldn't come to a better conclusion yet.. How is GT aloha?? I don't see many good reviews here.

What is your opinion??

Meena2014 2014-12-22 17:10:59

I feel GT Aloha is a normal CBSE School, though the students would be limited to 35-40 per class.
Also, for higher classes, the stress is more and there is lot of homework - more like other normal schools.
I know few ppl who send their kids to this school for 3rd std..and I have hardly seen their kids coming out for play, they are fully occupied in their homework and exam preparations.

I also had a similar experience during my schooling.

The infra and the teaching is good..

I haven't applied for the school due to the distance factor.

Now, you can take a call.

I like APL but just thinking about the IGCSE Curriculum that they follow , how is the future after they come out of their schooling?
Does this help in getting admissions to prestigious univs in India or does it help only for abroad studies?

PRSN 2014-12-22 17:34:32

@ Meena- Everything is global now....in fact CBSE curriculum is so structured whereas IGCSE is not like that.. childrens have the freedom to choose their own subjects..
IGCSE children develop analytical and cognitive skills and present research papers, logical reasoning is must for present and future generations.
I knew children in CBSE doesn't even have time to breathe and no time to play or think out of book!!. but in IGCSE, you will not feel any pressure.. Children develop and manipulate things.. they learn on their own and enjoy their childhood.

Many universities started recognising IGCSE and scholarships will help you to pursue abroad studies.

Yes, fees is higher compared to other schools.. but your children will definitely learn how to handle this society with ease.

Meena2014 2014-12-22 17:48:32

@PRSN ,
Yes you are right the students learn at their own pace in IGCSE /Montessori schools.
Can you list down some of the Indian universities that recognizes IGCSE?

Did you apply for Abacus also, it is also a very good school but getting thro is very difficult there.

Any other schools you have applied to?

PRSN 2014-12-22 18:23:30

@Meena- Almost all Indian universities are accepting IGCSE in terms of grades.. especially University of Madras.. slowly everyone will start doing it.. even the academic year for IGCSE is going to change as per Indian education schedules.

Abacus.. we did, but Jan admissions is filled up for 2015.. admissions will start again in June 2015 and parents will be informed in prior.

BVM, perungudi we applied.. but unfortunately we didn't get through..Gateway international pretty expensive but you can enroll anytime you want to.. We are still waiting for NPS call and RMT has started issuing application...Rs.1500 per application

P.S- we applied in head start.. but didn't get through.

Meena2014 2014-12-23 12:35:22

@PRSN,

How was your experience with GT Aloha ..the interview process and other stuff?
As you pointed out , many univs are accepting IGCSE now and children develop out-of-the-box thinking and with its limited student strength, APL definitely scores better than GT Aloha.

In btwn , you applied for Pre-KG or LKG in BVM?

Meena.

PRSN 2014-12-26 18:16:38

@Meena-  It was pretty tough only-  Rhymes, Colors, shapes, ABCD, Picture reading (my goodness they were pointing out to a lobster and questioning my kid!!) and identifying shapes like semi circle, octagon etc.. pretty funny and weird though to question kids like this.
Kids are squeezed there in a small classroom and lof of commotion in every class which has no control.. kids are dragged to their respective route buses.. so pity to look those tiny ones shouldering heavy bags and getting stranded here and there.

We applied for LKG in BVM.

What about yours- Are you looking to enroll your kid in Pre Kg or LKG.

Meena2014 2014-12-26 23:32:04

@Prsn, We applied for pre kg in Bvm Perungudi according to the age eligibility as he is April born. He is selected but am still thinking because of the STP.But need to decide before this month end as fees needs to be paid. Can you suggest? I can't believe that these type of questions were asked in GT for Lkg.Were you prepared for the same? How was your interview with Apl?

ishumanku 2014-12-27 19:58:33

@prsn,hi did ur child selected for LGk in GT aloha as I hv also submitted the form for my child for 1st std they hv taken the entrance test now they told they will do rest of the process after 5jan, they don't tell anything clearly…

PRSN 2014-12-29 20:45:56

@ishumanku- Yes, she got selected and we were asked to pay the admission fees.  Since, its new year holidays coming up.. they should have asked you to come and visit after Jan 5th .. almost all schools operate after Jan 5th only.
