Hi All,

I'm new to this site and read all the reviews posted so far, its very useful. I called up Sunshine school recenly, Valechey branch for my son's 1st std admission. They expressed that 1st std admission will be based on the vacancy since all UKG kids to be moved to 1st std and they wanted to maintain only 2 sections per class (25 students/class strictly).

However, they asked me to visit school and make a entry in their registration note book. where i happen to see lots of entry in all the classes upto 7th Std.

Based on review commets and visiting the school campus, I wanted to put my son in there. But the admission seems to be very tough !

Anyone pls share your views on this matter please.

Hi All,

I called the school regarding UKG addmisson for my daughter but they said no vacancy in UKG, still I can go and register my name incase of any vacancies they will inform. I have read some of you have already registered ur names for UKG and higher satndards. Did they mention abt any criteria of calling in case of vacancies or its first come first serve basis. Really worried as in velachery its the only CBSE school I canthink of DAV is another option but the child -teacher ratio is too much there.

One more problem is abt visting the school, is it possible to visit them on a saturday?

pls do let us know the fee structure if any one knows

umabala 2010-11-28 17:56:37

@Maanav - The quality of the teaching is good. I have no complaints so far.

@Renu - I guess you need to check other parents in this forum who have registered. I did not face this difficulty last academic year and hence not in a position to help you.

@Soumya - I guess you can visit the school only during weekdays. Anyways do call them and find out. Also check Schools in Velachery for discussions on various schools in Velachery.

@Rani - You need to wait for Ramsi, an active member of this thread, whose son is studying in 4th std to get first hand information on the higher secondary classes. As long as I am aware, the higher classes are also going on smooth.

@Shaamala - Yes, my expectations are more than met. I am completely satisfied with the school so far

@Renny - The fee structure varies from grade to grade and hence you need to check their website to get to know the fee structure for the grade you are looking for.

Hope this helps!!

 hi all,

called the school yesterday they said that they will be giving the application forms only in the month of march that too on the basis of vacancies on each class only.they also added that they main only a strength of 46 per class divided into two sections for each class and that they r not very keen in increasing the head only if there is a vacancy will they intake keeping a written test.

uma and ramsi is it so r they very particular in head count???is there any other parent with any latest really worried now.

vijinarsi 2010-12-09 12:07:31

When i called the school today, they told that they will give application form for Nursery on March. We need to perhaps check around 1st Mar or so.

Any idea on how may sections are there in Nursery and what is the class strenghth.

also i understand that they are freezing the admission for perhaps 1st std upwards as they want to keep only 2 section with 25 students each.

But sometime back, i got to know that for Nursery the intake is more students, so if somebody wants to continue from Nursery to higher classes, how will they reduce this strength.

Any parents in the forum who's kids study currently in Nurser/JKG can throw some light on this.

Also how easy is Jr KG admission if somebody is not joining in their kid in Nursery

my son is studying in GT Aloha Vidya Mandir. i am fed up with the heavy home works and difficult exams. i am working and dont have enough time to coach my son for this kind of heavy portions. i am wanting to shift my son to a good school which can reduce the burden of the parents, still maintaining the standards. My friends say that in montessori education, students are not able to compete with the students of other schools after 6th std.. is it true??? Please some one help me..

@Ramsi and Shwetha- By any chance, were you told of a revision of academic and admission fee for your kids. I was almost grounded when they told the new fee structure.

shenu 2011-01-08 15:44:14

Dear All...

This is not related to Sunshine montessori school..

I just want ur opinion regarding the DAV public School Velachery is the school.Basically my hubby  office will be relocating in another 4 months near tidal park. so have to plan schoolling for my 2.5 yr old kid ..kindly give ur opinion  and suggestions abt  DAv Public and other schools in velachery !!

RANIVIJAYAN 2011-01-08 17:44:39

@ uma Can u update me about the new fee structure. I think the website is showing the old fee structure.?

umabala 2011-01-08 18:10:21

@Rani, the fee has increased leaps and bounds. Admission fee - 65K, term fee - 9K and other one time fee roughly 6K. This is for LKG. We had already admitted our kids in Pre-KG and we were asked to pay the new admission fee if we want to continue to LKG. This is kinda making we parents upset!! :(

leo 2011-01-10 15:46:50

ya somthing is fissy going on there. Like they told me that pre kg admission from will b given in the month of march. that sameday they told me inquire in the month of feb,11. they dont wanna give us the fee stracture over phone... they dont want parents to go to the schooln before march.....

i mean wat is going on. almost a yr back i hv decided to enroll my kid with ds school. Nw i mean i dont know ... should we rethink about that...

@uma if u dont mind... plz let me know about the pre school fee stracture...

ramsi95050 2011-01-10 17:51:42

uma - nope not aware of fee increase but my kid is already in higher standard. looks like they are asking this for pre-kg to lkg only. LKG kids are currently paying the term fee of 8K.

chitra15 2011-01-11 10:58:40

 hi uma and ramsi,

since there was lots of confusion about the issuing of app forms for higher classes also when we went and enquired the school they did not respond properly about the dates of app forms issues i dropped my idea of joining my kids there.since i am definetely shifting next year i wanted admissions in a gud school in that my kids took test in BVM global and both my kids passed the test and i hve paid the fees also.

i wanted to thank ramsi and uma  and all others for helping me by giving feedback about this school. if i had more time i would hve waited for admission in this school.any way head gud feed back about BVM execpt for the distance.anyways thanks to u guys and gud luck to u all.

RANIVIJAYAN 2011-01-11 11:03:05

@uma Thank u for the update. So the fee for higher classes must be more.

ramsi95050 2011-01-11 14:28:24

As far as I know, term fees for LKG is 8K per term and higher grade is 9K per term. I thought this was the norm pretty much for most schools in Velachery.

@uma, am I wrong in this assumption? Admission fees is usually for good schools between 35K - 50K but top schools of Chennai get like 1L !

sparent 2011-01-12 11:01:28

I am in US and moving to chennai, velachery. I called sunshine and they told that the admission process is over. last time when my dad called they said the appln forms will be available in march. now they said its over and no vacancy for any grades. I am so worried. I have applied for AVM and keeping fingers crossed. I only had 3 choices - sunshine, AVM and harishree. can anyone suggest any other good schools in and around velachery? thanks.

Rakseta 2011-01-12 11:18:16

Fro which grade u r searching?

sparent 2011-01-12 11:28:37

I am searching for LKG/ UKG (depends on age criteria in each school) and 3rd std.

sparent 2011-01-12 11:38:10

 umabala and Ramsi,

any feedback on AVM? if i may ask did u try AVM for ur kids? if u did , why did u choose sunshine to AVM? pl share ur inputs. Sunshine admission is ruled out now i guess from the way the school authorities spoke.

ramsi95050 2011-01-12 12:56:45

@uma - yes that does not feel right. sorry to hear that. All Moms can try talking together to management maybe and see if it helps!

sparent - AVM is very difficult to get into due to only limited vacancies in higher classes. But luck plays a major factor! But there are some parents not happy with AVM as well. I found kids 6th and above taxed a lot.

Sunshine infrastructure is good for the new school, campus is new, bigger than AVM etc.

For CBSE, Sunshine and AVM are good in Velachery. DAV is too academic oriented. BVM perungudi is other alternative but its near STP and I dont think I can put my kids near such a bad location.

For ICSE/Montessori based - Abacus Perungudi and Navadisha are good schools.

APL global school Thoriapakkam for IGCSE based syllabus but fees are high..

Meenamuthu 2011-01-12 13:35:15
