Lourdes, where did your kid did her kg montessori environment and when did you get the orientation email from navadisha.

Lourdes 2015-01-09 18:47:39

I went for a one-to-one meeting around Dec 19th and paid the fees by jan 1 st  week. I received the mail about 5 days ago. The orientation today was also one-to-one. My daughter goes to NPS,Gopalapuram - Montessori stream currently. Are you also awaiting your orientation day? Which grade are you seeking admission for ?

Apparently Navadisha reopens March end. Have to figure what to do because the week overlaps with my daughters last week in her current school !

nram07 2015-03-24 14:38:56

Lourdes, we received an meeting email from Navdisha for our kid seeking admission in elementary mont. he has been studying in mont environment type, play school. can you please share on how the meeting goes before the admission ? what do they expect from the kid ?

Lourdes 2015-03-25 12:11:56

My child also got in for elementary - grade 1 (first standard)

They did not ask the child anything. My husband and I were interviewed on our parenting philosophy and how we spend time with our child and what our expectations were. They also spent time explaining their philosophy and what we can expect from them. It was a interesting interaction not really an interview. My child was given the option of occupying herself with a puzzle but she chose not to do so and was listening in to our conversations.

As soon as the interaction was over, we filled in the admission form. If you choose to, you can pay the fees immediately too.

So don't think of it as an interview, speak convincing of why you chose an alternative education system like Montessori. All the best.

FYI, grade 1 has already started on Mar 20th . My child has been going there for last 4 days and she really likes it.

I am a Parent of 2 year old child, and we are looking to return to India when she is 4. Will Navidisha take new Students for UKG(or their equivalent of it). I know generally new slots open for LKG. But we will be back to India only when she is 4, for UKG, or we can postpone it to 1st std.
Can you of you shed some light based on your insights in this school.

I really want my child to join a Montessori school, and as we are from Madipakkam our first chioce is Navidisha than Abacus.

Lourdes 2015-06-29 19:17:28

Hi ram11,

Navadisha takes new students throughout the year and for all classes. SO yes you can try for ukg when you come to india. You may have better chance of getting 1std though as vacancies tend to arise at the end of the year. If there is a vacancy they ll take in people on first come first served basis.

anujaikumar 2015-07-07 14:58:43

Please let me know if any one use transport from navadisha to pallikaranai
please share your idea

Sarush 2015-07-08 13:30:50

Hi anujaikumar,
Hope you know the fact that the school management does not provide cab services.
You may contact Mr. Anand who is running a cab service and covering all the areas in and around velachery and madipakkam.
We have arranged cab from him for my son from navadisha to madipakkam, where we live.
His mob no is 9941035659.

Hi all,

Any idea when admission for the academic year 2016-17 will begin at Navadisha? My daughter would be 3.5 years old then. Also would like some honest feedback about the school. What I am looking for:

1. A relaxed environment where the child isn't forced to write against will (many school force kids to write, and even send home work before the age of 5)
2. Loving teachers / teachers who know how to interact with children - I want my child to look forward to going to school
3. Regular updates on the child's progress / personal interactions with parents
4. Open to concerns / queries / feedback
5. Communication / language development
6. Healthy work-play balance; outdoor sessions; learning through play etc

Please let me know how Navadisha fares from your personal experience. Also, what is the admission procedure like? I am reading mixed reviews about the school (small playground, no proper admission procedure etc). I also have a mind to try Srujana Montessori, which is closer home than Navadisha.

We stay in Pallikkaranai.

Siyengar 2015-07-22 15:06:46

Hi Janani,

Thanks for the response. The number that you have provided is for Alacris or Navadisha? Also, what is your association with either school? Would need some detailed feedback.

Siyengar 2015-07-22 15:08:51

Could you please provide feedback?

Points 1,2 and 5 are fully covered in Navadisha. They have an amazing way of teaching children.

3) - my daughter started here in grade 1 and we have no interaction initiated by the school. However if I did have a concern I have mail the school ad request for a one to one with teacher. I don't know how it is for kg. Even in NPS montessori,  we were not given frequent updates but we did have more interaction with teachers than we do at Navadisha.

4) Cant comment on this. Im still relatively new and till now haven't raised a concern. My daughter has peanut allergy and I was happy that they ensured she we not allowed to have them there. If u r from usa, then you d take this for granted but believe me, not all schools in India would have a way of handling this.

5) English language skills of peers here leaves a lot to be desired. Again many schools here are like that.

Overall the crowd is very mixed so it has its own plus and minus. I do have mixed feelings about it. But I absolutely love the way they teach and that's the main reason for moving to Navadisha. Oh and they have neither homework nor exams till 6th grade. Its mostly self study so as parents we dont have to "make them learn". I just read or play chess or some puzzles with my child everyday and also take her out for sports activities.

The school ground is average, smaller than the good-old schools but larger than the new schools that run out of a building.

Admission process is straight forward, you email them with name , date of birth and age of child and may be which class you are seeking admission for and they get back to you. They have a- you don't call , we ll call u policy. So you cant meet the admin or enter the school.   If they do have a vacancy they will email .This is where parents get upset, because we are used to going to schools and talking to them. But frankly if you follow the above, the admission process is fairly smooth. I did not have any problems.

A word of caution- kg classes are in high demand so its difficult to get admission unless u registered 2 years ago. It is equally difficult to get in abacus. Redwood Montessori in besant nagar is also reputed. Bodhana Montessori in velachery (near vijayanagar busstand) is run from a house but for kindergarten its ok. The lady who staretd ist, is also from navadisha. Its easier to get admission here and then try for first grade in navadisha. Do keep trying. All the best.

Hi All,

Anybody had started applying in Navadisha for next academic year 2016-2017?  Got any response from the school?

Parents who are applying for 2016-2017 could share information on the process.

PrabhakaranV 2015-11-13 13:05:27

Did you try at Navadisha for 2016-2017?
Any updates from them or you?
I had wrote them, but didn't get any response.  Do you know if they have started sending out mails to parents?

rum6 2015-11-13 20:29:34

I checked with a patent whose kid is in Navadisha and I heard that they have not started sending mails. I have been following since long and I did not get any mail as of now. Me too waiting for it.

PrabhakaranV 2015-11-17 11:34:53

Thanks for the information.
What I could learn from various discussions is that once we drop a mail, then we need to simply wait for their intimation through mails.  Am I right?
Or is it better to go visit them (I guess we will be stopped by the security at the gate and we will be asked simply to mail the school)?
Should we send them followup mails multiple times?  Does is hold any advantage?
Since the children are taken in for admission for 3 terms in a year, should we keep mailing?
Any help?

rum6 2015-11-17 12:45:24

Prabhakaran keeping sending them multiple mails. There is no use in visiting school at all as they only intimate through mails. Also selection process is not shared even to the staffs working there. Yes I heard they check which parent is keen on getting admitted their kid in Navadisha through multiple mails only;)

Siyengar 2016-03-15 14:20:31

Hi Prabhakaran,
No I haven't received any mail save for the automated response. Honestly, I've given up trying. What are the other schools you are looking at?

PrabhakaranV 2016-03-16 18:15:59

Hi Siyengar,
Am trying for Abacus, Perungudi.  I submitted the enquiry form during Dec 2015, bit I guess I was late by then.  There was no availability / vacancy for Jan 2016 batch and now, they do not have for June 2016 either.  And they have asked me to submit the equiry form again during July if I would like to keep trying.
I will be trying for KFI The School during 2018 when my kid will become 5.5 years old.
Right now, my kid is going to Bodhana Montessori House of Children, Velachery.
What you have decided?  Where is your kid going right now?

Lourdes 2016-03-18 13:59:35

For parents keen on montessori schools, I do understand getting into Navadisha or Abacus is really hard. There is a new school called Neev Montessori in Injambakkam ECR started by teachers from Navadisha.Montessori teachers are always encouraged to start their own schools and propagate the concept.I heard very positive feedback about Neev. They have summer camps too so you can check out your comfort level with the school.
