Can you please let me know how is Abacus montessori school. I heard it has many high profile people's children studying there. Is it ok for middle class people..Please let me know.
I believe it has a good reputation and I have not heardof any discrimination based on wealth in abacus. You may also try in Navadisa which I is Montessori as well.
@Priyaprabu10 We registered in Nov 1st week and have not received any interview call so far. Hence I could not wait for this admission race to end in Abacus so admitted my daughter in HLC for 2014 Pre-Kg.
Daughter's dob is may 2011. Please visit school website http://www.headstartschool.org to download prekg application form. Fill it up and submit the same after fixing appointment with Mrs. Bindu Vasudevan

We had a very friendly round offace to face. introduction aboutthe school and daughter was given some story and color books to explore. Admission offer was given the same day and admission fee to be transferred online.
@eshine, Where are you put up. When I called HLC, they said they may be considering children coming <6km radius this year. Not sure though. Just wanted to chk.
@AnithaPillai That is true, I stay near Medavakkam. The 6KM radius is only a transport service criteria and not an admission criteria. If you are not opting for school transport that it doesnot matter. However, I do personally believe in not making my child travel too far for school everyday. The HLC Bus Coverage/Service Area are clearly mapped in below weblink:- http://www.headstartschool.org/location/route3.php
Received reject letter by post from Abacus Montessori, they very deeply regretted their inability to provide admission due to huge queue. Luckily I did not wait for them.
couple of years ago, tried for primary admission for my kid in Abacus, We were told you could try for alternate options/schools in the final round. We didn't know that which criteria made us not eligible for the admission. Even we asked the reason they said no criteria... God only knows.... we both were post graduate.. and in the salary bracket that we can manage the school fee.. etc., and only one kid....
When orientation happens there were 100s of parents, we were told to only 10 seats available for primary (primary every quarter they would admit 10 students it seems). Application cost was 1000/- @ that time, Almost all the parents bought the application for 1000 Rs. (more than 100 ppl) for 10 admission. This is happening every quarter for primary it seems.
It would have been better if they returned the money (atleast 50%) for the parents who was rejected. It seems that this is one of the way to make more money. There would be some system introudced in all the school to return the appln. fee if the kid is rejected for admission. We felt bad after the rejection without telling anything. (attended. orientation for 1 hr, another day...classroom observation, interview which was postponed twice... taking permisson/leave then changing it and lots of followups)
This is for one school. If this approach continues, if we could try for many other schools as a alternate.. I couldnt imagine how much time that we could plan for primary admission....It seems, people who are new to chennai and doesnt have any contact .... life is hard. anyhow this is the fact that we have to live with it....
@bills100 - Please do not list all schools under the money minting category. I know of many renowned schools who do not collect fee for pre-application / enquiry forms. And they issue actual application only based on allocation of seats for which I don't mind paying at this stage.
I am looking for admission for 2 of my sons for pre-kg and ukg.
In Abacus, I got registeration form for pre-kg and enquiry form for ukg..When I check now for admission, they say to contact in March.
In Navadhisha, I have not yet received enquiry forms for both..
In BVM Bollenini, I have submitted application form for pre-kg, but missed it for ukg. I think for pre-kg results will be known on 16-Dec.
Sunshine, was told admission would start in Mar and for UKG only if seats available..
As you people are in Chennai, Can you people let me know how is Sunshine..and how is HLC, sT.Johns...
Between, BVM Bollenini, Sunshine, DAV Velachery, HLC, St.Johns apart from Syllabus, which one do u feel is better..Not sure if i get admission..but wanted to know so that I have some idea..Please let me know...Let me know if you people know any other renowned schools also..Thanks...
@ Bills100 - I was in the same dilemma couple of months back while selecting schools for my daughter and finally chose HLC international for Prekg starting next academic year. I have my own reasons behind the choice, since your are already late in entering the Indian school admission race. Suggest you to try your luck in HLC first.
@eshine, Thanks for your feed back, If possible, can you list the schools which are not charging hefty amount for application/pre-enrollment form. This would be help full for the parents who looking for admission and would like to apply many schools. Though the numbers would be less, it would be really helpfull, especially OMR/ECR/Velachery and nearby area school list. (CBSE/ICSE/ISC preferred.
PS. As you said nobody never mind paying application fee for allocated seats including myself. Thanks to all sharing their feed backs. It really helps to know better about the admission details.
We tried primary for our kid couple of years back, we got a chance to attend class room observation session of primary students, we were really impressed. You may give a try.
Hi I have submitted the application form for my daughter born on March 2012 for Abacus. My thought is she will be eligible only for the September Intake. Can anyone let me know when i can expect the call from the school for the interview please..... Should i do a follow up through e-mail asking for information.. does the school encourage that
You will be first asked to register the application sometime in june/july. It would be good if you called them to find out the status around that period.
I was waiting for the call from the abacus montessori school , but i didn't get the call so far , so i have decided to admit my child in srujana Montessori school which is there in radial road. They also sounds good, and fee structure also very nominal when compare to navadisha and abacus, montessori methodolgy remains the same. they too have summer camp in the month of april and may, am planning to enroll my child for summer camp and they too have montessori teacher training also am planning to attend the class in the summer so that i can do home schooling for my child from june onwards.
Anyone has idea if admission process has started for September intake in Abacus. I am yet to receive the call. I contacted them & they said by the end of the month they will start calling.
