I am looking for 7th std admission in any of these schools. Any idea abt when to approach them?
Thanks Ishyago I was just looking for this info...
So now that most of the schools have announced application dates, does anyone have inputs regarding selection criteria in these schools and what might be the current trend in school managements expectations towards donation etc.....
Hi JSV, not quite sure, can you check the respective school website and give them a ring...
Hi Elve, Visited these schools in person. No vacancy so far. Need to contact them again fm 3rd wk of feb to 2nd wk of March. In Mvm, kola they said 'absolutely no vacancy'.
Chinmaya Kilpauk - Attended at 1PM today, they asked my kid basic questions as below
Entered the room...
He wished good morning (Thought it was afternoon) and all 3 of the interviewers wished him back (Good Morning)
They asked for the application number (Keep it handy)
One teacher started interacting with the kid, while the other two (one of them must have been the principle) were connected with the parents.
1. What is your Name - Answered
2. What is your dad's name - Answered
3. What is your mom's name - Answered
4. Which School are you studying - Answered
5. What did you have for breakfast, my kiddo said Dosa... they asked how many and he said 1...... and they asked only one, heresponded yes by nodding his head.
6. What colour is your T-Shirt - Answered
7. Who bought you this T-Shirt - He was blinking for this one (They gave a never mind facial expression)
They gave him a chocolate, he said thank you.
In the mean time, I also briefly introduced myself and my work place, I was also asked for the address proof and I enquired about the criteria for RTE they said its only for residents less than 1 km and mine is 2-3KM. They roughly went through the application form and said check the school notice board on 19 March (Its the same for all three branches).
Kiddo said bye to everyone and left.
The over all discussion was 5 minutes, from my understanding they are keen about distance.
Yesterday I attended CV Annanagar, they kind of directly rejected the application by saying better try in Kilpauk, though I tried to convince them saying i wish to move in if i get a seat etc.... I was not heard... the over all interaction in CV Annanagar was about 2 minutes.
May i know Where are you staying here?
As you said, your application got rejected from Anna nagar, may i know the reason?
Thanks in Advance.
We are at purasawalkam presently...they indicatively told to try in kilpauk, the reason is due to distance >3KM.
MVM interview done, I got a feeling they did very well...
The interview time was 9.00AM we were there almost that time, was asked to wait, they served tea and biscuits for everyone.
The teachers and organizers were courteous, my child was called as i was having the tea, they kindly requested me to finish and take the interview.
There were 4 set of teachers taking the interview, so one table with 2 teachers, one teacher would question the child and the other will ensure we have all the documents. (They just ensure the documents are there, they don't verify at this stage)
As usual they asked dress color, parents name, school name etc... and he was wearing a watch so they asked him time for which he answered as well. Also they showed some pictures and asked him (Animals, Birds, Vehicles etc...) almost everything answered, he was asked to sing a rhyme which he did at ease.
They have displayed in the board the seat availability and distribution.
There is no RTE category for LKG as they have already given in PRE-KG
Total number of applications received - 1158 approx. if i remember rightly (the office staff didn't allow me to take photo)
Appl. received from Less than 1KM - 165
Appl. received Less than 2KM - 76
Appl. received Less than 3KM - 252
Appl. received Less than 4KM - 200
Appl. received Less than 5KM - 384 approx.
Total available seats - 405
Allocated for Sibling quota - 305
Allocated for Alumini quota - 10
Allocated for Management quota - 40
Allocated for General public - Based on lot system - 50
After the interaction we were asked to wait and we had to meet another pair of teachers (may be the Principal or VP) they verified the documents, distance factor and then put our forms in appropriate tray.
I enquired about how the lot system will work like and will they have priorities for distance during the lot for which they confirmed its not and all the applications from less than 3KM will participate in the lot and out of which 50 students will be selected.
The over all time taken was about 1 hour, though our part is done well, we need to wait for luck to play its part. Lets wait and see.....
I Just got the letter from Sindhi Model, its through courier only. As mentioned earlier the interview is scheduled tomorrow at 1.00 PM.
Both parent need to attend or single parent is okay one more thing like what is your application number?
Thanks elve for detailing about mvm. Today i have interview by 3 so it will definitely help me..
- All schools request both parents to attend, though if you have a genuine excuse it should be ok. I noticed in CVK that Mother and grandmother bringing a child. But its better for both parents to attend so that they don't take it in a wrong sense.
Ok Elve, Thanks for your valuable Input.
Interview @ Sindhi Model
Attended today at 1.00 PM, We were asked to wait in the order of the application numbers, was waiting for long as they were preparing....preparing....preparing..., finally started at 1.40 PM.
My child was the first candidate today. We went inside sitting against the table was the chairman (I assume), there were two teachers one must have been the Vice Principal the other was the kinder Garden teacher who was questioning the child... both the teachers were sitting next to me and the interviewing teacher was at the far end, so i hardly heard my child but from what i saw he answered well, they asked ABCD... and Rhymes etc... and they were surprised when my child told the time from his watch.
The Chairman was on call, so took a bit of a time, mean while the other teacher was asking about my work background and enquired about my spouse educational background. They asked about our residential locality. Once the chairman was back he asked the same set of questions again for which we answered and he also asked the name of the kid to him and he answered. Then the chairman picked a chocolate and gave it to my child and said we will let you know to post (we had to give a self addressed envelope).
There were almost 20 wards invited in two batches their covers were labeled IIA (Mine) and IIB, not sure what they were for, may be distance factor or community label not quite sure.
In the mean time, we have also received the call letter from SBOA for tomorrow at 3.30PM.
@ elve did they ask anything about donation to you or anything regarding fees??
@deepakshit - Donation and fees not discussed at this stage. I heard from other sources that they ask for flat 40k refundable.
, What is your Application for SBOA?
Mine is SBOAJC/165X/G, I completed the online form on 19th Feb and submitted the next day morning.
Interview @ SBOA
Be prepared to wait 2hrs atleast, they ask questions in tamil mostly. Fathers name, what you had for lunch etc...Some unnecessary questions like how you came here, my child answered turn left then right then left then we came here ;-) Expected answer was by car or bike... for them to evaluate our financial strength..... pathetic.....
Then was asked to go to the principal's room, before entering they ask to submit the mobile phones (think they don't want proofs to be leaked), there was one more teacher there. They saw my pay slip which was given during the document submission asked what is my qualification...and noted something on a separate sheet as A B...
Then they moved to the highlight topic, very nicely put... "We are doing social service activities through our trust, are you willing to donate anything to our trust". I quoted 50K as i don't have high expectations from this school and having it only as an option. I came to know from other parents they have quoted 1L & 1.25L etc...they said we will inform results through post/email/SMS by end of March.
